The Indians keep their win streak going as they take down a solid 10-2 Barren County team. The Indians offense was too much tonight as Tylin George had a 30 point triple double to lead the Indians, followed by Dawson Gilberts 23 points, and Landon Blakeys 17. Adair County will be back in action Monday in the 2A sectional first round at Russell County.

The district rivalry between these two lived up to the hype tonight as it was down to the wire. Taylor County was up by as many as 10 early but Adair clawed back to take the lead in the 4th. Tyler George was fouled on a 3 with .5 seconds left and the game tied and would make free throws to seal it for Adair. George led the Indians with 31, followed by Dawson Gilberts 23 and Landon Blakeys 19. Cooper Stone led Taylor County with 28.

Uthaymin Laws for Green County who came from Pennsylvania this season played his first game for them last night as he was also made eligible.

Adair was up 13 through 3 quarters without Gilbert. Did not play starters in 4th and let younger ones play. George and Blakey combined for 45 points.

You can play in scrimmages and be ineligible as well as practice until cleared. Just not official games that count without it being a forfeit.

Some major announcements happened yesterday in the 5th Region. 2026 Kai Wade a 6'0 PG from NC has enrolled at Green County. He averaged 16 pts and 7 assists in NC last season. 2026 Tylin George a 6'3 guard has enrolled at Adair County. George was the states 2nd leading scorer last year at 31 ppg for University Heights.

Could this be a Varsity only thing? It is hard enough to get just a normal clock keeper for freshman/jv games, also majority of those kids aren't ready for the speed of a shot clock at their skill levels.

Chances of upsets will now go down, and more skilled and talented teams should win more often than not.

It will be homecoming and the opening of the new turf field for Adair.

District matchup for these two on Friday night as Glasgow rolls in at 4-0 and Adair County is now 1-3 after a double overtime loss last week. This will be homecoming for the Indians and the opening of their new turf field so that may be an added motivation as it should be a large crowd Friday night. Adair has found some success running the football the last 2 weeks but they will need to slow down Glasgows run game to have a chance.

Both teams will be coming into this game with 1-2 records after victories last week. McCreary took down Clinton County 34-20, while Adair exploded against Casey County 55-14 and rushed for over 400 yards. For Adair the big key will be if they can keep Sophomore RB Callum Darnell going as he rushed for over 200 yards last week. Look for this to be a close and competitive game though in Stearns on Friday night.

What started really bad for Adair ended very well. Their starting QB went down with a knee injury on the first drive of the game and they would fall behind 14-6. Then a lightning delay happened. After that it was all Adair as they scored TDS on 8 straight possessions. The Indians combined for 430 rush yards led by sophomore Callum Darnell’s 202 yards. This was the first ever head coaching win for new Adair HC Brian Cross.

It has been a tough 0-2 start for both of these teams but one will get their first win on Friday night. Adair took a tough 8-7 loss last week to Metcalfe County while Casey County lost 48-0 to Bourbon County. Scoring has been an issue for both teams so far, as they have only combined for 29 points total in two games.

Rosters carry over on KHSAA from year to year and are not changed until updated by the school.

The girls hire will likely be announced near end of this week. The boys hire will not be announced this week they are going to give it at least a few days to see what interest they get in the position. If Breeze comes back and coaches this year, it will be filling in as an interim for the season as at this time he doesn’t plan to take the position back full time.

Indians had a tough start to the Brian Cross era last week with a 32-9 loss to rival Russell County. The youth and inexperience showed as Russell won the trenches. Metcalfe County took a 27-0 loss to Taylor County so it was a tough loss for them as well. Both teams will be battling for that first win and this game will once again be played at Lindsey Wilson University.

Rivalry game as always between these two to start the season and it will be played at Lindsey Wilson University's field as Adair County is getting a new turf renovation. Adair won this battle in a tight one last year and are coming off a 17-6 record the past two seasons under Steve Stonebraker who has departed for Danville. Adair is now led by Stonebrakers long time DC Brian Cross and will have to replace around 20 seniors from last year so it is very much a youth movement for the Indians. Russell County had a solid 5 win season in Steven French's first year last season and will look to build off of that as well, though they also were hit a lot by graduation.
