A lot of interest and support in GC for football, it has an opportunity to become a special place, the fan support is there, they just need administrative support and a great coach to stick around.

I remember when Hodge was the middle school Coach For Garrard, he was there for one year and claimed a salt River conference title, if I’m not mistaken the only time Garrard won the middle school title, of course he had some good kids, but I think that speaks to volume of what kind of coach he is, I’ve always thought he would be a good choice, he did very well at bourbon in my opinion, not sure if he would be interested or not, very intriguing to say the least, whoever it is, I hope it’s someone who decides to stay and change the culture of the program from top to bottom, because I really think that’s what needs to be done, a lot of folks may use MQ and GC as a stepping stone to a bigger job, which is not what they need.

One constant I will always see, is everything ends up being about how Boyle County does things… every team in the area strives to be them… ?‍♂️ They have built something really special there.

A little bit off topic, but what ever happened to Terry Yeast that used to coach Harrodsburg before it combined with Mercer? Wonder if he’d have interest? Always thought he was a great coach.

Truth! All I know is, this has been the wildest coaching search I’ve ever seen, so much speculation, names brought up that haven’t even been contacted or even know it’s open for that matter ?, hopefully we see something happen in the next week or so, so this thread can be put to rest.

I didn’t say it was a bad thing, all I’m saying is some coaches may shy from it, ESPECIALLY since it was passed around the town that the only reason Perry got fired was because of a parent, which IS NOT TRUE, but not everyone knows that, and I feel like people could lose some interest because of that, even though it isn’t true. Just my opinion. Everyone is entitled to an opinion regardless, I hope they pick the right person regardless! It isn’t always bad to be coached by family your right, but It’s not always the best either.

It’s not just football…. I agree Montice is a great coach and to be honest I really thought he should of been offered the job to begin with, the very first person, but who im I? I know nothing apparently ? anyways, should be a fun search.

Already knew this, no surprise. I think this job will be harder to fill then people will imagine, apparently parental influence is making a lot of folks shy away from it, if you look at GC from every sport, their is a lot of parental influence, most coaches just want to be left alone and run the program.

@ChiefSmoke filled out a reference form for someone who was going to apply, maybe he has more info? Are they even making phone calls yet? Curious if the person that applied has been contacted?

? ??? nothing I’m hearing nothing, I think people have given up on trying to speculate on this job. Just Wait and see I guess.

I’m not sure anybody’s been contacted, at all, just from my side of what I’ve heard, it’s been quiet and said no one has applied or been contacted, so there’s that too.

Clay Clevenger was a name that was brought up. But again he’s been linked to every open job ???.

???? if it is him I think it’s a good hire, just the things I’ve heard about him have all been positive, at first I kinda scratched my head because I didn’t know much about him, but the people I’ve talked to have all said great things, Garrard County native who I would think stick around and young, just want Garrard needs in my opinion, changing the culture of Garrard County will be key number 1 and the biggest key. If it’s him, Congratulations !

I feel like they have an opportunity. Just my opinion though, 3A is a really weak class in my opinion and they have some talent to make some noise, giving the right motivation and coaching. I guess we will all see when the hire is made, it’s just been a long process to me, but hey that usually Means they are taking their time and trying to get the right person.

Also heard Tyler Ray today with Hester returning as an assistant. I don’t think any contact has been made but I did hear it today.

Why not just give Hester the job and hire the former player as assistant? Give him a few years to start the culture change and just leave it to the former player? I’m not sure who the former player is but Gordon Crowe is a name that comes to mind for me ?‍♂️

I think it all comes down to staff as well, if you have a great OC and DC does it really matter who the HC is? Just thinking out loud here.

Okay, so who’s the home run here? With the folks listed who in everybody’s mind is the home run? Mine is Clay Clevenger, even if he isn’t interested or doesn’t apply I’m saying hypothetically, in everyone’s mind who is the home run in your eyes? I would love to see everyone’s opinion on this.

The home run hire here Has to be Clay Clevenger or Josh Jaggers but they have to sweeten the pot for them not to be lured anywhere else, it’s time they step up and do what needs to be done to keep coaches around and make a great hire not just a good hire.
