Rockcastle County 69 Murray 36

Featured Replies

Final from Diddle Arena. Lady Rockets win very convincingly, shooting 47% from the field.

Main concern for the Lady Rockets is the status of Angie Lawrence. She was injured diving for a loose ball. She is questionable at best for tomorrow. Jackie Alexander sprained her ankle, but she was walking on it after the game.

Point totals were:

Alexander 20

Hammond 17

Lawrence 9

Way to go Lady Rockets!!!:dancingpa:dancingpa:dancingpa

The miracle of a laptop.

We did play a great game and took it to them from the start. I feel sorry for the next team we play. I had great seats, actually no bad seats anyway.

Great crowd support tonight for the lady rockets.

I can't wait till Fri. I just dread the drive again. But there is a least some different places to eat than I am used too.

Please don't give teams bulliten board material. Rockcastle County has worked their butts off and don't need someone inspiring their next opponent.

With that being said, when the final buzzer sounded, I got one of the strongest cold chills I've ever gotten. This win ranks right up their in biggest wins in Rockcastle County sports history. I'd say top 5 easily...second biggest in basketball. My top five would look like this...

1. Football - Rockcastle County defeating CovCath to reach state finals

2. Girls Basketball - Rockcastle County defeats Cawood in 1997 for first regional crown in team history

3. Girls Basketball - Rockcastle County defeats Murray (today's result)

4. Boys Baseball - Rockcastle County defeats Clay Count for first regional crown in boys basketball history

5. Baseball - Rockcastle County defeats Hazard in best of three series over the course of four days in two different cities to win the sectional title and make it to state

paNDA, I wish I could go down there for the next game but I don't wanna jinx the girls. I saw them play twice last year and both were losses. I watched them play once this year online and they lost...call me superstitious but I cant jinx them again...lol. I'm as giddy as a kid in a candy store over this win....but just like the girls on the team are feeling, this is just the first step in an ever bigger goal. One game at a time girls....cant help but remember a cheer from my days back at The Rock.

I just watched the post-game press conference and can't help but like the Murray team and their head coach. Very classy group of girls and head coach. Proud of their efforts.

The Rockcastle County presser was before Murray's and...I'll admit to it....I had tears in my eyes watching it. Seeing Coach Noble, Sara Hammond, Jackie Alexander and Kristen (Poodie) Abney on the screen was awesome. Coach Noble is a great woman and coach...will always have the utmost respect for her on and off the court (she was on of the people who were there for me when my granny passed away in 2003....had the team come to the layout). Sara and Jackie did a great deal of the talking for the players and Sara mentioned Poodie in one of here comments and the media asked who it was and they pointed to my cousin....lol.

Overall, gotta tip my hat to both programs. Murray, you have NOTHING to hang your ehads about...30-5 season being the best in school history with the youth that you've got is impressive...they'll definitely be a tough out for anyone the next few years in the 1st Region. Rockcastle County...as many know you'll be my first love...had a tear in my eye yesterday when I passed through The Rock on my way down to Harrogate, Tenn., with the NKU baseball team...Coach Noble, make those girls get in bed early tonight cause the job isn't done...one game at a time!

It is good stuff but those losing team interviews can be tough.

In the post game interview, Coach Noble also said that Angie Lawrence just bruised her shoulder a little and should be fine. Hopefully that is the case! The definitely need her toughness on the court through these games.

If you have played sports you know bulletin board material is overrated. Or at least it is IMO.

I'm happy for the Lady Rockets. Unfortunately I haven't seen them play this year, but it certainly appears they are very very good.

That may be the case for some schools but other it fires them up. Don't want people to think this team is overconfident...yes I would like the other teams to "fear" Rockcastle County cause that could give them a couple extra points but this isn't the time to fire someone up...just my opinion...everyone has their right to think/believe what they want. I respect your opinion and I hope the feeling is reciprocated. :thumb::thumb::thumb:

I would hope we are confident. I hope the other team has to worry about us and not concentrate on the game at hand. I doubt players or coaches take anything from this anyway, unless it comes from a player or coach directly.

From where I was sitting and talking to people, we pretty much took it right at Murry. They say this is the best team we have ever had. I have to say beating Highlands in football ranks in the top 5, especially when we ran the clock on them.

All sounds good, but the biggest sports win ever for Rockcastle County was the semi-final football win over Highlands!!:dancingpa

Congrats to the Lady Rocks. Just saw the highlights of the game on Ch 27. VERY impressive.

The next team they play is the GRC Lady Cards. If not a thread I will start one.

I just remember getting bulletin board material when I played sports, and while it fired me up, I usually forgot about it as soon as the game started .
