The Head Honcho is not happy. Losing to a Benedict Arnold like Coach Elsbernd is not ok. But. When the refs know who we are, and know our reputation, it’s clear they’re not gonna let us play our game! It’s always Bracken vs All Y’all. That’s the BCWay. No one wants to see the Polar Bears succeed. This wasn’t Polar Bears playing possum. This was Polar Bears getting jobbed by referees. I’m writing a letter today to the KHSAA. I demand a full investigation into their corruption!

How about the Chainsaw?? Coach Carver bringing the MAGIC to Polar Bear Land and developing Emery Woods into an ALL STATE player. Woo! The Polar Bears are making waves on the glacier baby!!

Woo. How mad does Leslie and Perry get about having to draw? They got lucky this year-- but The draw should be abolished!

I can tell you this: ain’t nobody in Brooksville that doesn’t feel this way. Just walk into Lee’s, Hal’s or Poor Bobs and shout: “seed or draw!?” And there ain’t a feller or gal who won’t shout “seed the district” right back. Call me whatever you please— but all of Brooksville knows who I am. The fine folks of Bracken County support me and my fandom. We’re a passionate bunch. But we’re also some of the most salt of the earth people you’ve ever met. Southern hospitality thrives here. We aren’t a participation trophy team like some others in this district. We think this should be seeded! I wish we hadn’t relented and we’re still holding out not playing them in sports. Seed this dang district!

Unless you understand our storied history you’ll think that. We’re an all time Kentucky HS B-ball program. Adolph Rupp once offered our whole starting five a scholarship. The Polar Bear legend is unmatched. Our name gets us in the door.

Listen here Mr. Numbers man. I follow every BC sport. I run alongside the cross country runners, I cheer every strike and ball in baseball and softball. You better believe I’ve been following football since our inception! I’ve missed one fame, and that’s because my landlord had a splenectomy. When your mom has surgery you just have to go! But you better believe I haven’t let her live down the game I missed. I know you’ve seen some lopsided playoff scores. But. You know what’s beautiful about those playoff games? They were SEEDED big boy. We earned that spot. Even 0-10 just means we earned a beat down as punishment. We didn’t expect any charity draws out of a hat because we’re a small school. We didn’t vote to try and draw so Beechwood had to play Pikeville in round 1. We seed, like men. Like the America I love. There is no room for a draw!

The Head Honcho could not be happier! I’ve never had much use for religion, (all my devotion goes to the Polar Bears!) so I was glad to get in and out of that school alive! Especially after we made that 3 to win the game! Ps: don’t say I didn’t tell you Coach Reed and the boys weren’t about to catch fire! The draw just fired us up even more to get hot!

As long as you’re fine with teaching your kids to run away from competition, and fine with not manning up and seeding. Then have that panther nation all you want. The BC Way raises men. Not scared people who rely on gambling.

He wouldn’t be interested. I have it on good authority he is biding his time at Holmes as an assistant getting good experience and learning, before he gets to come home to his dream job in Brooksville! Once the Chainsaw Tim Carver retires in glory, he’ll receive a hero’s welcome and we’ll have hometown football, basketball and baseball coaches. What more could a Brooksvillian ask for!?

Man. You know it well. Parents tell their kids bed time stories of the 1989 regional win over mason. There’s not many generations of Polar Bears who don’t remember fondly the night they stepped on the sacred field house floor for the first time in February. It’s just different there. Playing in the 10th region tourney to us is honestly how some people might feel playing in the sweet 16... (our favorite time to party!!)

So they are treating these kids as cash cows? If the athletic department needs money, have a bake sale, don't subject your kids to embarrassment at the regional tourney. Leave the trips to the fieldhouse to my Polar Bears. The Teams who truly DESERVE to be there! Not the team that plays patty cake with a schedule and sneaks by!

If the Head Honcho ran things, the world would be full of Pork Tenderloin Sammiches and Ice Cold Mountain Dew!

Well. I’m so pumped up fired up hype for my Polar Bears I couldn’t type a good word! So let’s try this again!! Check out this statement from Coach Reed on his Facebook. If it doesn’t light your fire your wood is wet! “ Got to be a part of my first BLIND DRAW!!! Lol comedy!! What A Complete Joke!! I've played in 100 aau tournaments St pat league (2nd thru 6th grade league) Every one of these things I've been a part of you SEED the tournament!! You always want the best teams in the finals!! COMMON SENSE! Not here in the 39th in the 39th we allow ppl not even playing the games make decisions that impact our kids basketball experience!! Please don't say it's about money!! Mason/Bracken vote to SEED St Pat/Augusta vote to DRAW” Let’s go!!

The head honcho is holding his breath it’s Augusta v Bracken round 3! They will have to put that game on ESPN for all the people who will want to watch!

