A lot of times in these games the top end of talent is there to compete for a half of football and then the depth begins to wear and tear on teams. I thought two years ago in the Ryle vs Trinity game this showed as well in Highlands season opener against Frederick D. This season. With so many two way guys it's a tall task to match that level of intensity and freshness for the entirety of the game. With that said it can be done but you have to do your best to slow the game down and get time of the clock in my opinion . If you get into a high scoring affair and don't take your time between snaps , that depth will really start take its toll. If Highlands can effectively run the ball things can go their way . Elder is just Really good ....

Cov Cath has a lot they can improve on and the talent to do so in my opinion. It was 38-7 with about 8:00 left in the fourth and the Birds were working in backups. It was pretty darn lopsided, especially after the 21-0 3rd quarter. Covington Catholic has protected the QB all season much better than they did last night. They gave up 2-3 sacks with a 3 man pressure last night , he took a beating (kudos to him for fighting as long as he did.)

Since loosing to Cov Cath twice in Bobs first season in 2021 , Bob Sphire and the Birds are 4-1 against EE and Cov Cath.

I'll tell you as a Highlands fan I'm not a naysayer. I'm very impressed with your team , who might've had a hard loss to Beechwood but that is a very good tigers team. But I think they got a lot better from that loss considering how they came out and handled business last week. Like you said I expect this to be a battle , a rainy one at that !

Four 1st half turnovers and a win are two things that don't go together often .

Highlands AD attempted a two year deal in 27-28 and it was Declined by the Tigers.

Strength of schedule to me is a clear non factor into RPI ? I'd love to hear some other opinions on this.

My guess is Pabst with player of the game this week and his shiftiness overcomes some smaller holes to run through than usual and the run success is enough to overcome the Colonels this year.

I really try to avoid officiating performance, especially with the issues we have getting them. But last night was bad , unacceptable and the neglect just left me with a bad taste in my mouth. All I can say is go back and watch the game and really watch it and I'd say most would feel the same. The game a week prior a Boyle lineman cut a d-lineman , d- lineman goes to get up then o- lineman grabs and rolls on the back of his knee. D - lineman leaves and never returns (call was probably hard to catch) but yes they hold a lottttt !!!

As a Highlands fan you've got to be excited to know Kaden Sturdavant who's missed the first four games (had a one in a million illness) should be returning right around the time district play starts. 6'4 260 lb monster who will make the defense that much better and give some of our two way lineman more rest. He had a great offseason and is putting in the work to get back to full strength.

I suggest you get ahold of video replay of the play your referring too. I've got it in my possession and it is the furthest thing away from dirty or malicious no matter the angle. Furthermore the young man that was in on the play is the last kid to play in that manner.

Looks like cooper Benke is the only starter left in the game on the d- line . Looks like they seen all they needed from Gabe Williams for the night as well.

Always a good scrimmage , I just don’t think you’ll see very much of either teams ones in this scrimmage. Maybe a quarter and a few drives following before the two’s start phasing in. Quarterbacks have never been live in the past in this one.

Their new field is very nice and was much needed !! If you never stepped on the old field it was highly dangerous. There was about a 6 inch drop off of the visitors sideline on concrete.

I personally think the Tigers leave Park Hills with a W this year.

I think Beechwood goes undefeated in the regular season this year. That Owensboro Catholic re-match is must see !

Highlands Linebacking core might be something to look forward to the most this year. The size, speed , athleticism and football IQ in that bunch is a rare sight in NKY . You’re talking three to four guys that are 6’2-6-3 between 195-230lbs that can flat out move and play with a lot of violence and finesse. Nick S , Jimi C, Tayden L , Colt Kremer , Quentin S , Jaxon Roderick . That position is loaded !

Just like in the spring @THUNDERBIRDS remember Tayden Lorenzens runs would never work , the play was to slow developing. He will never hurdle a legit defender Blah blah blah , it’s called a zone run !!! Clueless.

It’s pretty wild to me that two of the teams best teams players are only 8th graders Amil Wimzie #1 and Jaxton Moeves #13 and the 8th grade just won the Championship on Saturday. I expect a lot of the same at the Freshman level next year. Too Soon?
