Anybody that knows Matney knows he believes in scheduling tough teams. His philosophy is he would rather go 6-4 and make a deep run in the playoffs than go undefeated. But like its been said this turn around came faster than anyone would have guessed. He has also had trouble finding tough teams close to home (or any team close to home) to play. You have to remember this program was down and lacked alot of support. One of his goals (im assuming) was to get the fan support up. Which he did an awesome job. Maybe one of the best atmospheres in high school football.

I never said anything about CC being over confident. This team will stay at the top from now on out. Matney has changed this program from top to bottom and he trains up coaches as well. Youll see what i mean when i say JC hits harder than anyone they have played. Matney always puts a hard hitting team on the feild. I never said they were worried but it will supprise them.

Everybody in EKY knew they were top ten after the first game. They are just very disciplined. They've been in the Mountain top ten all year and number one most of the season. I know the Belfry scimage isn't a game and i know how Belfry sees a scrimage. But JC was still very impressive being able to score at will against Belfry.

It was 16. But this JC team has alot more depth. That SC team had about 13 varsity players with nearly everyone going both ways. They had less than 30 total players. JC has 77. That makes a big difference. I think this will be a tough game for both teams. I don't think CC has seen anyone that hits like JC. And i don't think JC has seen such a dynamic offense.

I don't think the interceptions really hurt rock that much. They didn't help but Rock wasn't getting it done on offense. It would have been different if the interceptions came at crucial points in the game but they didn't. But by no means was that the key to their win. The key was jamming rocks receivers and stopping their run.

I don't know of anyone that was injured. I was not impressed with the big guy at all. I don't even think he was the best lineman on the feild. He clogged up the middle but with his size its impossible not to.

Grimm really doesn't have D1 size but is as good as any high school running back and better than most. Johnson has D1 size and is a monster at fullback and LB. He really doesn't have any big D1 offers coming in. Several smaller school offers i beleive. I think Tackett could play D1 too. Racked up 18 tackles against Rock. I hope this game really gets some offers coming in to JC. Its hard to get colleges to notice EKY but with a NKY powerhouse coming down someone might hear about them.

Wow. Usually your at least some what close to the facts. But are you way off on this on. Matney has faced several top passing teams and one of the best ever. 98 Highlands team was one of the best passing teams KY has ever had. Lorenzen and Gino throwing the ball down the feild. That is what you would call a "top-flight" passing team. Also Belfry that year was running a no huddle shotgun offense with Wright. Plus beating a Tim Couch led Leslie Co. Matney's expertise is in the Defensive secondary. I don't think he will be out of his element when facing the pass.

SC had alot of seniors on the 98 team. At one point they had as many as 9 or 10 senors starting and most of them going both ways.

Warfeild Red Devils are about 100 meters from the Kermit Blue Devils. Nothing odd about the names individualy. The fact that they are so close make it interesting. I thought Devils came in all colors.

SC's Ryan Kelley has been able to compete with the high school kids since 7th grade. Hes not exactly a light weight either.

I'm not going to argue wether moe was in or not. Even though he was. But SC did go on to play them alot closer than anyone else had. Only losing by 16 or 18. Might have been one of the closest games Highlands had that year.

SC is the team everyone thinks. They just did not show up tonight. This game will hurt them in the district but it will help them come playoff time. The team is young and they let the success get to them. Now that they have suffered a loss to a hugh rival team Hager will have them ready to play in the playoffs. Pburg is making it interesting too. They are improving every week. Tonight is the best i've seen them look all season.

I think SC is as good as their fans think. They just did not come to play tonight and Pburg did. Like gish said the ball did bounce their way a couple times and they capitalized on it. I dont think its fair to take anything away from this win by saying SC was overated. I think Prestonburg is improving and played extremely hard and again SC just did not show up.

What is valley's record now. I read some where they were undefeated, but i thought they lost to matewan.

Yeah their schedule was a little weak this year but thats not why they had their success. Some where these kids lost their fire. They came out flat and stayed flat the entire game. Even the OT play was without intensity. I would have to say that SC was more physical and laid several hard hits. Some of the hits you would think would pump a team up but some how it didn't. There were also flags every where. They went both ways but you could see it feeding Pburg. SC didn't show one emotion.

Sheldon Clark almost always feilds 300lb lineman. But they aren't gaining the weight to be on the line. They are just some big boys. Most of SC's Lineman are encouraged to wrestle. Which is definately not for someone trying to "bulk up". But it does make them more agile and gives them better stamina and power.

The only time i can remember Pburg winning was 2001. This has been driving my nuts all day. When was the other win?

Did prestonsburg win the 2003 game?

Does anyone know the record between SC vs Pburg for this decade (2000s).
