The Highlands - Campbell County JV game matched two undefeated teams and was a pretty good game, as JV games go, Highlands squeaking out a close one on that one as well. Highlands only has one senior in the program, so I think it bodes well for the Birds looking ahead ....

Some kind of moxie for a frosh in a tie game against NKY's top team... for all the hype that some youngsters have gotten the last few years in NKY, I think you gotta look at Niece and Draud as the most impactful to come along in a while .... and I was skeptical about both last year as 8th graders playing up ... skeptic no more here....

Great demeanor, even when he is getting killed by smaller less talented players. And he works really hard. He got a LOT of attention last summer playing against Nike teams, colleges that hadn't seen him before surprised at how strong he was against EYBL teams. He will get a lot of attention this summer.

Kunkel didn't even try to attack when he was on the floor. Ty Houston had a nice first quarter. He will definitely see more minutes as we enter the last half of the season...

Glad to see them get some recognition. I think they do a nice job as well. I wish every school had guys like Terry who volunteer because they're fans of the game.

I love Campbell County and every girl on that team has earned the right to play hard. They happen to be very good. But for the detractors on here who were obviously (1) not at the game and (2) do not have a very long memory, I feel inclined to point out that Jenkins is the same school that beat the same team in 2 straight games a couple of years ago by scores of 86-7 and 111-21, with their leading scorer tallying 41 and 52 points in those 2 games. I am not suggesting Jenkins "earned" a beatdown or is getting paid back by any means ... sometimes these lopsided things just happen. I know there were threads about those games a couple of years ago - back to back games against the same opponent where the girl chasing the all time scoring title scores almost 100 points looks pretty bad after all - but I would have hoped some of the Jenkins/Creech defenders then would stand up now and say "sometimes these things just happen and girls are really good and bad scores can't be avoided" ... because I am quite sure that was said a couple of years ago defending Jenkins...

Wondering about the details of this one... Difficult to imagine HC having this much trouble scoring.... And I can't think of any team ever that had a 66 point differential in point production from one game to the next ....

I think I agree, haven't seen Draud play this year, but have seen his stats. Pretty similar looking games from what I have seen.

Really kind of an unavoidable result. Holy Cross is very good, and very deep, and Beechwood is barely able to field a team. Last year, HC beat Beechwood by 30+ I think and Beechwood had a D1 player and another senior who went on to play college basketball so the loss of those two, along with the fact that HC has a load of returning talent, were the reasons this score wound up the way it did. No malevolence or unsportsmanlike behavior here.

Surprised that I haven't seen any mention of Highlands MS teams. Haven't they won a couple of championships the last couple of years?

One more thing I forgot ... Like all HHS fans I remember that time in the 80s when an HHS baller went for more than 67 points in a game ..... What a player he was! And he hailed from Kenton County ....

Okay, I will play. I don't know what to expect of HHS this year. They have not been able to take down the prominent Catholic school in their district for a few years now, and just because they had great success in the 70s and 80s and can claim a Mr Basketball alum doesn't guarantee ongoing success. Still with Coach Listerman at the helm, HHS fans start the season with renewed hope for a comeback season. How's that?
