I don’t think they’re terrible, but definitely not good.

I think the whole “Director” or “Vice President” thing can be said for a lot of jobs. Vice President assistant director of X. Obviously a dramatization but I very much agree, coaching is hard in any sport, then you add in being a head coach of a football team which is one of the biggest if not the biggest sport in KY Highschool, that’s a lot of pressure and work.

I agree, Bowling Green and South currently do this with lacrosse and it's certainly a headache. Not only the travel, but you're right I think they try to remain in 5A.

If Covington Catholic moves down to 4A, Freddie and South Warren move up to 6A I think it makes 5A a lot less interesting. Not that there couldn't be very competitive season, but that's 3 of the consistently top 6 (give or take a down year) moving divisions. I don't see BG playing up, but I could be wrong. Scott County, Bowling Green, Highlands, Owensboro, Woodford, Pulaski and Southwestern would still be quite competitive I believe, but nothing like the past couple years. However, I do think these changes would make 4A and 6A much more entertaining. Freddie D and South Warren on a normal year can play with the best of them. Covington Catholic has also been very good in 5A for a while now, so 4A would add another very competitive team.

BG has had the ball in FD territory 5 times, but only scored once.

Been a great game so far. I am surprised by BG’s offense putting up so many yards, even though I knew they were very good.

I love the energy Douglass plays with, both teams flying around.

I liked the strategy of taking Bailey’s helmet off as they both got up, it clearly helped that drive. Big brain move.

I’m not sure, it just didn’t seem like enough to me. I may have missed something.

I know I picked BG to win, but I tend to do that even when they play teams like Warren Central of Indiana. I agree with this post as well, definitely a realistic outcome and you’re exactly right about BG coming out flat and struggling up front. It will require their best effort and coming out strong.

I have no clue about either of these teams besides their history and tradition. I’ll take mayfield in this one, I think it would be poetic if they won state nearly one year after the tragedy that happened to their town. Mayfield 35 Beechwood 34

The entire first half. They consistently gained 3-5 yards up the gut, and did nothing on the outside. If you disagree then that’s fine, it’s my observation.

Similar, more running and not nearly as many screens. I think that’s due to the difference in personnel. Seeing as Wallace and Spader were two peas in a pod, I’d say Wallace knew exactly how to pick the defense apart. It also didn’t help with how many dumb mistakes BG made, from the opening kick to dropped passes all over the place.

As I said in my prediction, BG will need to capitalize on mistakes to score as many as predicted. I think that after watching Owensboro run up the gut and be decently successful that also plays into BG’s hands. BG QB is very mobile and confident with a strong arm, his receivers will need to catch the ball consistently as well. BG could very well score 0-7, but they could also score 20-28. It’s a tough game to predict for me because of last weeks games. FD made a lot of silly mistakes, but so did Owensboro.

Can’t speak on the others, but they were tied with McCallie until the 3rd quarter and proceeded to lose 28-14. Father Ryan just couldn’t find a way to win, which makes them look pretty awful.

I agree, if BG doesn’t convert on that final 2pt conversion I’m not sure BG is even in the state final. It seemed to very much be the catalyst for the team growing up and becoming what they are now. I also think it helped the defense enormously, seeing as they were picked apart on almost every drive.

Wow that is a ton of seniors, didn’t realize that’s how many they had. Out of the starting offense and defense, how many are seniors?

I agree, they had great talent, but man I despised watching that offense.

This is true, that offense was ugly ugly. But that defense was just outstanding, seems to be a similar story for FD.

I’ll always pick my home team, but I suspect it should be a good game decided by who capitalizes on mistakes. BG 28 FD 21

Huddleston reminds me a lot of Javy Bunton.

From the eye test the BG OL looks much much bigger. Especially the interior.

Gonna take a big play or a whole lot of up the middle runs to score on FD.
