Somerset has lost 3 of 4. Seems like Coomer is not been able to play much of a consecutive game stretch because of shin splints. Not sure that bodes well for the post season. I think he does make a difference, but not sure he is the sole reason for their poor stretch.

Does Mills coach on the offensive side of the ball?

According to Twitter there were a couple Boyle assistants at the press conference. Were they just there for support or is there more to it? I guess time will tell.

Jumpers lose to McCreary per score board

I agree on these two points. If the 7 footers mesh well for DCA they will have so much length that I don’t know how anyone in our region will be able to consistently score. If Fraley is back for the maroons then he takes them to another level. I believe they were up 17 against the Jumpers when he went down. So if those two wild cards play out… I think they would put themselves at the top of the pack.

It will be interesting to see the staff the first time head coach puts together. I know his expertise is on the defensive side so wonder who is going to call the plays on the offensive side for the Maroons. Overall consensus seems like a good hire, and one that Maroon faithful is happy about. Good luck to Coach Burns!

Seems all but an official announcement that Travis Burns is headed to Pulaski County. Supposedly two assistants are set to head with Burns. I’m sure Coach Haddix hates to lose parts of his staff, but at the same time I’m sure he’s proud of Coach Burns and wishes him well.

Names weren’t given to me. I just know part of the final requests were he got to bring two assistants with him. I’m guessing they are teachers. So if Coach Mills is a teacher, then he may be on the move.

Travis Burns to Pulaski. Bringing two assistants with him. I feel like Burns was the man PC wanted from the beginning, but at some point in the process I think they fell in love with Eddie James. It will be interesting to see how the next 3-4 years play out. Good luck to Coach Burns and the Maroons.

Pulaski wins 63-56. Fraley has early exit in second quarter. Hope that young man is okay.

Eddie James was at Pulaski High School the last two days. He had interest and heavily considered. Now what happened over night and today; I’m not sure. But he was on campus.

With all the interviews and touring of the facilities… something must be missing for Pulaski. Is it their parents coaches don’t want to deal with it? Is it lack of facilities? Is it money? Or a combination of all?

I agree with you. The briar patch will be packed tonight. I expect a close battle, but I’m going on record saying this one will be much better quality of game than last time. I expect higher scoring: 69-65 Somerset

If James is the hire, which I fully expect, Burns has to be kicking himself in the foot for turning it down the first time. Especially if he has come to terms that he truly wants the job because it was his to lose from the beginning.

Maybe in the past, but completely new administration over the course of the last couple of years outside of the AD. Don’t feel like any “ghosting” will take place here.

Interesting. We shall see. Maybe same guy. But the guy I have been told has impressive resume, and has a state title game appearance under his belt.

Interview lasted majority of afternoon and evening. Family toured facilities as well. Pulaski County has gotten their guy.

Hadn’t heard this guys name until today. But getting a guy who has had great success as a head coach and has developed a good program has to be a good feeling for Pulaski admin. Maybe striking out on Burns has turned into a good thing. Maroon fans should be flying high tomorrow around noon.

Who I heard as well along with Larkey.. but I have heard all things when it comes to this job. I’m starting to think there wasn’t as much interest as parents may have thought or hoped for.

If you read my prior posts, I said there should be no issue with basketball team working out with the football team. As long as there is open communication between coaches. So no, I’m not making this about football vs everyone else. Was asking a genuine question.

Does football/baseball let those same players go to basketball open gyms?

I would be curious to know how many basketball teams in the 12th region aren’t lifting during the season. I just assumed it was the norm these days for athletes to lift during season. However, I also assumed basketball coaches ran their own workouts.
