  1. Also, hoping to see some good passing yards tonight. Wasn’t so easy against St.X.. but BG may try to air it out a tad more if our O-Line gives Cooper a little time. Interested to see if our snaps have improved since last Friday!! Also, BG did an amazing job social distancing at the St. X game. If you look on film, every player stood beside a specific cone during the game like a fine oil machine! Game on !!!!
  2. Great win for the Purples. IMO, regardless of mistakes, the Purples stayed poised and never panicked. Those snaps would’ve had most QB’s overly frustrated but Cooper being the athlete he is.. he worked through it! The offense stayed in sync and figured out ways! The defense surprised most. I think BG has kids this year with A lot of heart and athleticism that can flat out play anywhere on that field! Both sides stayed involved with each other. You just didn’t feel the same way with X. I think the Purples opened a lot of eyes last night that weren’t prepared for this type of team, including Wallace and X. Yes, mistakes from both teams; however, BG shrugged those off and kept stompin. I think the South vs BG game should be interesting!! I know South won last night too but the competition level is no where close to X. Again, great to be playing!! what players were the difference makers on the field last night for you guys??
  3. Great to be comparing teams and picking game outcomes!! Shew.. this feels great! I believe every game on 9/11 will look pretty ugly. With no scrimmages and only being in full pads for less than 2 weeks, it’s hard to imagine anything different! Regardless, I think everyone is just excited to be on the field! With that being said, I think both of these teams have great weapons !! The lack of Game-like snaps will show on both sides! I think the defenses will look better than expected due to that reason. I think passing will be more limited as well just b/c it’s so early. Simple things will be important this FIRST Friday!!! The run game may take over the first week! I have to say, offensively, Bunton, Cooper, Dingle, and Wilson are a force to be reckoned with. However, Wallace can take any team (especially a talented one like St. X) and win ballgames! Excited for Friday!! Go Purples!!!
  4. Should be a fantastic game tonight! For both teams sake, I hope the refs that the BG/LC game had.. made their way back to the 3rd Region. That was the poorest officiating I’ve witnessed in a LONG TIME! Terrible this time of the year that refs can be that awful! You mentioned Cooper and Huddleston being in foul trouble.. Mason was as well. Cooper was getting demolished under the basket and they were literally calling charges. I hope they let them play tonight while just keeping it under control. The boys deserve that! Emotions will be intense.. refs should know that. Controlling the game with kids in unnecessary foul trouble isn’t fair for the hard work they put into the game.. IMO. I think WC should have a different mentality going into this game considering they have 11 Seniors to BG’s lone 1! It could come down to some extremely important coaching decisions. Clubb has been up by double digits the last two years and couldn’t hold on to the lead. We’ll see what he chooses to do tonight.
  5. Honestly, I thought the game would be a bigger battle. Other than Greenwood going on a late run in the 4th.. BG’s tempo was just too much for the Gators. They were able to win with Buttry only having 3 points! Mason and Cooper combined for 51 pts last night! I believe the Purples looked like they stepped up their game from the week before. Probably the FIRST game that EVERYONE pulled their part. Whether it was rebounding, blocking shots, smothering defense or scoring ... They just took care of business! Most unselfish game they have played! With the exception of unnecessary substitutions, IMO, BG looked like a top contender. I don’t believe in messing with chemistry when it’s clicking... but hey.. that’s why I’m not a coach! Hats off to Greenwood on a great season!
  6. What team will advance and what TOP team in the 4th Region will go home??? Gut check tonight!!
  7. WC has been playing well. I’d say with 10 Seniors, I believe, they’ll definitely be playing With a lot of heart. They don’t have another year. BG only has 2 Seniors and their playing time is very limited. Unseld seems to let his better talent just play. They’re relaxed out there on the court. BG seems tight like they’re afraid to mess up. There’s no hype ness on the bench at all from the entire coaching staff. The boys definitely aren’t playing up to their potential. Hopefully their Ballard game with be a nice, competitive, learning game right before District begins!!
