Mine comes from something my old high school football coach, Dick Roddy, used to say in practice. If you were not giving 100% effort when blocking, like sometimes happens in practice especially when you are tired, he would call you out on it. Loudly, LOL. He would say (among other things I can't repeat on BGP) something along the lines of "if that is the best you can do, you might as well just go do the Watusi with that guy" :lol2: I always thought it was funny and when I joined BGP I was thinking back on the olden days when I played and it popped into my head.

That 11am Friday time slot is a killer and I hate it. 1A has definitely gotten the short end of the stick with that game over the years. I wish the KHSAA would change the format to a 3 day event.

I like the system we have now much better than using either points scored, or points allowed as the tie breaker.

If I play in this golf thing, can I get on a team where I only have to play from about 120 yards in. I could just bring 3 clubs, and anything I do outside of that distance isn't going to be very helpful anyway. Plus I'd save money on golf balls.

I can attest to the awesome hot brown at the Brown Hotel in Louisville. Nothing like the original. :banana:

Why put the premium only on defense? What you would do in that system is encourage every team to play their starters the whole game in order to beat the system. Just in the example I gave, B won 14-7 in OT and they would get the nod ahead of A who could have won 50-0 but pulled their starters and the JV gave up 21 points. That would be a terrible system, IMO.

Not everyone. Wins and losses against common opponents, maybe. When you get into point spreads vs common opponents, no way. Assume a district with 4 teams, and in this 3 way tie between Teams A, B and C consider the following... The three teams have only one common opponent, Team D A builds a 35-0 lead over D and pulls their starters early in cruising to a 35-21 victory. B comes from behind to send the game into overtime and then beat D 14-7 in OT C and D get into a shootout and C wins 48-42 Who should win that tie-breaker?

If Hoopty and Gold Sunrise team up and run a chuckwagon, then I will be too full to play golf, but my belly will be happy.