As the World of Participation trophies turns, the 39th district draw was held in an undisclosed location today. But luckily, the Head Honcho was there! There was a brief discussion on the motion to seed, and somehow, the vote was split 2-2. I was hoping that Coach Hinson would be able to talk some sense into the AHS admins, but no luck yet. Regardless. The draw-ers drew the draw-ers and the seed voters drew the seed voters. Just wish they would settle it on the court like the other 62 districts with half a brain do! But it’ll be Mason v Bracken and St Pat v Augusta for a shot at the district, and the ultimate; a trip to the regional. Some of the luster of a 10th region tourney trip is lost this year since its not at the field house, but alas, I believe in the Polar Bears!

I have to say, to my snowsuit wearing compadre. I Think you misunderestimate me! I am as blue and white as they come. Next time you’re in Brooksville to catch a game, let me know, I’ll buy you a popcorn and we’ll chat about Polar Bears!

It always starts at the Pub after a Dub! But then you never know!!

You boys are starting to see the BRILLIANCE! The honcho is just getting in after a WILD night out celebrating! We achieved the dream, beating Augusta was what Coach Reed wanted this season after they wronged him and disrespected him two years in a row! The chess game didn’t start last night. It’s been going since august. What was brilliant tonight, was he kept his boys down some, and let some other players shine tonight! Jhace Cummins and Zornes both had MONSTER nights. Great development from Coach Reed this year! The chess is being played... and it is about to get very #interesting !

I expect the Polar Bears to win this one so big Augusta will wave a white flag and finally give in to our insatiable desire to seed the district. If Coach Reed decides to play another one close to the polo and play possum I understand that he’s trying to keep these boys hungry for Districts! I see a big night from the Reed Boys and a small night from Kason Hinson. His dad, Coach Hinson, will be so flummoxed by the Reed regiment that he’ll have to put extra gel in his hair to keep it from falling out! If the Polar Bears want to win, and the refs call a fair game, Polar Bears name the score in the Igloo and the Panthers leave with frostbite! That’s a head honcho hunch you can have baby!!

I tell you what. The Polar Bears played hard and played well. I thought Paris was the champs of the All A because they are no doubt one of the best teams in the 10th. If Coach Reed wasn’t coach Reed I’d be a fan of Coach Brooks! That said— nobody goes into Paris and wins. It was a tournament like atmosphere and an intense game. Great practice for some possum playing Polar Bears, who are working on Load Management to be ready for Districts and a trip to the region!!

People have been CLAMORING to hear more from the Head Honcho. And there is nothing the Head Honcho, the prognosticator of prognosticators, the pope of the pork tenderloin, the prince of popcorn, the baron of basketball loves more than to talk 10th region. So. Here's my thoughts so far about halfway through the season. We'll call these: The Honchies. MidSeason awards for the best region in the state! Mid-Season Champs: Bracken County Polar Bears. The reason for this is obvious. I've seen every game played in Polar Bear Blue and White since there was red in the uniforms, and this is the best team ever assembled. Mainly because of the man in the gray polo, Adam Reed. He has this team hungry, humble and hustling baby! He's a wizard with a whiteboard, and the rest of the region is going to have to catch up. Best Coach NOT named Adam This is a tie between 3 coaches. Kelsch, Elsbernd and Hinson. Obviously, each of them has roots in the Polar Bear program, so I have seen them, but you would have a hard time arguing with the coaching job each of them is doing. Augusta has knocked off some mighty foes, Robertson was on the cusp of another All A title, and Pendleton, after losing an all-timer in Dontaie Allen (GO CATS!), has really been playing great team ball lately. Biggest surprise at the mid-point Augusta. They lost Coach Reed and his kids and have STILL been playing great ball. They almost beat eventual All A champ Paris, (Another Honcho Prediction!! 10th Baby!) and they've hung on one Fleming and beaten Robertson. Coach Hinson has those boys running, and they're going to be a threat at the midpoint, I look for big things from them. Best Game So Far I'll remember as long as I live the showdown between border rivals Bracken and Robertson in the All A. After a not great showing previously in the year, Coach Reed had our boys ready come tournament time (Take NOTE!) And they played their tails off. We may have lost by 3 on the scoreboard, but our community was proud of the fight these boys showed! End of Year Predictions Depending on how the cursed draw plays out, don't be surprised to see Polar Bears vs Panthers in a district championship, and then again in a regional title tilt. Both teams are playing great basketball. It wouldn't shock me if GRC or Campbell snuck in there, but I think that come tournament time they won't be able to hang with the 39th! The Head Honcho HAS SPOKEN.

Whooo. It’s gonna take the Honcho a long time to come down from the adrenaline rush of this game! I wish we could have pulled it out, but losing to what is probably the second best coach in the 10th in Coach Kelsch is nothing to hang our heads about. Honestly though, if you watch the tape, like I have no less than 50 times, Becker double dribbled on that last play. I don’t expect refs to make that call then, they hate us! So, I’m satisfied. We’ll be fine come March!!

I’ll just trust the BC Way! We’ll be fine! I still believe in Reed!
