A little update, I was told he was isolated on the way down to the Mayfield game and everyone thought it was odd when he was on the cheerleader and freshman bus. Not a good look if you ask me. Even if you don’t agree or like him coaching your oline you don’t just get rid of a coach of 50 years and a loyal Beechwood person.

This is the wording I was told as well but didn’t want to release it in that manner. I was told that coach Volker told him there was no need for him any longer. Interesting move for a second year coach to let a coach that is Beechwood through and through for years go. I wonder if there is any other back story as to the reasoning.

I was told let go.

I heard that Coach Burnett or “Coach B” was let go today. Does anyone have any insight to this? I’ve always heard good things about him and was always told the kids at Beechwood loved him.

Any truth to Cantwell from CAL applying?

Looked the varsity played in the third and Mason was up 20-14 when the varsity was pulled.

Does he leave if Scott is a state title contender?

Does he have a background or experience with low income area like Ludlow? CovCath recruits itself, Ludlow and small school football is a different beast compared to CovCath. Has to be high on the list of qualities if I were making the hire. That and experience. Does he have the experience as an assistant to run a program?

Small school has to be able to recruit the hallways or have a staff in the building. Otherwise numbers will crumble.

Whoever it is needs to be in the building. IMO.

With Newport going to 1a, they should have some positive momentum in the program. Hopefully it stops the downward spiral for the past two seasons. Does anyone have Newports schedule? You don’t see much program promoting on that end of things.

I’ve never seen a Freshman coach run independent of the Varsity team when fundraising or budgeting. It’s the program of the varsity HC in those regards. I’m sure he does some behind the scenes work but most every coach has some roles or responsibilities.

I could be wrong, but I thought he coached at Dayton with Chad Montgomery as well.

Coached at Dayton and Bellevue when both programs took a nose dive. No experience as a coordinator. Makes me question scheme and effectiveness on the field. Heard he was passed over by Bellevue last year.

Would be a terrible hire, IMO.

So what’s the real story?

With what little momentum they have, I agree. Also, not idea for the youth league.

Numbers are the main problem but from what I have heard the kids in the youth league are now being funneled to other schools in the area.

Which makes sense you are drawing it on an outside source. Not your teacher pension.

Kentucky Teachers do not get Social Security. You are right though with it changing your retirement if you teach at a private vs public school.

Agreed on the fact they can may find a better coach, but seems like you’re taking a shot at Wynn. Looks like he’s won at two schools who haven’t won a bunch before he got there and just went to the state semis. He is doing something right IMO.

What qualifications would you look for on a resume if you were BW?? state championships? HC experience? winning record? regional championship?
