  1. Yeah, my wife has me doing a little walking/jogging with her. Mostly walking
  2. Man, I come here, to my good friends and I expect a little support. And what do I get?? Heartaches!
  3. I'm sure I never did.
  4. Is this better? This is my other pair of new shoes.
  5. Not that it will deter me from wearing them but I should have known Mrs 2C was right Does it matter that they are really comfortable AND they were half price? Or does that make it worse?
  6. Patience grasshopper. Old guy posting on a phone over here.
  7. What do you think of my shoes. Mrs 2C kind of smirks and says "they are really white" whenever I wear them. So are they sharp looking kicks or do I need to send them back to 1985?
  8. Not an issue. Belfry's coach has free reign to schedule and public/private just isn't an issue. Like Pep said, travel would be a concern but consider the last two seasons Belfry had to settle for a game against a team in Knoxville, one in Gallipolis, OH and they agreed to travel to Southwestern two years in a row just to fill the schedule. Playing T would be a huge test for the Pirates, but it would be well received among the Pirate faithful and they do travel well.
  9. 23 years of wedded bliss for Mrs 2C and I.
  10. To an extent, you are right, if we were talking about "an injured position" as you put it. However, when the injuries pile up like they have, they most certainly are not "easily interchangeable". You don't have that many replacements on the field without a drop in talent and more importantly experience.
  11. Not looking for sympathy, just discussing the way injuries come in waves sometimes. That is essentially what I am doing with this thread. I'd like to hear about MC's injury issues if you want to share.
  12. For a small school roster, this has been debilitating. They are playing way more people both ways than they would like to. Their QB is now a HB, a LB is now a NG, a SE is now a HB, etc. I have to say, I have been impressed with a lot of the younger guys who have stepped up. That is a testament to the coaching and preparation that they go through from 3rd grade on up, where every level plays the same schemes and has the same playbook. And even though it has been fun watching the youngsters develop, and seeing the adjustments the coaches have made, it sure would be nice for some of these injured guys to make it back in time for a playoff run. Shew.
  13. Case in point, this year's Belfry team. This season started off like gang busters for Belfry, as they handled a very good Henry Clay team 29-7, beat a Harlan County team comfortably on a night when they could have scored 50 and then dominated Southwestern 28-7 when Southwestern had super sophomore Jordan Doan. Since that time, they have suffered a rash of injuries (and one transfer out) that has completely changed the personnel on this team. Now they are playing lots of freshmen and sophomores, and moving kids around in different positions just to field a competitive team. Last night they suffered a couple more critical injuries, and the extent of them are yet unknown, but ATLCat posted this in another thread and I thought it was worthy of mentioning. At the end of the game last night, Belfry was without the following position players from their opening day roster...
  14. Injuries are part of the game, and are to be expected. Does it seem like sometimes they just come in waves? You know what I am talking about, that season where everything looks promising and then Murphy's Law just seems to take over and suddenly your team is trying hard just to find enough people to fill positions?
  15. Happy Birthday RTS, hope it is a great one.
  16. That hasn't been the point at all Deuce. At least it isn't the point I was making and I don't think anyone else was saying that.
  17. I agree and I haven't been saying that it was. A 16 year old will screw a black snake, he don't need much coercion. What I have been saying is that her job as teacher comes with a level of public trust that in the least requires her to prevent these types of encounters, and she failed.
  18. Maybe you just never quit thinking like a 16 year old :lol2: The fact that the 16 year old only saw her as a piece of tail is precisely the reason teachers and other adults in an entrusted position have to be of strong character. 16 year olds will take any shot they get. Of course he didn't see her as an authority figure, but it doesn't matter what HIS perception of her was. The fact is she IS in a position of authority, and she is entrusted with the care of the young men and women that is placed in her care. Her actions are a violation of that trust that the public (and his parents) have placed on her, and that she accepted when she took the job.
  19. Of course not and you know nothing in my post suggested that. No more than I believe that you are really OK with the football coach bedding your daughter but not the Vice Principal. Every adult should have enough moral sensibility to not cross that boundary. In addition to that minimum standard for all adults, people in a position of trust (and also influence) like teachers have to be held to an even higher standard, and their conduct has to be above reproach. There is zero excuse for a teacher allowing herself or himself to fall into that trap. Teachers have a legal and ethical responsibility, as mentors and caretakers, to not violate the trust that every parent places in them. And that is true regardless if their students are 14, 16 or 18 years of age. And as I said earlier, anyone who thinks it is OK in my opinion is a complete idiot.
  20. Yes. And the school secretary and maintenance man, etc. I want my kid to be safe from predators and every employee of the school is held to that standard. Anything less than that is moronic.
  21. No doubt, I thought that part was self explanatory. It is definitely a problem, no matter the gender of the teacher. A certain level of trust has to be a given. When I send my kid to school, the minimum conduct I should expect of the teachers and administrators is that they don't have sex with my kid. They are in a position of authority and trust. I can't imagine anyone thinking otherwise.
  22. She was trying to implement the new Common Hard Core Standards into the curriculum.