  8. If the Purples don’t get it together.. 1st round of District will be the end of the road for them. HopTown didn’t beat BG.. they beat themselves. 16 turnovers in a game is inexcusable. They kids that were screwing up last night were left in there to keep making mistake after mistake. Sometimes its just not your night.. if that’s the case, let them watch from the bench. I’m still confused on who’s in charge of that BG team. Coaches talking back and forth amongst one another.. it seems like every week they add a new face to the sideline. Sometimes too many opinions can HURT and confuse kids! No way 7-8 coaches can all be on the same page. Heck you don’t see that many coaches on a college sideline. Hard to watch! Especially with how much talent BG is blessed with. For the sake of those boys, I hope BG gets it together and leads that team where their talent can take them!
  9. If Carver could take Cooper off of the dribble.. he should have. I think Cooper is quicker than Carver for sure. Carver has his length to shoot over him tho. That definitely would’ve got them going that first half. That was my point.. why did Clubb try to bring in a new face to rattle him. He really wasn’t a factor at that point. Once defensive personal changed.. Carver got going. All good players are going to find a way to make a few shots. The key is not letting them get in their groove. Again, BG didn’t adjust, we stayed with the mismatch. Should’ve put Cooper back on him. Plus the mismatch started fouling him and putting him at the free throw line. Didn’t happen first half. All teams definitely feed off of the energy from the students/fans. Always nice to have a big crowd. Post season should be fun and interesting!
  10. Interesting thing several people noticed for BG was Cooper held Carver to 4 points in the 1st half. Carver got a difficult, contested shot on Cooper then the coach switches him off of him. Then he scores BIG. That exact thing is what’s hindering BG. They make the wrong adjustments. Same thing in the WC game. Boyd scores 20 pts in the 3rd quarter on the Bank’s kid and never made a change at all. You could hear in the stands several assistant coaches trying to change things up but their head coach wouldn’t. The chess game is not in BG’s favor. Silly decisions being made keeps putting them in a dog fight at the end of the game! Interesting post season coming up!
  11. What do you think the problem is with WC right now? Too many thinking about offense and not defense? It’s a no-brainer that BG’s offense definitely feeds off of their defense. Plus they want to play FAST and in transition. You slow them down.. that’s when they’re vulnerable! They want to play man-to-man defense and RUN. I was surprised their game last night was so close. They should’ve beat South by 15+. That could possibly light a fire under those boys tho for Friday’s game!! I’m sure Unseld gave them the business. He’ll have them fired up for Friday’s game!!
  12. Love the feedback. I guess you’re right.. every team starts with a chance at tip-off. A lot of chitter chatter around town saying A few of WC’s leading scorers are bickering somewhat over sharing the ball. That’s never good around this time of the year. Obviously, WC has the experience on their side.. I believe they start ALL seniors; where BG starts none. Sometimes it pays to have that experience!! If the refs let these boys just play, and don’t stop them for Nick-picky fouls.. it’ll be another good game. Both teams have athletes that need to just play ball. You’re right.. that Madisonville game they were without Cooper and Wilson due to football. That makes a HUGE difference. We’ll have to analyze this game Friday night for sure!!
  13. I believe if the Purples are allowed to play their game of b-ball.. WC doesn’t stand a chance. Between Mason, Cooper and Buttry .. that’s a vicious trio if their coach would just let them run. Plus the Purples don’t live by the 3 pointer. Cooper and Buttry are insane shooters but they can drive and draw the foul where they’ll hit their free throws. WC is deadly when they’re hitting from behind the arch. I think BG took that away from them the last match up. Smaller gym.. different atmosphere.. should be a great game!
  14. Purples played their style of b-ball the 1st quarter.. RUN, RUN, RUN! 3rd quarter they slowed down and started walking the ball up. Played right into Gwood’s hands. Lots of pieces are coming together for that Purples team. A TON of weapons on that floor! Exciting team to watch.
