Wouldn’t that penalize the regular season district winners? They are playing 4 seeds who have low RPIs in the first round so could potentially be jumped. If we’re going to live in this RPI world, build a schedule outside of district play to position yourself to host games in the 3rd round and beyond.

The first 5 yard penalty was in fact a delay of game. The 2nd consecutive 5 yard penalty was a false start. Whatever caused the 2nd one resulted in the CoY pointing to the bleachers complaining about something. Regardless of the noise, I would have thought this CoY staff would have had their team better prepared.

What region were these refs from?

It’s been a relatively quiet thread this week after all the activity over the weekend. Perhaps folks have been sharpening their stat pencils or editing down their game film to preoccupy themselves. But alas, the time is near. Games with same season repeat opponents tend to play closer. I think this one will initially look that way. However, there will be a celebration in those pristine, litter-free parking lots this evening. Birds pull away and flirt with another running clock.

I wouldn’t be surprised by any result in this game, which makes it a tough one to pick. Scott Co has one of if not the most technically executing running offenses in the state, and Cooper has been susceptible to giving up big chunks on the ground this season. The Jags certainly have the offensive firepower to put up some points, but it can stall out. If Scott Co gets up a score or two and the Jags get squeezed on time of possession, do the Jags have enough poise to remain patient? I’ll take Scott Co by 10.

Ashland has had a really nice season, as evidenced by their record. Following their schedule and results, I just have been underwhelmed in some of those wins against decent opponents. Too much talent for the home team. Evan Pitzer leads the way to a CCH win by 20+.

Good callout @BLUEHOUND. Benke hasn’t been sacked all year but Dixie apparently got him twice in that game.

Thanks to @KYFootballFanzfor posting the stat chart. @Finkle Ray the chart shows 55 SOLO tackles and 54 assisted. The accounting is confusing to me as well.

Dixie was flying around on defense that night. I believe their official stats listed 129 tackles on the 71 offensive plays (8 or 9 resulting in scores) and special teams returns Highlands had.

Four of their 5 games since have been blowouts. 3-1 in those games. They ALMOST beat Cooper after turning them over 4 times in the 2nd half. Play calling was impeccable but execution was lacking. Looking back further, they also almost beat SK, Beechwood and CCH.

And schematically Highlands stands no chance going against the 5A District 6 coach of the year. This Dixie staff almost won 4 other games!!

Is there another program in the 9th who can challenge either of these 2 in the next 3-5 years?
