katbird Posted December 9, 2017 Posted December 9, 2017 I think the refs thought we were there to watch them.. Hope those guys don't quit their day jobs anytime soon.. It was extremely painful to watch!!
Mustang Posted December 9, 2017 Posted December 9, 2017 I think the refs thought we were there to watch them.. Hope those guys don't quit their day jobs anytime soon.. It was extremely painful to watch!! They were three Bluegrass officials, up from Lexington, that were really unfair to the players and the fans. 54 personal fouls whistled and 60 free-throws shot. If Dr. Naismith would have witnessed this one, he wouldn't have invented the game. To Beechwood's credit they overcame a 10 point Brossart advantage (47-37) with 1:56 remaining in the third quarter, cutting the margin to one at 50-49 at the end of the period. Brossart fell behind by five at 61-56 and then fought back to make it a 62-61 deficit on an Ethan Eilerman "3" with 2:25 to go in the game. Shilling immediately answered with a "3" of his own, and when Brossart turned the ball over and the Tigers converted it was lights out for the Mustangs.

Qryche11 Posted December 9, 2017 Posted December 9, 2017 Sounds like a better game than the score indicates. 54 personal fouls is pathetic.

footstomp Posted December 9, 2017 Posted December 9, 2017 Sounds like a better game than the score indicates. 54 personal fouls is pathetic. I don’t agree with every foul called, but 54 fouls called was not because of inferior officiating. Mustang was right about Dr Naismith because he would not recognize the street ball game I witnessed last night. There was too much reaching, grabbing, pushing, pulling, tripping, elbowing, slapping, and complaining. As a player it’s up to you to figure out what you can get away with and how physical you are going to be allowed to play. Neither team could figure that out last night.
camelman Posted December 9, 2017 Posted December 9, 2017 Sounds like a better game than the score indicates. 54 personal fouls is pathetic. Even for a grade school game it would be too many.
mcpapa Posted December 9, 2017 Posted December 9, 2017 Even for a grade school game it would be too many. To be fair, a grade school game is like six minutes long or something.
TAC Posted December 9, 2017 Posted December 9, 2017 I think the refs thought we were there to watch them.. Hope those guys don't quit their day jobs anytime soon.. It was extremely painful to watch!! Of the 54 fouls I think the dude who looked like ‘John Coffey” must have called 45 of them. Including 2 double fouls. Very consistent, but personally it was just too much. As a buddy said after the game. I like this Beechwood team, all of them are long, athletic and can shoot. They might sneak up on a couple of teams this year. Very well coached I might add. Brossart had control of the game until the final 2 minutes of Q3 when they fell apart. A quick run by the Tigers to close out the quarter gave them the momentum in Q4. Thankfully the refs kept me there long enough to miss the crafting party back at the house.
ColonelPops Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 Glad to see Ethan Eilerman with a nice game.
