  1. Mayfield 42, Somerset 33 Mayfield’s skill-position players separate the two teams, especially the four dynamic receivers (Neely, Daniel, Puckett, and Diaz). Should be a GREAT game! Good luck to both!
  2. Congratulations to Mayfield and Coach Morris! That O-Line was fantastic and cleared gigantic holes for Galbreath all night long. Stinson/Neely connection equally as impressive. Having seen both teams, I’d give the edge to Mayfield. No matter who wins, congratulations to both schools! Noel Rash and his crew should get some kind of award for the job they did with this undersized, undermanned team this year. For them to get to the semis after starting 1-4...just really impressive. They just ran into a better team tonight. Congrats to Tiger Nation on a great season! The future is very bright.
  3. Hypothetical 2A District 6 skill position team....the disclaimer here is I don't know ALL of the linemen enough to properly awared them spots on this theoretical team. QB - Cameron Hergott (Beechwood) QB - Kaleal Davis (Newport) RB - Giaunte Jackson (Newport) RB - Dakota Thiel (Lloyd) RB - Cole Stammer (Beechwood) WR - Brandon McClendon (Holy Cross) WR - Treyshawn Cody (Lloyd) WR - Simon Keating (Newport) WR - Brady Moore (Beechwood) TE - Gage Dollenmayer (Beechwood) ATH - Mason Williams (Beechwood) ATH - Jacob Davidson (Lloyd) K - Colin Graman (Beechwood) Discuss...
  4. CovCath was beyond gracious to us and put us on top of the press box last year. It was a perfect night weather wise and it's still one of the best views we've had while calling a game. By the way, CWB, do you recall the story/urban legend of the beloved CovCath assistant freshman coach/support guy who actually either fell off of or almost fell off of the top of the old Wooten Field press box in the early 90's? That story still comes up every few years with my CovCath buddies.
  5. As a member of a school broadcasting team, I can tell you that the majority of schools we've visited over the past three years have been very gracious in hosting us and have given us access to their press box in one way or another, whether that be access to the prime spot, the top of the press box itself (roof), or shoehorned us into the 4-5 feet left. We've had some great situations, but sometimes tougher situations are impossible to avoid. Some schools just have limited space due to their tiny boxes or they just have no room for all of the outlets needed. The TOUGHEST thing for us is being put next to an opposing team's coaching staff, support staff or broadcast team. I'd almost rather be in the stands in those situations simply because some can/have been very chippy to say the least.
  6. LaSalle 18, Beechwood 10 - End 1 Draud 5 Bieger 3 Decker 2
  7. Congrats to Drew Hartz on a tremendous career at Owensboro Catholic! Wow. Did not anticipate this at all.
  8. Well, start with the previous matchup which was much worse of a show of dominance than the score showed. Newport had ZERO answer for Beechwood on either side of the ball. Further, not sure if you noticed, but the first half of Beechwood's schedule this year was against five outstanding teams. Since then, they've outclassed every opponent - see Newport losing 38-0 for reference - except for a very good NCC team. Newport is nowhere near the level of Paintsville, Somerset, Corbin, CovCath, Taft or even NCC. We have two games that show that - again, 38-0 vs. Beechwood and 37-6 vs. NCC. So what exactly have you seen in Newport or Beechwood that makes you think the Tigers AREN'T capable of putting up only 11 more points against the Wildcats than they did last time?
  9. Saw in the RPI that Shelby Co. was ranked higher than Central. How in the world did that happen? Based on RPI, this is an upset...but it sounds like those in the know are very resolute this, in fact, was not an upset. Thoughts?
  10. Looks like West Carter on a crash course for a 3rd round trip to Ft. Mitchell to face the Beechwood Tigers! Congrats on a nice win, Comets!
  11. I didn't realize Male's coach was from Ft. Thomas. What's his story? Where did he play/coach prior to Male? Interesting.
  12. Didn’t know he had been injured. Sorry to hear that. Fantastic player.
  13. Are the younger kids getting burnt out at the lower/mid levels? Lots of practicing in the offseason, lots of traveling and heavy emphasis on off season participation? Just wondering. Seems to be an issue with some programs in the area where the moms and dads of the younger ones simply have the doing too much. By the time they get to the mothership, they’re burnt out and quit playing or have a hard time adjusting to the natural changes that occur from youth/middle school to high school.
  14. How does that related to the title of this thread? Crone doesn’t play freshman football last time I checked.
  15. Strasburg seems like a logical target for Cincinnati lol
  16. The only things I predicted differently were the following: * Edmondson winning the 3rd * Lexington Christian winning the 4th (what a game!) * Lloyd Memorial defeating Newport this week in the 6th * Shelby Valley winning the 8th
  17. Gotta tip my cap to Drew Hartz from Owensboro Catholic. Pretty ridiculous numbers this season, including an eye-popping 49 touchdown passes and ONLY three interceptions. Mercy. For those of you in the know, is Hartz committed anywhere at the next level?
  18. Leon Marshall from Dixie is a back that could have a great game this weekend! While his numbers weren't off the charts this year, he is a very solid back. Coming into this past weekend's upset vs. Scott, Marshall had 489 yards on 108 carries and 8 touchdowns, while only receiving 39% of the Colonels' carries on the year. This weekend when Dixie takes on Ryle, I would give him the ball early and often and hope for the upset. In their first matchup on Oct. 18 when Ryle barely edged Dixie, 13-8, Marshall rushed for 77 yards on 17 carries and scored the Colonels' lone TD.
  19. Those are some incredible numbers! What year is this young man? Out of nowhere or did he shine last season as well?
