And Ipsaro sure did dominate Reed last week and I think the last time they met…..it’s fine if KY wants to give the award to the 2nd best player in the state.

Ipsaro is not only the best, but is the most complete player in the state period. To quote above, He has shut down Reed the last few time they have played. Nothing against Reed and I do not care where He is going to school or how many stars He has……great player as is Meyer for sure, but Ipsaro outshines both and has outplayed both. Ipsaro rebounds, he passes, he draws the toughest defensive assignment on the opposing team and He is lock down. He continually gives up His body and Ipsaro is simply the straw that stirs the drink. There as well, my Freshman year…..and it was Bedlam in the stands as He led that comeback. and I can just remember every 2 seconds checking on the Sun as we were losing light and they had announced that OT may not be possible….best atmosphere ever

Highlands 2023 schedule dropped today and has the showdown with the Colonels on August 25th. As far as I can recall this is the earliest they have matched up since maybe the 1988 season….in that game, still played on a Friday night at CCH in August at 5:30 PM racing to beat the darkness, CCH came back in the second half after being down 21 I believe, to win it when the Colonels made a switch at QB and brought in highly touted Jr. QB Paul Hladon to spark a furious rally. It was something like that….. @Colonels_Wear_Blue can fill the blanks if I am off I am sure. Anyone hearing anything on the Colonels schedule drop? Should be very soon I would think.

It’s all so laughably hypocritical as everyone is patiently waiting for this Ohio Transfer to come in and make Cooper “significantly better”, while the comments over the years have made CCH out to be the evil empire for the absolute exact same thing. So be it. Bring on whomever as we will too. Follow the rules, follow the guidelines and then settle it on the floor. I am sure more schools and more kids will take advantage of this trend and this path. And I am fine with it.

Bored is the perfect way to say it…..couple that with @Colonels_Wear_Blue comment about CCH getting everyone’s A+ game every single night and also with the palpable uptick in talent in the 9th region, it makes for some close games. I have zero doubt this trend will continue through the 9th region tourney, but I also have no doubt The Colonels will defend their title and win the 9th Region Tourney.

I may be crazy but according to CCH’s schedule these 2 meet again on February 10th…..someone please correct me if I am wrong. Defense wins Champions and the Colonels D is so tight and on point right now…..

He is a legit big time athlete. I know how great he is on the gridiron, but I am unfamiliar with his hardcourt skills. Anyone have any more info? As a sophomore next year on the gridiron, even with all the returning high ceiling guys at all the skill positions, I expect him to get meaningful touches in every game…..but that is for a different thread.

There could not be more truth than this. Ipsaro is such a complete player who relentlessly attacks the rim and locks down on defense and is more unselfish then maybe He should be. Lloyd brought it for sure, but ultimately had no answer for arguably the best player in the 9th region. Hats off to Lloyd’s effort tonight! Side Note…..the last 3 games in particular Caskyl McGillis has been Uber aggressive using His crossover(which broke multiple ankles on multiple occasions tonight) to attack the Rim more and more….He could be very exciting to watch down the stretch especially with active and aggressive He is on Defense.

Big game this Friday night as Lloyd Memorial travels to Cov. Cath. to take on the Colonels. Should be a big time Friday night environment at CCH. Do the Colonels suffer a hangover from the Highlands win allowing Lloyd to get the W? Or, do the Colonels continue their lock down defensive tenacity and handle another 9th region challenger?

Willie is going to be an absolute monster on both sides of the ball causing all kinds of problems for other teams. He is an impact player who will swing games for The Colonels.

It’s official and really has been for some time, for the next 2 seasons at least The Colonels will drop down to 4A. Hopefully this means we will see a schedule some time in the next few weeks.

The Connor game was an off night and teams have them……for the great teams those games are as you said wake up calls. And The Colonels were awake tonight and back into Championship form. As for the margin of victory I am not shocked at all as Highlands is not strong or tight at all on Defense and as they showed tonight can be sloppy with the ball. Their early season schedule did not battle test Highlands as The Colonels play in big games almost nightly. It’s just a tale of 2 different teams on 2 different trajectories. And I think what the game stood for tonight with the added emotion and circumstance had The Colonels as fired up as a team can be. And for Hussey, not sure at all why He was out. And yes, Hussey has become their go to dominant #2 option, but He had His worst game of the year vs Connor and more importantly I firmly believe Link, who was a monster tonight, is beyond capable of having games like this with this kind performance. Hussey will be fine and Link stepping up down the stretch will make The Colonels even more dangerous. I expect an even better result this Friday Night at Home Vs. Lloyd, but that is for another thread. Go Colonels.

Excitement does not even cover it! And I can tell you that the CYF is loaded and in a lot of cases we are dominant over in Ohio across multiple grade levels. The Colonel program top to bottom is loaded and will be decisively successful over the next 7-9 years. Even if of couple kids leave, as stated earlier we have too talent to step right in. And as long as we can iron out some issues in the trenches this year with personnel, we are going to be brutal to take on. The build up of the program, the school, the CCH community and all the intangibles in school, on the field, and with the people, has been a beautiful thing to see and be a part of as an Alum and Parent. It always has been and will be a special place. And this will be a very special season coming up for sure. Go Colonels!

I know they want a GCL Team on the schedule and in recent years Lex. Cath. has been a schedule mainstay. I have heard they have been trying to get SK for years and only had luck in the Covid year, but has been no dice other than that.

While you are not wrong here, I am just not thrilled with no longer being in a Class with all the schools we have played for decades. Love playing those schools. Just an OG here I guess that does not like change…..

A ton of parity mid-season makes for a good year of Hoops.

I think this issue, which can be applied to Ipsaro as well(not getting into a debate on whom is better as you can think what you want on that question), but both players players play with a level of speed, explosiveness, and physicality getting to the rim that is next level and not seen around here in maybe forever, which leads me to believe sometimes the refs are unsure how to call their explosiveness so they default to letting them play. Which I think is a good thing as I am a let it play guy and the last thing I want is to see refs try and coral talents like Meyer or Ipsaro or any number of kids that seem to be breaking out. Let’em play and put the 9th region on display. The 9th region tourney is shaping up to be an all-time affair…..and while I can’t wait, I don’t want this season to fly by either. My take on the next level emergence coming out of the 9th as this likely and hopefully will not be the last year of talent like this. Eternal 9th region optimist here….