  15. I have to agree.. BAD is an understatement on how BG looked. HOWEVER, we can’t blame the usual starters that had LIMITED minutes. Except everything to change for the good from what I’m told. They played players against Greenwood that RARELY play. It was strange. Also, this summer this team beat EVERYONE! From Collins to Owensboro.. no one could compete with them. That was without Dingle and Drobocky. They were just playing ball at a fast pace.. that’s their niche. That has been stopped for some crazy reason.Playing 10 players for some unknown reason. Plus, the bench has seen more time on the floor than the starters... I think their next game will be different tho. I’m told some changes have been made to let their athletes ( Mason, Cooper, Buttry) just play ball!
  16. Very interesting game! When a team drives 3 hours in the rain, on a school day, deals with a time change, THEN there are close to 50 fouls called in a game.. there are no words!! None!!!! Basically one ref did most of that! South’s best player ended the game with ONE foul that he picked up in the 4th quarter.. so he never came out. Purples starters had to sit ALOT! Let the kids play some! Geez!
  17. I believe that was still without BG’s football players! They’ll make a HUGE difference!
  18. I believe BG was still without their football players.. they’ll make a HIGE difference!
  19. The Purples really struggled without the football players back. They bring a lot more strength and toughness to the table. Would love to see a rematch with our football players playing..!
  20. My question is.. why would you have made a QB change? Because he was getting Blitzed all night? He never had time to even wait for a receiver to get down field. He did ALL he could to keep it alive. The first quarter BG was moving the ball but penalties prevented momentum. He didn’t throw but 1 bad pass. Then the game plan changed for some crazy reason. Would you have put in different RB’s, receivers and a OL as well? Pretty sure the RB’s that dominated South Oldham could barely get yardage. Cooper was listed as the leading rusher. You have to be given the right blueprint to even be able to execute. CCH backups were in once their backup QB was put in. There was no rush on the QB then. Way different game the 4th quarter! Going back and watching the game on TV.. I give Cooper props. He hasn’t seen that type of line and rushing all year. Props to CCH O-Line... they gave that QB all the time in the world to hit his receivers with somehow no holding penalties. Great job!
  21. Just have to speak on BG Purples offense... I really hate that so many judge this offense. Not sure if it’s by stats or what. Their offense has done very well considering the adversity they have been put through. Pretty sure the JR QB, Cooper, shared drives with the SR QB, Payne, until half of the season was over. Also, their JV QB, at one point, was getting more reps in the games then the starters due to the blowouts and playing some of the 3rd and entire 4th quarter. Lots of their offensive guys share drives. Definitely hard to put up any kind of numbers that way. Let alone get comfortable with each other. I think their O-Line may be the only guys that haven’t switched in and out this season. I give it to these boys for battling regardless. When one player is hot, he still comes out so the next can get his turn. Looking at the KHSAA stats, I see a lot of these QB’s playing entire games, regardless of the score. Not sure how we keep calling their offense scattered or not up to par. They’ve gotten the job done when the pressure was on the most! Proud of these guys. Not too many teams would be where they are this week while being dealt this hand. That being said, good luck to both teams on Friday. Never know what can happen.. heck, Evansville beat UK this year! Lol
  22. Thank you! We’re fans of the tents for it has allowed some of our older fans to come out and support during awful weather. Tents or no-tents.. we’ll be there for this exciting game Friday!
  23. Hopefully you can answer.. is there room in the visitor stands for the canopy tents in case of rain? Thanks! Looking forward to Friday!
  24. I think Cade Stinnett from Greenwood is an incredible player that could possibly become their “go-to” man. Cam Lawrence at Warren Central proved to be highly underrated last year, he’ll be one to watch. Conner Cooper of BG plays on both ends of the floor as well as anyone. He undoubtably led his team in charges taken last year, probably the football in him. All 3 of those guys led their teams in District play last year. Others can add to those... It will be nice to see how the teams come out and play. Several teams can play position-less basketball with their players and I LOVE that. Lots of talent in this region!
