  1. He literally acknowledged and refuted that point before you even made it. Last year WAS the worst year of his career. The worst year of what has been a darn good career. Still a very good year. Whether you agree on the 25 million or not is matter of opinion and you two could argue until you were blue in the face about it. You don't like Votto, we get it. Please move on haha. :jump:
  2. I agree, impressive. I didn't say that as a shot at all lol.
  3. Mahle gives up a home to the opposing pitcher. 1-0 Mets.
  4. 0-0 after 2. Mahle with a downright dominant second inning, struck out the side. Needs a quick third to rein that pitch count back in.
  5. Interesting note I saw this morning. Billy Hamilton is hitting .235 with the Royals, which would place him behind only Winker in Reds outfielders as far as BA. With that said, I don't miss him, especially if we'd stop playing Schebler.
  6. It is 36, and the in season tournament games do count against it. That is a good point that I hadn't considered.
  7. Tonight's Lineup: Votto (1B) Suarez (3B) Winker (CF) Puig (RF) Dietrich (LF) Barnhart © Iglesias (SS) DeSclafani (P) Peraza (2B)
  8. I believe Schebler has one option left. For the Reds, and honestly his career, it makes the most sense to send him down.
  9. Don't look now, but CovCath is 15-11. The rest of their schedule is below. 5-1- Conner 5-3- Dixie 5-4- Boone Co. 5-7- Beechwood 5-8- Highlands 5-9- Brossart 5-10- TBA 5-11- TBA 5-13- Campbell Co. 5-14- NCC 5-16- Simon Kenton 5-17- Ryle Districts Region State
  10. The Reds are #4 in bullpen in the MLB. I'm not sure that he's done a bad job managing it. Probably the only change I would make on a routine basis is to eliminate Garrett being a specialist. I think his stuff is good enough to get right handed hitters out too, but I'm willing to give Bell a chance to make his magic work over the long haul. You can question the usage of Duke, but there is literally no one in AAA to take his place in the bullpen as a lefty, now if you're willing to replace him with a righty you can make an argument. While he's here he can't just rot on the bench. Going to need to use him eventually and with few blowouts either way that has had to have been in tight games. I think people are looking at his bullpen management with an absolute microscope because every game has been so tight due to the lack of offense. Then when one bullpen guy gives up one run (like last night) it stands out so much greater. Bullpen guys all over the league give up runs, but sometimes they have the benefit of their teams being up by 1 or 2, heck sometimes even 3 runs.
  11. It was dumb, 100%, but I wonder if that's Votto's alignment or if that comes in from the dugout as well. They literally change alignment pitch by pitch, so you'd think they would have moved him in. Dumb either way though.
  12. I'll agree with these statements. He is a very bad baserunner. I remember back to his inability to slide as well.
  13. Tonight's lineup: Peraza (2B) Votto (1B) Suarez (3B) Puig (RF) Casali © Ervin (CF) Winker (LF) Iglesias (SS) Castillo (P) Amazing how much different that lineup looks with Ervin and Casali in it. (Side note: I still think Barnhart comes around)
  14. 100% agree with that. If Andy can't get it done and there is someone they believe can take the franchise for the next level it will be time.
  15. I know I've been one of the first to dog the negativity on the Reds boards, but I will agree with this. Every once in a while I just wonder how in the world you can be on the major league level and enter some at bats with the approach they do. Example: if we have two guys on in a tight game, the last thing I want Puig to do is watch two fastballs. (Did this the other night) I'd be happier with an absolutely selfish over swing in that situation. Instead he watches the first two strikes and swings at an off-speed pitch in the dirt.
  16. The Reds really need Castillo to get deep in the game tonight to set the bullpen back up for the rest of the series. They actually did a really good job spreading it out last night for the amount of innings they covered, but it would be great to only use 1-2 guys today, or 2 and a specialist.
  17. Love that this thread is lit up with posts about wanting Rosen, who another team thought so much of to move on from after 1 year. 25+ other teams thought so much of him not to even offer the 2nd round pick that the Dolphins eventually gave. Maybe Taylor knows what he's doing? For fun, if Andy is put on the trade block during the draft, would he fetch a 2nd rounder?
  18. Tonight's lineup: Peraza (2B) Votto (1B) Suarez (3B) Winker (LF) Puig (RF) Schebler (CF) Iglesias (SS) Barnhart © Roark (P) 1. How bad does Schebler have to look in order to lose his spot? It's absolutely infuriating as a fan at this point. I won't even hop on the bring Senzel train, but you have Ervin here, PLAY HIM!! David Bell comes across as absolutely stubborn with it at this point. Makes a fan want to turn off the TV. 2. What thought process goes into whether the pitcher hits 8th or 9th. I know it doesn't make a great difference, but it seems once a week Bell goes with the traditional pitcher in the 9 hole lineup. I'd be interested in hearing Bell's thoughts on those two things.
