Collins is loaded and is the best team in the region on their home court. All that probably equals a long night for Spencer County. We shall see.

Yeah, I like Collins, but not yet sold on them being the best in the 8th. Really it's way to early to determine the best team, as usual there are several teams that could win the 8th.

After watching King of the Bluegrass and seeing them and Walton Verona play--it became clear to me. The big thing for Collins is that the Turner kid is now playing. Huge weapon for them. He had been out from what I heard and came back in KOB.

I watched S. Oldham beat Male the other night, On that given night they would have beat any team in the 8th, shot the ball VERY well. I actually thought Spencer played better in the KOB than WV. Several of these teams are evenly matched on a given night. Would'nt go to sleep on SK either, just my thoughts.

Before the season I was telling everybody that South Oldham would be better than people thought. They are good. The problem with them though is that they are a team that relies too much on one player. I think Simon Kenton falls into that boat also. If Morrison or Niece have a bad game or just an average game they have a good chance of losing. When your talking teams that are going to make a run and win the 8th region you need teams with several weapons. I think Collins checks all the boxes. I do feel that South Oldham and Simon Kenton can beat anyone on a given night but there are about 7 teams I could say that about. The 8th is pretty competitive this year!

Final from Spencer. A lot closer than expected Nelson is 1-14 on the season.

In a thread a couple of weeks ago I believe @Jim Schue said that Nelson County had dealt with some early season injuries which led to such a poor start. Are they still dealing with this issue or are the Cardinals just having a bad year?

Two starters sat out v. Spencer Co. They started out the season with their top PG out for several weeks. Then their top returning scorer went out for several games — he was out again Wednesday. Their top big man has been out since before Christmas with an ankle injury.

It's a rash that's hitting the local boys' teams. Bardstown has had four different starters spend time sidelined with injuries. Thomas Nelson has had three guys out for various lengths of time.

Looking forward to watching the Spencer/Collins matchup. Lots of talented guards in the gym tonight. I’ll see if I can post updates, but phone service in the Collins gym isn’t usually very good.
