I don't see a high scoring game. Both teams a little banged up. Somerset was very cautious it looked to keep some players out to get healthy. Don't see either team pushing too much with playoffs around the corner. I'll take Somerset 32-14.

PC won't be much without QB. Hopefully he can return for the Maroon's by playoffs.

Good win with Corbin coming up next week. A few players not dressed Speaks, Madden, and Simmons. Grundy, Austin not dressed after half time. Hope team can get healed up before playoff's, but with Corbin it will be a physical game.

They lost they're guard against Beechwood. I believe Simmons kid. I was under the impression he would return around the time Madden did.

As far as last week goes Somerset looked good in the secondary with the return of Madden, but does anyone know if the jumpers are getting they're big lineman back, and will he return? After what I seen tonight, 2A champion could easily come out of District 7. Much respect for both teams. They both are legit. Wow what a game. Can't wait for round two. Hard to beat a good team twice.

Somerset will be the best defense LCA has played this year with the speed to match. LCA defense is better then last years, but still not great. I'll take Somerset 32-28, but this game could easily be a OT game. No matter who wins the second match up won't be easy.

Watched the Somerset game, and again on film. Hazard had 80 some yards total offense earned. Officials call 250 some yards on Somerset and the Bunnies still won. I feel if The episodes that happened hadn't we wouldn't of been having this discussion. Danville isn't very good this year. Hard to gauge, but feel Hazard are top 5.

He was took to LCRH by ambulance after the Mayor of Hazard made them transport because they refused unless family paid a $1000. The EMS is private owned, it was a mess. Yes he's out for the year, surgery went well. On that note, as I was saying before Austin as well is almost as good, and is a 100 + game back just hasn't had the carries that Miller has. Garland, Burner, Smith are bulldozers. Somerset lost a great kid, but are deep enough to make run as they were. If anything it's hard to beat a good team twice as in LCA. Burner ran over them last year, won 36-0. Then in Regional LCA went up 17 pts in 2 min with zero first downs then Somerset took over leading to the best ending to a heart pounding game. My point is I expect the same this year no matter who wins in two weeks could easily be sent home third round. Madden being back adds speed to the back field and slot, and puts they're starting corner back on defense this will have Somerset Secondary back rolling, and getting the Simmons kid back puts the big lineman back on the line, and will make the power ball back. Somerset will be fine because they have to many weapons. They're not a 1,2 or 3 man show like most teams. They're loaded and deep. Losing Miller was horrible hate it for him, but he'll be playing on Saturday some were he has to many offers, just has to work hard. Maybe red shirt. Somerset over came a lot of adversity, and won. A team tested that much in one game, and over come to win 21-9 at Hazard against all chances shows they have the heart to be Champions, just got to play one game at a time.

He is a great lose, but Somerset has studs that run the ball. Need to look at all stats. Austin, Burner, Garland are solid. Somerset will be fine.

Somerset had everything stacked against them Friday night. When Miller went down it was on they're side line, not away from the team. Those boys had to stand there seeing they're brother in the pain. Teammates in tears hurting inside with him. The bond of this group is deep, and definitely like any team mentally broke them. 200+ penalty yards to 20+ for Hazard and they still won 21-9? Was a absolute embarrassment for khsaa officials, and nothing against Hazard coach he had to tell them many times how to do they're job. This impressed me more about this team. Against all odds they didn't fold , and won this game convincing score. A team that can go through that, and pull it out when it's falling apart is special, and dangerous. Somerset losing Miller is horrible, but have really good horses in the stable. Somerset will be returning Madden back next week I'm told this will strengthen they're secondary back, and I'm told next week Simmons will be back that puts the size back on the line. Hazard had a great game plan by running the clock, but honestly exposed nothing. They didn't break runs, and had a few flat passes, but one score helped by bad calls isn't exposing, and they're kicker is amazing. Somerset is fine except losing Miller, but will have to adjust. Note I don't blame Hazard for officials they seemed as lost as Somerset was on the calls. One coach at Hazard apologized for it. Much respect for Hazard Mayor stepping in and getting Miller to Somerset for surgery when the hospital refused to transport him without a $1000 cash.. Alot went on that night a lot didn't see, or know about. Was a bad night all around, but bunnies stepped up and showed they won't bend. Hazard will make a run. This was a great article as well.

