The fact of the matter is that the KHSAA sets the region matchups before the tourney and has no idea how it will stack up competition-wise. I don't know because I don't read the BGP basketball thread but is there this much complaining about the region matchups for the Sweet Sixteen. Fact of the matter is that the baseball postseason is a grind and, no matter what the draw, we should give credit to the teams, regardless of matchup opinions, who made it to the baseball Sweet Sixteen opening round and beyond. Yes. Some regions are tougher than others. Oh well. It takes a lot to make it to the state tourney opening round and beyond. On that note, GO PIONEERS!!! BRING IT HOME TO INDEPENDENCE!!!

Congrats to the young men for the recognition. Funny that a final four team in the state doesn't even have anyone get a HM. I CAN THINK OF AT LEAST 4 Simon Kenton Pioneers who should be somewhere on this list.

Completely agree with everything in this post except one thing. The SK outfielders make those plays the majority of the time. Taylor in left and Gangwish in right can track balls like nobody's business. Not to say that they weren't spectacular plays or saying that they were routine but those 2 can do it night in and night out. If the ball is hit in either one of their directions I will take odds that they make those types of plays more often than not. Great season to AC and a fabulous turnaround from last year. I was very impressed with their offense. Unfortunately not so much with their pitching and defense but I have no idea what they spent pitching-wise to get to the final game.

Those were 2 pretty evenly matched teams. SK was just better today. It will be interesting to see what Collins has.

What about kids who play summer baseball? That is up to them. I am only talking about school sanctioned sports where they wear the name of the school on their chest and use school facilities to train and practice and are coached by the same people who are on the sidelines for the games. We are nit picking for the sake of argument. Lay down the rules and leave it be and punish those who violate.

They can do it in July. Plus I am only talking about high school sanctioned sports. If a kid is playing AAU that is their choice so have at it.

My opinion to keep kids from getting burned out and give them a taste of summer. Make the dead period, other than those competing still in season like baseball, the last day of school until the Monday following 4th of July. No ifs ands or buts. DEAD PERIOD. No football lifting, practice, drills, nothing. Same for all HS sports. This would solve a lot of problems I think.

Gangwish is the only Sophomore on varsity but there may be some mobility with others in the near future.

Agreed that it was sloppy by both teams. The difference is that I think SK has the tools to correct their issues right now and are decently deep. The Eagles are vey young and have a longer road to hoe.

Game looked like it was gonna be a good one. SK 1 CC 0 top of 3 when it was stopped. CC player tripled in the 1st with 2 out but Bailey Martin escaped by getting the next out. Top of 2, Gangwish for SK roped a single to left with 2 out. Cooper walked. Faehr singled hard to center and Gangwish scored. Then the rains came.

Yes it is considering that SO beat SK last year badly and the majority of their core including their 2 D1 recruits are back this year.

My Hut team folded. I ended up getting drafted by Elmer Thornsburg's Cottage team. There were some COV studs on that team namely Benji Watts. He threw smoke back in the day.
