Pulaski County vs. Bowling Green 5A Championship
I'm sorry but put Pulaski in District 1-4 and I'm not sure they crack the top 5...could be totally wrong because I haven't seen them play and I'm basing this off of what I've read and seen from other teams. I mean could this team beat this yrs play off versions of Owensboro, Greenwood, Christian County, Fern Creek, Cov Cath, or Doss? Just curious? Not trying to throw any shade on Pulaski for making it but do you guys think these are the best two teams in 5A? I guess it'll play out Sunday

Very Telling About Kentucky High School Football
Don't know why we are considered a basketball state I'd be willing to say that we've had more homegrown football talent make it than basketball. When I say make it I mean to the highest level professionally

Very Telling About Kentucky High School Football
Right on! South Florida has beautiful weather year around and beautiful beaches...What's that equate to, beautiful bodies. Kids eat what parents eat is my explanation after living in south Florida. Plus being able to practice outside year around and knowing speed is your ticket out okay a role to. A skilled large back in ky is an o-lineman in Florida just not the overall size there.

Very Telling About Kentucky High School Football
Totally agree. Think about this if you sign 3 players just 3 a year and if they stay all 4yrs then guess what there's 12 players out of your own back yard. May not sound like a lot but when you've got a team of 85 from all 50 states 12-15 from one state is a small gathering to say the least. But does fall back on the recruiters and the Head coaches actually assigning this state to a recruiter.

Very Telling About Kentucky High School Football
Ok I can understand this. I felt like you were saying UK or UL couldn't win with KY players

Very Telling About Kentucky High School Football
To name a few...Arliss Beach, Taylor Bagley, Shane Boyd, Terry Clayton, Lonnell Dewalt, Justin Haydock, Andrew Hopewell, Matt Huff, Jason Leger, Dominic Lewis, Marcus MCclinton, Gerad Parker hmm should I keep going??

Very Telling About Kentucky High School Football
Really? I was starting to agree until you stated that Towles would have done better at a lower D1 school. What hurt Towles was the system not the level I mean where is WKU's former QB at now? That's right the Broncos as in NFL.

Very Telling About Kentucky High School Football
Hmm just look and see how UK built its team under Rich Brooks when they where uber competitve...A ton of KY bred Talent Dre Woodson, Keenan Burton, Curtis Pulley, Ricky Abren, Jacob Tamme to name a few...Let's not fail to mention Bush, Montrell Jones, Eric Shelton, lefew, at Louisville (probably forgetting a ton) during the same period...seems like our top programs forget what brings them back to prosperity too me. But to say our guts can't compete is laughable lol!

If I Were A High School Player Today.....
I think some are blowing this out of proportion. Have you ever thought that we just like talking football? No different than what we see and hear everyday on sport talk shows or t.v. Doesn't make what you see on BGP the stone cold truth, no it's opinions and debates. It's like taking the hitting out of the game...Now we want to take the debating out to I mean where is the fun in that???

Bowling Green at Fern Creek Class 5A Semifinal
Not to win. I posed the question was it the solution to slowing BG down. Too many weapons to stop! BG likes to get the ball to their play makers in space, and Payne is very smart throws a great ball but not with a lot of velocity. You can account for the WRs but you cannot account for that MAN in the backfield which is why I think teams are blitzing hoping to limit his touches. No knock against BG just asking if Fern Creek has the horses to get it done.

Also worth noting that McCracken had 4 turnovers in the first half/ out gained BG...CC had 7 turnovers for that game and out gained BG... Good luck with the blitzing...

Mayfield LB # K. Arnett
Could someone define defenseless...because this player was engaged with a player before getting hit. Because if this is targeting then every crack block used by offenses through out this season should had been targeting also
-
Mayfield LB # K. Arnett
Wow I'd be willing to guarantee that if the kid that gets hit jumps back up that there is no call. Not seeing much targeting in this clip

Penalty for Targeting in high school
This is football! Intimidation is part of the game. Every player is trying to "lay out" the next. Big hits are part the game and explosive players can deliver them with ease. Maybe I'm old school but I was always taught not to let up that I was helping someone understand that this sport wasn't for them...As far as the targeting I don't like it because it's to vague and perception is a slippery slope. Especially if it's deemed beyond the field of play. I see a play and I say good job that player could have affected the outcome...the official sees the same play as unnecessary...

Fern Creek 35 Covington Catholic 28
I think you are forgetting or don't know that this is Coach Eviston second year at the helm. I don't follow Cov Cath and know very little about the team but I know this guy was a winner! Don't believe me google him or ask any body who played Georgetown College in the early 2000's. Great players don't always make great coaches but judging by a 9-4 record and a strong showing in the playoffs in just his second year, is reason for all Cov Cath fans and alumni to be happy.

Bowling Green at Fern Creek Class 5A Semifinal
I think CC laid the Blueprint to slow down (not stop) the Purples offensively. Watched Owensboro be effective in spurts with some of the same stunts. Since you've seen all these defenses do you think Fern Creek can have similar success as they are a good defensive team. Also do you think the change at center has created the protection issues?

5A Playoffs Bowling Green/Owensboro Predictions
No need to be modest, I'll say it for you...this game won't be close. I'm sorry, but you can't be this one dimensional and beat a team that's going to score points like BG is going to score points. Owensboro has improved but the same problems that existed the first go around still exist now.
-
Bowling Green 44 Christian County 29
On a side note Juice (Carothers) is the real deal! Read about a back in Ohio approaching 4000yds, doesn't look half as impressive as this kid from BG! Ijs if you haven't had a chance to witness this, you need to!
-
Bowling Green 44 Christian County 29
Don't know what all the fuss is about. Bottom line is this. CC was a darn good team! With an Athletic secondary, great D/line, and good Lb's. But couldn't hold the Purples under 40pts either of the two times they played this year. Heck they put up 31 on X. This team is really special as I think Purples88 put it. Why that is really doesn't matter. Good luck Purples!

Bowling Green 44 Christian County 29
You don't see CC fans suggesting that our 17 penalties were the reason we lost...no it's the turnovers. Yet some fans are implying that CC's holding caused for a closer game. Not true. Hard fought game between two teams whom were not ready to go home.

Bowling Green 44 Christian County 29
CC-91 yds rushing CC-331 passing BG-173 yds rushing BG-241 yds rushing CC penalties 17-163 Never heard of a team fans making excuses for a good game. Facts are facts. BG is a great team and won.
-
Bowling Green 44 Christian County 29
CC was called for 17 penalties...to BG 6. Sounds like sour grapes to me. There was a lot of holding going on for both teams, on BGs last big run for a TD #70 practically tackles a CC player right in front of the white hat. But guess what...it wasn't called. Great game between two great teams.

Bowling Green 44 Christian County 29
Great observation! I would take it a step further and say that BG expected to win and CC hoped to win. I believe that winning pedigree plays a large role in these type of games. BG players remained focused and continued to play with in themselves. While the CC players started playing outside of themselves trying to do too much, when you should let that block go because the defender is pulling away, instead you grab and hold etc...BG is a top class program I have nothing but the upmost respect for what they are doing! If you want to be the champs you have to beat the champs, making 5A that much better in the West!