Congrats, a radio station gave it to him, or newspaper etc for a great performance against a horrible team. Heck a lake Cumberland sports gave it to a kid from Somerset Friday that only ran the ball when JV is in. That's just normal local media. How many D1 athletes does breathitt have? Yep probably none, but yet you say they can beat Somerset with a offense that that starts 7 kids on offense with offers, other 2 JRs with visits, 4 with D1 offers, and that's not to mention the defense by 3 scores? All I'm saying is reality is they aren't on Somerset, LCA, or Mayfield level. I don't believe they could beat Hazard by 3 scores either. Shame Breathitt had to play talent both ways. Won't work against teams that don't, that doesn't wear down. GL Friday night.

I understand loving your team, and wishing them well, but sometimes a fan most come to reality and understand that beating Jenkins, Middlesboro, so on and so on with the weakest schedule in 2A need to give them self a reality check. The only 2A teams capable of beating Somerset, Mayfield, LCA is each other. To be honest from what I've seen I don't even see Breathitt beating OC or maybe even Beechwood. They have good players, but not great players. Mayfield loaded offense, LCA loaded offense, but young Somerset loaded. You can disagree all you want it's your right, but the big eye don't lie, nor does the schedule. Leslie co. Is they're toughest game, and even Leslie isn't very good. Somerset 40-hazard 13.

This is just a opinion, and not knocking any kids. Everyone has great players when they're blowing out bad teams. If that's the case then Somerset Miller and LCA RB, Mayfield Stintson should be All Americans. My point is it's easy to look like a great players when your better then who you play, and playing the worst teams that are last place, Or second to last in they're respected districts. I watched them against Rockcastle, and have seen film. They are overrated and would be a #2 or 3 in district 1and 4. Until they beat a better team to prove otherwise, (and Leslie isn't that good either) they won't make it past 3rd round.

Somerset Defense will be to much for Hazard. To much speed for Hazard. You also got to look at they're playing at Hazard, and that's important as well. This Hazard team lost alot from last year as well. Somerset still has two key starters out in Madden and Simmons both expected back by LCA, but to this point hasn't made a difference because Someset is deep. Somerset starting defense has only gave up 3 TDs others were against JV freshman, and a kick off return. Not to shabby. The secondary is better then I thought. They were with out starting corner Madden and only got beat twice early at Williamsburg then locked in. Williamsburg is mostly pass. If they come in throwing the ball around every play it will make for a long night and won't eat the clock keeping Somerset offense on the field and that's not a good idea against the bunnies. The clock stops on incomplete passes, and this is the best defense they've seen. They tried it last year and got smacked 34-7, and pretty much the whole offense returns, and defense. 75% of the secondary returns, and linebackers. Somerset is no joke stacked.

That's very true, but Leslie County and Frankfort not on Somerset level. Know one yet has stopped this offense, and the run game is more solid then the passing game. If Williamsburg can keep Somerset under 35 would be a miracle with the film I've seen, but I'll be the first to tip my hat if im wrong.

Male enrollment is around 80-100. The info on why they're not playing came from a Friend who's son is on the team. Said it will be hard to restore.

The last coach Fleming I believe 2 yrs ago had them at 34 players most ever, but the super gave the job to someone else letting Fleming go. The kids won't play for him. They wanted Fleming to stay. Sad, very sad.

Somerset run game to strong, defense to solid. Williamsburg line will be the issues against this fast defense, and they have hitters, and that's not good for ponder if he has to scramble.

A lot are going to find out how good Somerset defense is. They only aloud 1 TD against varsity, 1 kickoff TD and 2 late against Jv. Beechwood, and Rockcastle found out when they shut the pass down. Somerset defense is to fast and good for the jackets OL. Secondary is nice. 2 returning corners, and safeties that started half the season last year. Ponder will see more pressure then he's seen all year. 42-7 Somerset.
