  1. 3-0 Reds after the first. 2 first inning homers and a Votto double off Verlander
  2. Call me crazy, but I miss George Grande and wish we still have him over Thom.
  3. Good win for the Reds against a team leading their league (and tied in all of baseball) for the most wins!
  4. Just looked up GIDP, as I felt Winker had to be leading the league and was shocked by 2 different results. 1. Winker ranks 16th in the league. I’d have figured that much higher. 2. The career leader is Albert Pujols. I know he’s had a handful of down years, but who thinks of that name as a career leader there. Really made me realize that when it comes to most of these players it’s all in what perspective you view things in.
  5. Gotta love Suarez up in the situation that could be easily to swing out of your shoes and taking an easy inside out swing against the shift to extend the lead! That’s the kind of things the Reds, and any ball club, HAVE to do!
  6. I know he popped a bunt up earlier, but it’s clear the amount of work Castillo has put into bunting, and that is nice to see out of an athlete in today’s society. It actually reminds me of watching Cueto try to bunt early on vs what he was by the end of his Reds tenure.
  7. Baseball is a long season. I’m still a firm believer it’ll all level out.
  8. I won’t jump on the anti-Votto talk, but just saw this stat. Jay Bruce- 11 RBI in 5 games for the Phillies. Votto- 12 RBI in 56 games for the Reds. Yikes.
  9. The Reds travel to Philly to take on the Phillies over the next 3 days. Tonight’s game is at 7:05, tomorrow’s at 4:05 and Sunday’s is at 1:05. Let’s go Redlegs!
  10. Fantastic that Beechwood is representing NKY at state. I had predicted in an earlier thread for them not to make it out of the 9th, and in my mind this would be the eventual title game and Highlands experience there would take over. Beechwood was poised from the get-go and did not let this happen. Congrats to the Tigers!
  11. No Votto again today. They said with the day off tomorrow it wouldn’t make sense to play him today.
  12. Reds up 6-0. Given the Reds experiences this year in games like this, I’m nervous.
  13. I’m okay with it there. LF was just about at the ball and was coming forward as Peraza got to third. Also, you have your 3 hitter coming up next. That’s a low percentage play to send him, but if any player could it’s probably the speedy Peraza. It’s a whole lot easier to type this with a tie ballgame rather than if Suarez has a double play to end the inning lol.
  14. This team sure can be confusing. Have innings like earlier where it looks like they don’t have the mentality to win anything, and then an inning like this. Starts out with an out, Peraza battles out a walk, Votto fights off an inside pitch for an opposite field single and then Suarez does his job to tie it up. Crazy to see both sides of them so often.
  15. Agreed on both. I defend the Reds on a lot of things but some of the baserunning is inexcusable.
  16. Not sure what Barnhart is doing there, but it could come back to hurt.
  17. This is a huge start for Castillo. He’s had a great start to what is becoming a breakout season. He got roughed up in the last start. The best pitchers can put that last start behind them and come out today without trying to do too much and have a great outing.
  18. This may improve them, he’s struggled this year. Sucks his one homer is a huge one against the Reds too!
  19. Sure would help that entire offense for him to get rolling.
