Travis Hunter to Become a Full Time Cornerback
Announced yesterday that aside from a few gimmicks, Travis Hunter will effectively be a full-time corner, no longer focusing on the receiver position. Yes, Jacksonville had a resurgent year, but the move they made to move up and grab Hunter shows why they are a poorly run franchise. As a reminder, they moved up from #5 to #2, while also giving up their second round pick (#36), fourth rounder (#126), and this year's first round selection (#24).

I'm not worried for the reasons you list, but much of the fodder is maybe because he was the ONLY capable shooter on the team. I would put him above "moderate," and he oddly has a clutch gene about him. But he has virtually no ability to create for himself. No sleep will be lost from me if he finds a home elsewhere.

Former NCAA Champions
Yes. Off the top of my head, it has happened multiple times in the SEC. I know in UK's titles in '96 and '98, Tennessee won titles in those two seasons.

KenPom Rankings 2026
But it is nowhere near correct, unless I am missing something about what you are saying. UConn, just two seasons ago, was the overall #1 seed. And let's say they did throw out the UL title, the season before, UK was the overall #1 seed. I know Florida in their title defense was the overall #1, etc. In fairness, I am not sure how long the NCAA has been declaring an overall #1 seed. That is a relatively new thing in the last 25 years or so?

NCAA Tournament Expanding to 76 Teams
I believe 32 is/was the sweet spot. 8 seeds have shown to be formidable competition, and that's really what we are looking for. Since the expansion, there have been four 8 seeds to advance to the Championship game. Winners include: 8 seed, 7 seed (twice), and a 6 seed.

NCAA Tournament Expanding to 76 Teams
Hmm. I hadn't thought of that. You can get by with it under the current format, but six additional games may tilt it.

Michigan 69 UConn 63 (NCAA Men's Championship)
For those who don't know, Dusty May spent a season as an assistant at Murray State. Not confirmed, but it is assumed that all of his coaching acumen and skills were developed that season. The Racers produce the best, and May winning confirms this yet again.

NCAA Tournament Expanding to 76 Teams
The proposed format would expand the opening round to 24 teams (comprised of auto qualifiers and those on the bubble), with 52 awaiting. Dayton and another location are expected to host these games. This change could go into effect as early as next season. We can finally get that coveted 11th-place SEC team vs. 9th-place Big 12 matchup that we have been longing for!

Correct. There is no parallel to Indiana football. Michigan is a known college basketball commodity with an expansive base that has frankly underperformed much of its existence. Northwestern coming out of nowhere to cut down the nets would be the closest thing I could think of to IU football.

Mike Malone will be the next head coach at North Carolina
I have no idea what the recipe is any longer. All that I know is that: 1) College basketball coaching is no longer a draw. UK hiring a dude from BYU; UL a dude from Charleston, etc. 2) You must have resources (UK and UNC have that). 3) You need a dude who knows how to coach. Like, really coach. Otherwise, you will be exposed. Aside from Larry Brown, Malone is about as decorated an NBA coach as you will find who has made the transition to college. Who knows if it will transition to college? Having an all-time great on your team (Jokic) can make you look pretty good as well. ?

Michigan 69 UConn 63 (NCAA Men's Championship)
Crazy to think UK's starting 5 in 2012: Anthony Davis: 19 years, 21 days MKG: 18 years, 6 months Marquis Teague: 19 years, 1 month Doron Lamb: 20 years, 5 months Terrence Jones: 20 years, 2 months

That's the name of the game, but in order for this to work, one needs to have a good coach able to develop talent. And while we can have this sentiment, the top 100 are still going to big-boy schools. The fact UK is not on the list at all is troubling. In this new age, I believe it separates the coaches who can REALLY coach, and those who cannot. The early returns on UK having that are not good.

Did ours before. Problem solved. Well, kind of. It was still chaotic, but at least it avoided the post-ceremony anarchy you are alluding to.

I've learned not to get too worked up when it comes to recruiting, unless you are on target for one of THE guys. UK is in the hunt for Stokes, but it does not feel promising. That said, aside from Stokes, UK is most likely not going to land any of the top 100 high school recruits in the country (ESPN rankings). I get that relying on Freshmen is not sound in practice, but there has to be some level of development.

Let me pull back the curtain for you a little bit. The whole thing has been a scam for decades. There is a reason we are the only country on planet earth with this bizarre university culture masking as a minor league system where 99% of student-athletes earn pennies, while the school earns much more off of them. The value of the "kids" (I would say, young adults), of playing college basketball at a university far exceeds the value and level of investment of the education they receive at a university. Taking 6 credit hours of online classes ain't exactly priming the next generation for greatness. They're majoring in eligibility, and the highlight of their resume was playing X, not taking Y courses. I view all of the upheaval right now as a market overcorrection to the inequities that have existed for years.

The McDonald's All-American game used to be one of my favorite events each Spring. I got the biggest kick out of the big spread that USA Today would do.

But you do care about the unsuccesfullness (in this case) of the SEC. You do the same thing, my friend, just on the opposite side of the conference rooting thing of homer guy ?

By hook or crook, I've got 3 of the 4 left in my bracket. I had Illinois losing in the Elite 8. Zona cutting down the nets.

2026 Men's NCAA Tournament
There were some signs going back to Round 1 that Duke would have a tough time winning it all. You don’t trail by double digits to a 16 seed and find your way to the promised land. I believe he will get there, but Boozer’s game needs a lot of work to succeed at the next level. That “clear out of the way and let me bull you over” to the rim style of play has a very low success rate in the NBA. See Tyler Hansburough.

How about all this playing out before they terminated McMahon? LSU goes all-in when it comes to coaching drama.

Kentucky Wildcats 2026-2027
I know people were saying it as a shot at Pope, and maybe it was, but that's pretty tame as he is speaking in generalities about the state of play. And I can't say that I would totally blame for Cal for responding. The more I've thought about Pope's quote, the more it frustrates me. Basically, he was saying, "Cut me a break because things are so much tougher now."

2026 Men's NCAA Tournament
I agree. Tournament success, with its randomness, is a silly metric. It can put lipstick on a pig, but you can't hide finishing 5th and 9th in the SEC in consecutive seasons.
