Are you putting an end to the rumors of Stallworth to Bath County with this statement?

I feel the best player in the 2017 class next season is here in the 4th, Tavin Lovan of Franklin Simpson. More than likely he will never be on the state wide stage though in front of everyone. I would like to see them compete at the KOB next season.

Looking on the KHSAA scoreboard, Bath County has won 40 games over the five years and lose 8 seniors off this seasons team. Casey County had won 41 games the five years prior to Stallworth taking over but return a lot of their team next year, some say one that will compete for a region even though they will have a tough district. I know Stallworth played in the state tournament in the mid 2000's at John Hardin so i assumed his next move would be to the Hardin County, Jefferson County area not back to the Morehead area where he went to college. Biggest shock to me of him moving is it seems that Casey County seems to be open to the transfers as they have had three over three years. Will Bath County be open to these? Perhaps but if transfers happen at one school then happen at your new school one would think a red flag would be drawn. If Bath County can hire Stallworth it would be a homerun hire, best hire of the off season. I seen Casey County play in Lexington during the 14-15 season at the Lexington Cath tournament and even though they only won one game I was very impressed with his team and how they played and have followed them since. He has made the regional tournament at Casey County in each of his three seasons including a regional final appearance this season. His teams always get better as the year goes along. If Bath County can get this hire they will win the off-season there is no doubt about that.

I don't think the issue is as much how many transfers they have brought in, the three in two years but more so the fact of how many they tried to get and missed on as well. There are numerous names from around the various regions that have been associated with transferring to Taylor County.

I was unaware of the situation, but regardless of the situation they used the rule to their advantage and did nothing illegal. The KHSAA rules doesn't say who a player can or can not live with if they have never played a second of varsity sports after the 9th grade. Coach Gatewood or any coach for that matter could move all incoming freshman in with them in their house and play them without any reprimands.

This is from Bylaw 6 of the handbook CHANGE IN SOLE CUSTODY- The KHSAA shall not recognize guardianship or similar arrangements made, for purposes of this bylaw. The period of ineligibility may be waived if it is shown that custody of the student has been taken from one or both parents and given to the other parent or a third person by a court of competent jurisdiction and under circumstances indicating: (1) the parent(s) are unfi t or (2) the court fi nds that the health and welfare of the student would be better served by the change in custody. The grant of this waiver shall only apply to the member school in the school district in which the residence of the custodial parent is located. Determinations of whether a student shall be granted a waiver pursuant to this exception shall be based on the circumstances existing as of the date of enrollment at the new school.

Sloan took advantage of the rule moving to Taylor County before entering 9th grade. He could have lived with girlfriend, best friend, friend of a friend it didn't matter he would have been eligible because KHSAA doesn't enforce rule until you have played 1 second of varsity sport after entering 9th grade. Once he entered 9th grade he couldn't just change his legal guardian and move somewhere else, but moving in with his parents is a different situation. You think the KHSAA is going to penalize a kid for moving back in with his parents? You don't know the circumstance why he left to move there to begin with, I dont either and maybe was nothing but you never know why coming to Taylor was a better situation for him at the time and why moving back won't be better now.

As I stated earlier, KHSAA doesn't honor legal guardianship it states it clearly in their by-laws. He was eligible at Taylor cause he moved there before high school. Why shouldn't he be eligible. It is obvious he will have a bonafide change of address.

They could manage it with a zero tolerance policy and no exception to the one year ineligibility period from date of enrollment like some states do, California for example. A personal friend daughter moved across country to California to play volleyball her senior season but moved a calendar year early because she new she was going to have to sit out a year so she could be eligible to play her last year. She sat out junior year and even lived with her mother.

If Coach Carr wants to coach he won't be out of work to long.

Kentucky doesn't have any elite post players in the 2017 class.

Mercado could end up being the top college prospect in the 2018 class along with Trevon Faulkner.

The legal guardian stuff isn't recognized by the KHSAA it states that clearly in the KHSAA handbook. Gatewood his legal guardian or not is all irrelevant because prior to entering 9th grade you can go to school anywhere regardless who you live with.

Gatewood was at Louisville Moore for one season before going to Taylor County and he was named 6th region coach of the year. Sloan was an 8th grader then at Moore middle school, not sure if he played varsity or not. I believe that Sloan has an older brother who did play for Gatewood at Moore. Sloan home school district is Louisville Moore, not sure how the Ballard situation will work. His parents may have moved into the Ballard district since he moved to Taylor County with Coach Gatewood.

Who else did they get?

Why would he go for just the remainder of the school year and you wouldn't think he would be eligible moving back to Taylor County. A person assumes that Gatewood was his guardian or something along those lines so if he moves back to Louisville to live with family, don't know if will be his parents or aunt, uncle etc not real aware of his family siutation. With that said, not sure how we would become eligible again at Taylor County unless Ballard never files paperwork with KHSAA.

I predict both, he brings in Elisha Justice and also sits on the bench. His son was in 8th grade this past season and he sat on the middle school bench.

Add Eminence and Grant County to the list, both are on the KHSAA

What about the archive version of the games. Will they be available to everyone and if so how soon after the game / tournament or do you have to be a member to watch those?

Won't be as bad as last year but will still be an easy double digit win.
