  1. I just wish that the 'Birds could get one more score (even a GF) so that they could say they put up more points on Colerain than either Saint X or McKeesport.
  2. They are number-1 in the national Massey Ratings.
  3. If HHS is going to keep this close and respectable, they need to score some points and take some time off the clock on this drive.
  4. Uh oh! I noticed that Ryan Ernst just predicted a second-half Colerain blowout... hope this isn't the beginning of that!
  5. Any word on any injuries for HHS in this game?
  6. HHS gets the ball first in the second half, right?
  7. I understand HHS is driving with the score 7-6... any updates?
  8. According to the current Massey Ratings, Cincinnati Colerain is ranked 1st in the entire nation heading into their game against Highlands on Friday. This will mark the first time in Highlands' storied football history (I think!) that Highlands has faced a team ranked 1st nationally in a poll at the time they played HHS. Wow!!!! So much for Colerain being in a "down" year.
  9. 5: Covington Catholic 3: Male 3: Lexington Christian Academy 1: Boyle County 1: G.R. Clark 1: Trinity 1: Breathitt County 1: Danville 1: Fort Campbell 1: Owensboro Tiebreaker #1: 48
  10. Question: we all know that Mooney is really good... was this game a matter of a clearly superior (and great) team beating a good team that just didn't stack up with Mooney, or is CCH not very good right now? What are the biggest problems for CCH at this point?
  11. Highlands travels to Ohio to take on Cincinnati Colerain this week. HHS is 1-0 after beating Ryle 26-6 in week 1. Colerain is 2-0 after a close win against Cincinnati Saint Xavier in week 1 and on overtime win over McKeesport, Pennsylvania in week 2 (part of the Herbstreit event). Both HHS and CHS are "young" this year, but I'm thinking that this means two very different things when talking about HHS and CHS. Also, HHS will be without RB Josh Conner, who is going to be out a few more weeks due to injury. I'm thinking that this game is close for the first half and CHS opens it up in the second half (similar to what happened in 2005, but not as bad a loss for HHS points-wise this time around).
  12. Congrats 'Birds! Usually I'm the first HHS fan to panic and declare that the sky is falling when HHS doesn't beat a team by a ton, but come on, Ryle is a good squad (they showed it in their scrimmage against CCH) and HHS beat them by 20. Last year HHS won by 28. I'm worried that some HHS fans will develop the notion this year that last year's team was absolutely flawless. A 20 vs a 28 point victory seems pretty consistent to me! Sure, HHS has things to work on, but for most of their players it was their first varsity start EVER. I'm sure there were jitters.
  13. Way to give some love to the North Carolina BGP contingent!!!! BTW, I will actually be in Caketown for the long weekend (but not arriving in time to see the HHS-Ryle game tonight)! Good luck CCH and I think it's safe to say that "a few in Ft. Thomas and one in North Carolina" will be pulling for you guys!
  14. I can't believe this thread has not been started yet! This Saturday, Covington Catholic squares off against Youngstown (Ohio) Cardinal Mooney. The game will be played in Canton, Ohio as part of the 2008 Herbstreit Classic. Mooney is 0-1 after losing to Mentor (Ohio) 34-20. Mentor is an Ohio Division I (large school) state power, while Mooney is Division IV. CovCath will have its hands full against Mooney, but the Colonels have historically played well against strong Ohio competition. A win by CCH sure would get 2008 going on a very positive note for the Colonels!
