  1. Any word on whether Conner played any tonight? Any more score updates?
  2. Here's the final word (at least according to me)... Great game for Dixie. They played well and deserved to win. Keep up the good work. Tough game for Highlands. Heal up the injuries, work harder, and play better next time.
  3. Could some of the Highlands fans give me a rundown of some of the key players for the Highlands frosh team this year, and what position(s) they play? How good a QB is the New boy? I've also heard that there's some kid named True who's very good.
  4. Any word on the score to this game tonight?
  5. Any word on the score of this game? I think it started at 7pm tonight. Big district playoff implications...
  6. I don't know much about the specifics of football (especially frosh football)... is it normal for a team to only have 3-4 different offensive plays in the arsenal???
  7. Any word on whether some key guys were out for Highlands, or was Dixie just that good? Wow... Now, does this mean that Dixie has to lose and Highlands has to win next week in order for Highlands to get to the frosh championship game?
  8. :scared::scared::scared::scared: What happened? Did Highlands have some key guys out for this game, or was Dixie just that good? Man...
  9. Yowza! 21 straight points for Dixie. Any more score updates?
  10. No, I can't. The highest I remember a KY team being was Trinity being ranked 4th nationally in the final USA Today Super 25 rankings list back in 2002. If Saint X wins the rest of their games (a tall order, indeed, but definitely do-able), I wonder how high they would be ranked in the final polls?
  11. I have a feeling that Highlands is getting in a position to have all the pieces in place for an outstanding playoff run... with Crawford already back playing (and playing well), and with Conner cleared to play for week seven (this week), and now with Frank returning (arguably one of the top two or three defensive linemen Highlands has), everything is aligning. Plus, Highlands still has their bye week coming up, at just the perfect time to heal the guys up a bit more and work out some kinks before the playoff run. Not to mention, Highlands really got the chance to further develop their offensive backfield with all the playing time Head and Fennell got at the running back position. This is all very, very auspicious for Highlands! Finally, a question for all the Highlands football historians out there... has the team ever had an offensive backfield as deep and talented as the 'Birds have in 2008, with the likes of Josh Conner, Clint Crawford, Oliver Head, Tyler Fennell, Spencer Bankemper and Travis Alford? Not to mention the talent at the quarterback position, with Tony Guidulgi and Will Bardo. Yikes!!!!! Heck, throw in the quality receivers and the very solid offensive line play at this point in the season, and perhaps we're looking at one of the most well-rounded and potent Highlands offenses of all time! With how the team did in 2007, and with how they're doing this year, not to mention the talent the team will have returning for next year... the Highlands football program is really in the middle of something special right now.
  12. Well, we already have some idea about how the Louisville "Big Two" would fare against the big Cincy schools, since Trinity defeated Cincy Saint X already this year. It seems that Cincy football is a bit down this year... I'd have to think that Trinity and Louisville Saint X would match up very well against all the big Cincy schools this year. Probably, Cincy Elder has the best all-around Cincy team right now.
  13. I thought that the KHSAA stuff about either playing in your class or playing 6A was just a rumor, and that the current situation (being able to play up but not having to go to 6A) would be able to continue. Also, Highlands likes to schedule 1-2 non-district games against top-tier competition per year. It seems that Highlands probably will not be playing Cincy Colerain next year (they will be playing Cincy Withrow, which is by no means an equivalent game to Colerain), so I'm not surprised that Coach Mueller would want to add a team like Trinity to the mix in 2009 and/or 2010... I don't think this should be interpreted as "testing the waters" to move up to 6A, any more than Highlands playing the likes of Cincy Elder or Cincy Colerain was a move to enter the Ohio High School Athletic Association!
  14. Any word on the Highlands-Cincy Withrow JV game from tonight?
  15. A thread talking about how this year's CCH team compared with previous squads got me thinking... How good a team was Highlands in 2005 and 2006, compared to 2007 (or this year, so far)? In 2005, Highlands lost about everyone from the 2004 state title team. They took some very bad beatings in the regular season, to the likes of Cincinnati Colerain, Louisville Saint Xavier (a really bad game) and Columbus (Ohio) DeSales, yet defeated CCH in the regular season to win the district. The 'Birds then got shut out by eventual state champ LexCath at home during the postseason. In 2006, Highlands lost very close games to Cincy Elder and to Columbus DeSales, and had a better showing against Louisville Saint Xavier. They lost to CCH at home on a last-second play to finish 2nd in the district, and then lost again to CCH by 10 in the playoffs (CCH went on to win state). By looking at the final W-L records (and some of the scores), it seems that these were "down" years for Highlands, but were they really? They did play very tough schedules both years. How good was LexCath in 2005 and CCH in 2006... and how would the 2007 version of Highlands have fared against 2005 LexCath and 2006 CCH if they had to play them?
  16. Nice. In all seriousness, this game could be very ugly, whether or not Elder "calls off the dogs" or not. The lack of a running clock will not help things, and let's remember that HHS played a lot of subs in the second half and still the margin was 61 points. If Elder is the best Cincy team this year, then I'd say that things will probably not go well for the Colonels. Given that CCH has some things to work on this year and that this game is basically meaningless (with respect to making the playoffs, plus everyone has written this game off, it seems), I wonder how the CCH coaching staff will approach it. Will they "experiment" with some different things (especially on defense) and see how they work out (or don't work out), or do they approach this game just like any other? Clearly, it seems that CCH does need to make some adjustments before the postseason if they want to go anywhere in the playoffs.
  17. 5: Beechwood 3: Corbin 3: Madison Central 1: Henderson County 1: Mercer County 1: Letcher County Central 1: Woodford County 1: Pulaski County 1: Fairdale 1: Clay County TB: 48
  18. Final in Hoptown. Josh Conner (for Highlands) did not play, but Clint Crawford was back and played well. It sounded like both teams have some athletes.
  19. Highlands down to the 35... Bardo is playing QB with the rest of the Highlands starters on offense.
  20. Hoptown scores another TD. Wow... they seem to be exposing some defensive weaknesses for the 'Birds. 41-21
  21. End of the 3Q: Highlands 41-14 Hoptown with the ball and they continue to have success moving the chains on offense. It seems that Hoptown is pretty athletic. I suspect that the Highlands defensive players will be getting an earful the entire ride back!!!
