From what we saw on Friday night of PRP vs Trinity, not much. Unfortunately, their do-it-all QB got hurt in the first half. Word I heard was broken collar bone. I expect Raceland to leave Greenwood Rd. Friday night with a win.

The Colonels defend their home turf in their opener, knocking off the DeSales Colts 42-21 in a Saturday night battle. It's the first win for coach Jamie Reed at the helm of Oldham County. Was more impressed with Oldham County than I thought I would. The Colonels just flat out beat the Colts in nearly every facet of the game. Sr. QB Derek Dees lead that passing attack with confidence and poise.

Haven't watched the Douglass game except the OT periods. Word is that on Friday and in scrimmages, Douglass had some trouble moving the ball.

The Trinity Shamrocks welcome the Frederick Douglass Broncos to Marshall Stadium on Friday night for a 6A, Louisville-Lexington battle. Friday night’s contest will mark the fifth meeting between these two programs. The Broncos took the first meeting in Louisville in 2023 but Trinity has won each of the last three meetings. That includes a playoff meeting in 2023 and 2024. Each of the five meetings between these two have been decided by an average of just 9.25 points. Trinity enters Friday after having pounded PRP by a score of 62-0 in their opener. The Rocks took back the opening kickoff for a TD and never looked back. This highly-anticipated second week matchup will be the first test for the Rocks this season. Frederick Douglass traveled to Ft. Thomas on Friday and fell to Highlands in a 21-20 double overtime thriller that saw Tayden Lorenzen win it for Highlands on a two-point conversion. I expect another battle between these two 6A powers on Friday night.

As expected tonight for the Rocks. The real test start next week. To add my take, I like the new uniforms. The stripes on the sides look nice.

RBs Cortez Stone and Justin Brents graduated for Central. Stone rushed for 1,882 yards and 30 touchdowns. Was 60% of the Yellowjackets scoring. Brents rushed for 938 yards and 9 TDs as a productive No. 2. Top receiver, starting QB, top tackler, and sacks leader all gone as well. Interested to see how the Yellowjackets new talent looks and stacks up against a Manual squad that returns its core and has high expectations as one of the best in 6A. Expect Manual to get the season-opening W.

Butler has one win over Male since 1999 (2017) and has scored one touchdown on the Bulldogs in the last five meetings. Don't expect Male to have any trouble against Butler this year either.

Yes. That's correct. Trinity beat J-Town 76-0 in 2001 and then Marshall County by the same score in 2021 playoffs. That's the school record. 63-0 vs Southern in the playoffs last year is the most the Rocks have scored since '21. When J-Town and Seneca were aligned in 6A and in Trinity's district, there were a few games where it was a running clock by half and once as early as the start of the second quarter, if I recall.

Indeed. After Trinity, PRP will host 1A power Raceland and 4A power Franklin County the following weeks back to back. Then Scott County, rival Butler, and Male to end September. North Hardin, Manual, St. X, and Lexington Christian. Manual, North Hardin, and St. X is the district. In all, the Panthers play four teams that were at least semifinalist in their class last year and three teams who played in a championship game (Trinity, Raceland, Franklin Co.). I'd say seven of their 11 opponents are top teams, or seen as top teams, in their respective classes and have the ability to be playing deep in November, at least.

The Trinity Shamrocks will welcome the Pleasure Ridge Park Panthers to Marshall Stadium on Friday night in what will be the season opener for both squads. Trinity is coming off a second consecutive state championship and the program’s 29th overall. Head Coach Jay Cobb has a ton of talent back which includes junior starting QB Zane Johnson and RB JB Berry who headlined this team last year. A strong and deep D-line headlines the defense. PRP is coming off a 2-9 mark last fall and enters 2025 with a new head coach in Kenneth Walker, Jr. It is the Panthers’ second year with a new head man as alum and former Louisville Cardinal Brandon Dunn led the program last fall before his firing in the spring. Ironically, current Trinity assistant coach Tommy Williams was the head man at PRP for seven years until the end of the 2023 season. Coming into this contest, the Shamrocks are heavy favorites. The top-end talent and depth the Shamrocks possess at nearly every spot on the field is unmatched by many in the state of Kentucky. Trinity and PRP have met eight times in history with the last meeting being in 2016 at PRP. Trinity has won all eight meetings. The most notable matchup between these two is the 2012 state championship game where a Shamrocks team headlined by stars such as James Quick, Travis Wright, Jason Hatcher, Ryan White, and Dalyn Dawkins bounced the Panthers 61-7.

Expected announcement from Edelen after whispers of the move as of late. Creates another hole for Male and a big one at that.

Watson is rocking #6 as at WR for the Rocks. He started and was in the game quite a bit. Not sure how many targets he had and don't believe he had any catches. Was maybe targeted just a few times. If anything, adds a good bit of depth at WR. We'll see how much he's used and what he can doing in real action.

Only three quarters of live play. Now its coaches on the field and a very controlled environment with backups.

Pick six to start the half and then they couldn't move the ball much at all. O-Line not getting much of a push, especially inside. Multiple poor or forced passes as well.
