In the last 25 years, the Tigers are 12 - 28 vs the Shamrocks. If St. X fans consider that as “regularly” defeating the Shamrocks, so be it. Let’s not even mention football state championships in the last quarter century.

Well he might not like what he finds any better in the 15 years before that (2001-2016). A guy named Bob Beatty had a little bit of success during that span as well.

In recent years the Rocks have not really had a “formal” Green/White game. There are so few days before their scrimmage vs Springfield (OH) that the KHSAA allows full pads/contact that Trinity has had more low key intra-squad action prior to their Springfield scrimmage. I suggest you plan to attend that scrimmage. Springfield has a very strong football program.

Yes indeed. My point was that he had “undervalued” Zane by equating his QB time at Trinity with Cam Smith, Nick Petrino and Spencer Blackburn. Those guys are Honorable Mention. Zane should be higher than those guys.

Flashback August 2023. Trinity is scrimmaging at Springfield HS (Ohio). The same Springfield defense that gave the Trinity offense fits in previous scrimmages. Coach Cobb tries two older Shamrocks QB’s. Neither is effective. Enter rising freshman QB Zane Johnson. The kid simply performed different. It was obvious to all who were there. That is the beginning of his story and more evidence that you have undervalued Zane.

Thanks for sharing this and taking the time and effort to pull it together. Great work. I have to challenge 2 things- 1. You have Zane Johnson WAY undervalued. 3 consecutive state championships; beginning as a freshman. Maybe a 4 peat. Come on. Zane is equal to Cam Smith, Spencer Blackburn and Nick Petrino. No way. 2. You seem to favor the first 15 years more than the last 11 years. I see it as more balanced across the 26 years.

Periodic downturn??? If their last “strong” teams were 1984 and early 2000’s, the last 20 + years are more than that. The rest of it is a history lesson for old folks like me.

And the absolute absurdity of things is that the KHSAA will give Trinity a “half point” RPI credit for facing these outstanding opponents, win or lose.

I am having trouble seeing a win on their schedule. How in the heck have the Panthers fallen off this badly?

And now we know the answer…..absolutely not.

Does Boyd County have a pitcher that can handle the Rocks? Did they throw their top guy vs McCracken ? Trinity saved their top guy for the championship game.

That would be too many “champions” (7), in too small a state. 6 football classes, and 6 champions, for a state with fewer than 300 high schools playing football is already too many.

Why would Trinity care about “shutting up” CAL or Boyle County? The Rocks are top dog in Kentucky high school football. Playing the schedule they have played for the last 20 years vs top teams in Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee, etc is a win win for the Rocks. Beat these very strong out of state opponents and you gain even more respect. Lose to these very strong out of state opponents and learn about your team for the post season. Iron sharpens iron. CAL and Boyle County have nothing to lose in facing Trinity. They are trying to get where Trinity already lives.

Are we really at a point where social media sites “report” player stats on a random, May 30 summer game?

Coach Pete has a 3-Pete!!! The Shamrocks own the top high school lacrosse program in Kentucky. Sustained with class and professionalism.

I don’t see any team beating Trinity. The Rocks are as strong if not stronger than any roster they have ever had and the rest of the state baseball scene seems to be down this year.

For the past 15+ years the Trinity varsity football schedule has been as challenging as any in the Midwest region. Coach Cobb and most of his current staff have led the way during that run. They appreciate how such strong competition helps keep a team focused, helps expose your strengths and weaknesses and prepares the Rocks for a post season run.

Perfect Game Alert. Really? 9 Brown batters = a “perfect game”. One Trinity pitcher per inning for 3 innings? Each pitcher likely throwing less than 12 to 15 pitches The KHSAA has a lot of work to do to improve post season playoffs across multiple sports. How can that even be called a 7th Region playoff game.
