I think CAL and Bardstown have proven they're the best two teams in 3A. But you have to play the games....my dad used to say; "he's so DUMB he's HAPPY"....I think you could say about these Tomcats; "they're so YOUNG they're IGNORANT....but in a good way....they just don't know any better....on paper they should've lost the last two games, but all the noise just went "in one ear and out the other". The old man in me just can't get past all the noise, I hope I'm wrong (again) but I think CAL proves to be just too much in this one.

I didn't realize Mason was undefeated until I looked at this thread. Congratulations Mason. But...when I looked at their schedule the two best wins were probably against Greenup and Boyd. Greenup's best game was last week against a very good Lawrence County team. They seem to be peaking at the right time and playing really loose but also very focused. In a tight playoff game that may be the difference. I'm going with a very hungry Greenup team over a very confident Mason team in a close one.

Congratulations to the Tomcats. EC has nothing to hang their heads about. Take away a couple big plays from the Tomcats and this one is a coin toss. District is still wide open but the Tomcats are definitely making it interesting.

I have a bunch of great friends in Raceland. For years they have always complained about one or two teams in 1A standing in their way of a state championship. Back in the day it was Beechwood, LCA, Mayfield, etc. Which have all moved to 2A. Recently the thorn in their side is Pikeville. My question is, what are the chances Pikeville gets moved to 2A in the realignment? If this is likely the realignment timeline can't come soo enough for my friends at Raceland.

Pleasantly surprised! I was just hoping for the young Tomcats to compete, continue to grow, and avoid an Etown blowout. I don't think Etown played their best game but I still believe Ashland took some big steps tonight. Hopefully they continue to improve going into the district games.

Although my heart is with the Tomcats by brain says otherwise. I like this Tomcat team. They are extremely young and in a lot of games it's literally men against boys...but...they are competing and getting better each week and continue to show a lot of promise. Truth is they're still a year or two away from competing with the better teams in 3A. A 10 point spread may be generous in this game. I hope they prove me wrong but I'm guessing around 34-14 Etown.

When the Tomcats have multiple players hitting 3's from all directions it's fun to watch. If they have one of those nights it will be a good game, if not, it could be a long night for the Cats. They have proven they can find a way to win on "off-shooting" nights but that would be a tall task against Catholic. Both teams are well coached, highly disciplined, and very unselfish. Should make for a great night of basketball.

Finally got a chance to watch the entire game on Mytowntv. My takeaways; Do I think that this team is the best team in the state? Honestly....no.....but.....just like in boxing a slugger always has a chance, this team will always have a "shooters" chance. They also have athletic ability and skills that are off the charts. They do lack in size relative to most other top teams in the state but they have been dealing with that for the last two years and have learned through experience and great coaching to deal with it. When the shots are falling it opens up drive lanes and allows this team to beat teams like Huntington Prep. On the other hand if they're not, on a given night they could lose to a lesser team. I know I'm stating the obvious that you have to make shots to win but this team has so many shooters that the nights where someone is not hitting will be few and far between. I like their chances and would love to see a relatively small school from the east bring home the title.

Great game!! The effort from both teams was unbelievable. One of those games where you hate to see either team lose. Ashland is down double digits in the 4th and their point guard fouls out with a lot of time left. It's awful easy at that point, at least mentally, to justify losing. They kept their composure and focused on what they had to do to win. Shows a lot of maturity. If overcoming adversity means anything, and I believe it does, this team will be a tough out in Lexington.
