The weather is getting colder day-by-day. Football season is almost over. Most wrestlers have already started cutting weight and conditioning.

Oh yea. If they wrestle on the high school team, it doesnt matter what grade they are in. If a freshman on team A wrestles 112, and team B's 112 is a senior... they will wrestle each other.

Even 7th and 8th graders can wrestle varsity.

It seems like more and more schools are using their middle school atheletes in all their sports. Wrestling is a great opportunity for kids that don't play basketball to keep in shape for football and other sports.

Johnson Central had a 7th grader, Zac Salyers, wrestle in the state tournament for them. He won 2 matches I believe. Just because somebody is young doesnt mean they cant wrestle.

SC's Ryan Kelley has been able to compete with the high school kids since 7th grade. Hes not exactly a light weight either.

First tournament is the Turkey Classic at McCreary County on November 20. The season usually opens with the Northern Kentucky Jamboree, but this year, its been moved back until Dec 2. Holmes is holding a duels tournament on Nov 25.
