I really think this one sets up well for the Cats! The emergence of The Hawk has completely changed the complexion of this team. UK has proven that they have improved on the defensive end. Ball will get his share of Hawkins, and double teams.
UCLA turned the ball over 18 times in the first meeting, that's problematic for the Bruins. Expect Cal to trap intermittently both 3/4 court and in the 1/2 court. Ball is a great ball handler and decision maker, let's find out about the others.
The other glaring stat from the first game is UK got up 14 more shots from the field and attempted 6 more free throws than the Bruins.
Alford has used zone defenses regularly during post season play, which tells me that there will be open looks from behind the arc.
Don't expect a track meet, UCLA is a great up-tempo team. Cal has a history of getting stingy with possessions in big games.
I think the Cats slow this one down, bring some physicality and move on to face the Heels.
Or the other possibility is everyone freaks out and it turns into an NBA all star game!
