If Clay has applied at all the jobs he’s been speculated in, the fact that he hasn’t been hired yet shocks me. He is a fantastic coach, and I hope Mercer hires him if he has applied. Would be a good get for both sides in my opinion.

I’m not familiar with the area, anybody have any ideas? Anybody on staff they may tap as the head coach?

The amount of excitement I have right now, I’m not sure I’ve been this excited about a coaching hire since John Calipari got hired at Kentucky. Extremely excited, and glad that Lincoln County pulled this off. Fantastic hire.

Hmmm I’m not sure then? Maybe a grant or funds they have saved? I’m not 100% sure how school systems do things, they may not be using Covid money for athletics per say, maybe using funds they have and then using Covid money to replace the pot and use for other things? Not sure.

Some of it I think was Covid money, and I think they implemented a nickel tax, plus they will have bonding potential from paying the high school off, I believe if I understand this correctly.

I’d say the process is still on going, who knows if the person they “supposedly” offered the job too ends up turning it down because of not being able to get relocated then other interviews may be held. Who says they have to interview someone already on staff? They know what those guys bring to the table, so sometimes their is no need to interview, could just make them an offer and move on, either way, their could be more interviews coming, we don’t know for sure, we don’t even know who’s been interviewed, I’ve heard their was only one interview, then I heard 3 have been interviewed so who really knows.

Exactly. Who ever it is, will have to relocate, I wouldn’t say the job has been turned down, maybe it’s been offered and someone is trying to figure out if they can relocate and make it work before the say one way or another if they are taking the job? The housing market is crazy right now, so it might be tough finding a house nearby and getting moved so maybe that’s the hold up. If it’s someone from the current staff, it will be announced soon then.

I’d be shocked if their wasn’t a hire in place by next week at the latest. I have no idea who it’s going to be.
