  1. No must say I haven't...... but will soon .....
  2. Absolutely. Glad you started this thread RM. Thinking it could be a Bruce on youtube kinda night. Dry red wine and Bruce..... yeah that works......
  3. Love the Boss. Some of my favorites: The River Highway Patrolman My Hometown Streets of Philadelphia Murder Incorporated Bruce is among my favorite singer/songwriters alongside the likes of Petty, Neil Young, Eddie Vedder, Bob Dylan. Some of you may not be familiar with Highway Patrolman. If not, youtube it and drink in the lyrics.......a truly beautiful song.
  4. As many of you will be able to tell by the following answer, I have rethought my position regarding cheating. #5 is................. History of the World, Part I It is a 1981 comedy film written, produced, and directed by Mel Brooks. Brooks also stars in the film, playing five roles: Moses, Comicus the stand-up philosopher, Tomás de Torquemada, King Louis XVI, and Jacques, le garçon de pisse. The large ensemble cast also features Sid Caesar, Shecky Greene, Gregory Hines (in his film debut), Charlie Callas; and Brooks regulars Dom DeLuise, Madeline Kahn, Harvey Korman, Cloris Leachman, Andreas Voutsinas and Spike Milligan. The film also has cameo appearances by Royce D. Applegate, Bea Arthur, Hugh Hefner, John Hurt (as Jesus Christ), Barry Levinson, Jackie Mason, Paul Mazursky, Andrew Sachs and Henny Youngman, among others. Orson Welles narrates each story. Despite carrying the title Part 1, there is no sequel; the title is a play on The Historie of the World, Volume 1 by Sir Walter Raleigh.
  5. Bell's Oberon is quite delicious. I also really like Southern Tier's Hop Sun. On the other end of the spectrum, Blue Moon Belgian-style wheat is mule drool. However, all wheat beers (American and others) must bow to the king: Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier. LOVE it...... It should be noted that the Alstrom Brothers (creators of the Beer Advocate web-site) awarded a rating of 100 to the Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier.
  6. #2 is probably a sports flick, but can't think of which one.. I have pledged to myself NOT to cheat (at least not yet). Ah, JD got it I do believe.
  7. I'd say flea and slash would love that name!!
  8. I just saw this thread today. I wasn't going to post because I saw that it was started by Jim Schue, who is like a cat hiding in the shadows waiting for the mice to come walking by...... Hate me if you must, but I have always loved ABBA. Like many others in this thread, I am not ashamed of it. Unfortunately, I grew up in a VERY redneck infused small town in Western Kentucky where the saying was "If yer not a Skynyrd fan, yer a queer" (I have substituted yer in place of you're for dramatic effect and because 1)that is how most people pronounced it, and 2)because most people in my town thought contractions were only used by "queers"). While everybody else was driving around blasting "classic rock" like Skynyrd, Foghat, Boston, etc., I was driving around in my Volkswagen (it had a sunroof and was therefore acceptable to be seen in) quietly listening to ABBA and the occasional Air Supply (if I had a lady friend with me). Therefore, I was a very closeted ABBA fan throughout the 70's and into the early 80's. When I started college in '83, I was able to come out of the closet and start blasting ABBA for all the world to hear. Some particular favorites: Knowing Me, Knowing You (my favorite ABBA song) Chiquitita Gimme Gimme Gimme Dancing Queen Fernando The Name of the Game
  9. Quite the impressive lineup there Rockmom!! You go girl! Your Van Halen (no Van Hagar) comment reminds me of a line from the movie, Joe Dirt: "I don't listen to that crap! I'm a rocker, dude through and through. Here's my favorite bands: AC/DC, Van Halen, not Van Hagar, Skynyrd, Def Lep."
  10. I am almost 50 years old and my classic rock would be the 70s and 80s I suppose. So many of my friends seem to believe that there is no good music that has been made after that "classic" period. From them you'll get Journey, Skynyrd, Styx, REO Speedwagon, etc. Everything after that period is "unworthy" to so many of them. I'll admit I've always been on the outside looking in when it comes to music. In the 70's, instead of listening to Skynyrd (which I despise), REO, Boston (yuck), Kansas (ugh), I was listening to Blondie, Cheap Trick, The Ramones, and others in the alternative/punk/newwave genres. I also loved Ozzy I must say. In the 80's when "hair metal" was king, I was listening to Petty, Neil Young, Blondie (still), and other music outside the hair metal genre. The 90's came along and laid waste to hair metal (thank God), and saw the rise of Nirvana, Alice in Chains, and Pearl Jam. I am a huge fan of all three and think Eddie Vedder is a brilliant songwriter. To make a long story short, I have always embraced new music decade after decade. That doesn't mean I like everything. I don't as previously noted. However, while so many people remain "stuck" in a particular era, I am constantly looking for new music to check out. My Pandora lineup is a sight to behold!! Some examples of what's in it: Band of Horses, Petty, Marilyn Manson, Coldplay, Classical Favorites, Of Monsters and Men, Cheap Trick, Ozzy, 90's alternative, Avett Brothers, Mumford & Sons, U2, Snow Patrol, Pat Benatar, Social Distortion, Neil Young, and on and on.... I don't envision a day ever when I will wake up and think I'm too old for "that kind of music". Keep on Rockin' in the Free World................:thumb:
  11. That sounds like an awesome festival. Would love to check it out but unfortunately we have prior commitments.:(
  12. The title of this thread should be prefaced with - Void Ab Initio........
  13. Love both.... The final minutes of the song Politik on Colplay's 2003 Live album give me chills every time I listen to it. I recently bought an electric piano for my music room and the first song I "played along with" after I set it up was Politik. I challenge anyone to listen to the lyrics in U2's Moment of Surrender and not be moved. One, Beautiful Day, Bad, Sunday Bloody Sunday..... the list goes on and on.
  14. Very much enjoyed the Red House Painters links bbf. I am a long time fan of their music. Have You Forgotten is another awesome RHP song.
  15. Geez.. I've spent all day at work today in this absurdly addictive thread. Gotta head home. Will be back in a little while..................
  16. Civilization could end and rise again, and in that span of time, I would have never guessed this one.
