No excuses for the Bears. They came into this season knowing they had one of the toughest schedules in the region and at this point could care less about their record. They should be plenty battle tested for when it matters at the end of the year. Walton Verona on the road and then South Oldham Saturday. Gallatin the next week. I'm enjoying watching this young team battle and get better. Losing their first guy off the bench with a broken foot in the King of The Bluegrass has been tough but he will be back at the end. Straitshooter--You've always been Spencer County's biggest fan. Any chance to get a jab you take it. Be careful what you say they may surprise you at the end.

I think your reading into the Collins loss a little too much. Spencer County shot 5 out of 30 from the three point line in that game. They had come off of three weeks of playing two tournaments where they played three games in three days. Their starters are playing 99 % of the minutes. Their legs are dead which would show up in their shooting percentage. I would say the shooting will drastically improve now that they are back onto a regular schedule. No way they are the 9th best team in the region.

Quite simple--Spencer County went something like 4-20 from the three point line. Frigid shooting leads to blow outs. I think they are better attacking the basket. Rely too much on threes.

Before the season I was telling everybody that South Oldham would be better than people thought. They are good. The problem with them though is that they are a team that relies too much on one player. I think Simon Kenton falls into that boat also. If Morrison or Niece have a bad game or just an average game they have a good chance of losing. When your talking teams that are going to make a run and win the 8th region you need teams with several weapons. I think Collins checks all the boxes. I do feel that South Oldham and Simon Kenton can beat anyone on a given night but there are about 7 teams I could say that about. The 8th is pretty competitive this year!

After watching King of the Bluegrass and seeing them and Walton Verona play--it became clear to me. The big thing for Collins is that the Turner kid is now playing. Huge weapon for them. He had been out from what I heard and came back in KOB.

Collins is loaded and is the best team in the region on their home court. All that probably equals a long night for Spencer County. We shall see.

Spencer County wins the Championship in The King of the Smokies tournament black bracket which was the strongest bracket.

They would only play if they met in regional game. That would be a fun game to watch in my opinion.

The matchup I'm dying to see is Simon Kenton vs Spencer County. I want to see the top two sophomores in the region go at it. Niece vs Conley. Niece being the best scorer in the region vs Conley who is an elite athletic defender and also a good scorer. Hopefully that will happen down the road.

If you want to do comparison scores we could do that all day. Walton Verona got handled by Ballard. Spencer County gave them a game. It's all about matchups.

I don't know how Grant County is rated above Spencer. As far as Gallatin and South Oldham we will find out soon when they play. Also the loss to South Miami was in overtime.

They survived some pretty one-sided reffing. Spencer County will find out where they stand in the region within the next two weeks. Trips to Collins and Walton Verona. Gallatin County and South Oldham in there too. Schedule is brutal but should be better prepared for when it matters.

Spencer County advances to the championship game of The King of the Smokies tournament after beating Knoxville Central 65-55 yesterday and win today.

Hopefully they can overcome those three massive flaws and become a decent team. I'm trying to be nice but your basketball analysis is comical. Have a Merry Christmas.

Your the first person out of 50 that I talked to this week that had that assessment of Spencer County's play. Doesn't surprise me though. They impressed a lot of people. Also the teams they played are quite a bit better than you give credit.

Got to watch Collins and Walton Verona several games this week and the 8th region debate was put to rest for now. Collins is clearly the team to beat and is probably top 5 in the state.

Big difference between how Spencer County played this year compared to what Anderson did last year. Yes they went 0-3 but had a shot to win in every game. Losing to Ballard by 9, Madison Central by 3, and in overtime to South Miami. Talked to people all week from opposing fans and coaches and they were shocked that Spencer County could play like that. Spencer County had a very good showing and should reap the benefits of playing that level of competition moving forward. Senior Jacob Seawright made all tournament team with 31 pts vs Ballard, 24 vs Madison Central, and 26 against South Miami. Spencer County has alot of weapons.

Yeah, I saw that. Spencer County was up 15 at half and got to overtime and got outscored 7-0 in OT.

Spencer County did a really good job playing Cozart. He still got his points but did not dominate like I thought he would considering their tallest player is 6 ft 2. I think this game was good practice for when Spencer plays Walton Verona. Those two teams are very similar. Senior Jacob Seawright has been unbelievable in the first two games of the King of the Bluegrass. 31 against Ballard and close to 30 in this game. He's been as good as anyone in the tournament.

Great game! Foul trouble killed Spencer from doing something special. 8th region representing well tonight!
