You are correct. Franklin County is pretty doggone good.

Different year. I noticed some people were bashing Spencer for losing to Franklin County last week. I noticed Franklin lost to Butler by 5. I thought I saw some preseason rankings having Butler winning their region? I just think people need to realize it's a new year. First week of the season. Let's see who is good before we make assumptions. I can tell you that Oldham County team I watched last night was pretty good. I don't care what they lost. They still have a bunch of seniors while Spencer County starts three sophomores and the freshman is getting starter minutes. Spencer County was right there at the end.

You were told wrong. The player your talking about shouldn't be allowed to return if what I heard is true. Get out and watch some games and then form your opinions. Spencer County will be just fine. Is there a younger team in the state? Four of the top 6 are 3 sophomores and one freshman. Yet they are competing against the top teams. They look like nothing warming up but when the game starts they compete.

Only thing that matters is post season. With that schedule they should be more than ready.

Oldham County won 66-59. It was an intense game. Oldham came out and immediatley started exploiting Spencer's size. Spencer County was down 17 early in second quarter. Then they seemed to figure some things out and came roaring back. Spencer County outplayed them the rest of the game but that initial 17 point hole was too much to overcome. I think Spencer County learned a lot from this game for the future. It was intense. Keep in mind Spencer County plays about 7 players. Four sophomores and a freshman in those six. Great learning game.

Shelby County's best player is Noah Gordon in my opinion. His name has to be mentioned if you are discussing Shelby County.

Great write up! Agree with most of the predictions. In my opinion Sam Conley is the third best player in the region. The way he is playing right now would lead me to believe that. Last week at the King of the Bluegrass Jamboree--Rick Bolus voted him the top college prospect that day after watching an entire day of games. I think he will really open some eyes in the next couple of weeks. Also, it is the Spencer County Bears. Not the Bearcats. Thanks again for the article.

That may be true but Spencer has guys that can get to the rim on anybody and they have shooters everywhere. They will be small. Every team has weaknesses to overcome. Lack of size is Spencer's issue. Team speed, defense, and shooting will be their strengths.

Actually I have on several occasions this summer. Like I said--best scorer in the region but his defense is not very good. Not trying to slam on the kid. Every player needs to improve in some area and his would be defense. He's only a sophomore so I would expect he will get better in that area.

He will be the best scorer. All round player I would say no. I can think of several that I would put above him because they play both sides of the floor. Obvious one is McKnight at Collins and Miles. Conley at Spencer County is a lock down defender and can score pretty easily. I give the nod to players that are great at both ends.

I give the nod to Collins because of guard play.

Conley is a sophomore and Miles is a senior. He didn't blow up til this summer playing for Matts Mustangs. I will venture to say Conley will be getting same looks and earlier.

I'll save your comments for discussion after Spencer and Shelby play. Take off those glasses friend. If a team needs motivation from a fan message board then they have motivation issues.:lol2: After reading your comments it's obvious you don't know much about the other teams in the region besides what Shelby County has and you really don't have an unbiased view of that. I'll discuss any other team in the region with you but we clearly will not agree with what Shelby County and Spencer County has at his point. Have a good day!

Yes there have been a few injuries over the past couple of years.

Like I said--I don't think fan message boards put pressure on anybody or provide bulletin board material. Yes Whitlock is the point guard and Conley plays all five spots. The biggest thing is that you will be surprised to find out that there are several more high quality players on that team than just those two. Senior combo guard Seawright had one heck of a summer on the AAU circuit. I believe senior Jackson Cole was 5th in the state in three pointers made. Sophomore Lucas Hornback should open some eyes. I don't have anything against Shelby County but realistically you have to have great guard play to be very good. Their guards do not match up to Collins and Spencer County. Actually Collins is loaded with quality guards. Sure, anybody can get lucky on a given night.

I don't think teams look at message boards of fans for bulletin board material. If so you better watch out for Anderson because you were bashing them all over this thread. All jokes aside if Conley and Whitlock can stay healthy Spencer County should do fine.

Who are some dark horses for the region this year? I predict South Oldham will be way better than some people are thinking. Does anybody know the name of the freshman that I saw playing for them over the summer? He was awesome! I thought he looked like their second best player! Very impressive.
