I think if a kid has the talent to compete at the high school level than it is in his best interest to do so, as far as preparing them for the college game. IMO as an 8th grader Apollo's Brad Wilkerson was one of the better pitchers on the team. What good would it have done him to play JV, when he would have dominated. IMO he improved because he had to face better hitters, facing other middle schoolers he wouldn't have had much trouble at all.

Apollo has two 8th graders on their varsity roster this season.

Would say, 28-0 be acceptable? Where do you draw the line. I would rather lose 100-0 than to have my opponet striking out on purpose, etc. In my opinion that is showing your team up more than any amount of runs. I'm sure the Eminence players would really feel better knowing that they finally got out of the inning because their opponet let them. In my opinion that would be more of an embarrasement than any spread in the score. At least let me know that when I get somebody out it was legitimate. Where is the blame on the Eminence coach? Apparantly he left his starting pitcher in to give up the first 32 runs. You at least have to try something different, why was a releiver not put in earlier? Obviously the kid didn't have has good stuff that day.

Are you sure you've got the correct date? This game is part of the 2nd annual Border Bowl. I believe that Daviess Co. plays Evansville Harrison on the 29th as part of a double header with Owensboro and Evansville Reitz. The next day Apollo plays Evansville Bosse and Owensbor Catholic plays Evansville Memorial.

I might be wrong, but I think that Apollo had pitched their 8th grader Matthew Johnson that game. I was told he had about 12K's before the rainout.

Apollo was held scoreless until they had 2 outs in the 7th, before exploding for 12. Fortunate win. They are now 6-0 on the season.

Skyler Shown picked up the win for the Eagles. Third baseman Richie Stanley was 3 of 4 including a 2 run bomb.

The Eagles improve to 2-0 on the season, before heading off to the Cocoa Expo.

The Eagles open the season and 9th district play by defeating the cross town rival Red Devils. Tyler Edge picks up the win for Apollo. Sloppy game, the teams combined for 6 or 7 errors. Lots of unearned runs.

Don't think anybody has mentioned him yet, but if Owensboro's Yorel Shemwell plays as good as he did in the region he should get noticed.

Apollo scrimmaged McLean Co. today. I was told they didn't really keep score, but that Apollo would have won fairly easily. Apollo has an 8th grader, Dalton West who has made the varisty team. Some of you may remember him as part of the Owensboro Southern team that went to Williamsport twice. Anyhow, in his first unofficial varisty at bat he hit one out of the park.

All four 9th district teams received votes. Looks like it will be tough again this year as always.
