  1. Like I said, sounded more like kids talking and don't put much stock in it myself. That is why I was reluctant to name him. But by doing so, it puts rumor to rest too. Chance, we'll just wait and see, that source is very close to the situation.
  2. Eastern to Fern Creek is Chance Moore The other one is more questionable I would think. Is Jamil Wilson Ballard to Fern Creek. Like I said, this one comes from the kids my son works out with that go to those schools. Don't know if he is thinking about leaving or just maybe reacted to the Sloan news and made some statements. I guess with we shall find out if there is any truth or not pretty soon. As far as the students transferring, I don't really have a problem with it. I think some flags can be raised if I was recruiting at the next level and I saw a kid move around looking to play with better players or to get noticed more by just moving. Truth is, there are legitimate reasons for moving schools (bad coaching(not, don't like the coach), bad academics, level of competition, not challenged in practice and improving) but outside of those excuses I sort of feel the same way about it as I do Pro players getting drafted and not playing for the team that drafts them. If you are as good as you say you are, or have been told you are, then do the work and make the team you are on better. Stop looking for "better" players to play with and "greener" pastures and prove how good you really are by making your team better and other players better As the old saying goes, "a rising tide lifts all boats", great players make teams better and other players better........not search out the best place to play and people to play with (unfortunately a horrible trait handed down from the recent NBA years). Most of the kids we are talking about aren't moving because they are playing with kids that can't play. My feeling is, once searching, always searching and never content. That's not good for any HS or college programs and usually never works out for those that are consistently searching for the "better" place. Just my thoughts:idunno:
  3. FIGURED IT OUT:ylsuper: Should be "GO" in title:ohbrother: Don't know how to change it:isurrender:
  4. Looks like the transfer merry-go-round is getting cranked up in the Louisville area. Have heard about a move from Eastern to Fern Creek (pretty reliable source) and a move from Ballard to Fern Creek. The first one I think happens, the other is talk among kids my son works out with who go to both schools. Both would be seniors next year. I am sure more are lurking in the wings, its always interesting over the summer.
  5. I agree, if Mathis played anywhere else he would be in the mix, and still might be although I doubt it. His game is similar to Sloan I think, although maybe not as quick or explosive. Great basketball IQ and can flat out shoot from deep.
  6. He defiantly valued playing for the Cards over playing a lot of minutes at a lower level it looks like but with that said, I agree that he can fill a roll for the Cards. He isn't the quickest of kids, but I can guarantee you he will work his tail off and can defiantly fill a shooting niche roll. I hope it works out well for him, I have enjoyed getting to see him play over the last 4 years.
  7. It should be interesting to see how they handle the coming years transfers. I heard last night, there are a couple of other Louisville kids on the move next year, they both are top tier players. At this point just kids talking about what they have heard, but kids pretty close to the situation. I guess we'll just have to see if the merry-go-round continues to spin.
  8. My son playing - any HS game College - Any level NBA AAU I still spend about 4 days a week in a gym with my son working out after the season, and that's really not as much time as I would like to spend lol. My wife often jokes, (but I think she is serious), we should have just built a metal gym building and boxed off 4 rooms to sleep in instead of getting a house. I am definitely a gym rat, although an aged one, and love everything about the game.
  9. :ohbrother: one point!!! Always next year:ylsuper: Congrats maysvilleky:thumb:
  10. of all the Louisville schools it doesn't surprise me on the crowd size. Don't really bring them in at home either unfortunately. Great program non the less, hopefully that will change.
  11. This should be a great game. I picked both teams to be in the finals and Dunbar to win it, and I don't see any reason to change my pick. On the court, we have almost mirror images of each others style. They both are long, athletic, good on the defensive end, explosive to the basket, and can shoot the 3 when it is needed. I'll give the edge on the inside to Dunbar, and I think that is where they win the game. I think they will control the boards on both ends, and offensive put backs and second shots wins them the game. I expect Doss to continue to do what Doss does, play fast, scrappy and be a great coached team. (Coach Williams is going to be a very good one). But Dunbar has proven all year long they play a high caliber of basketball and with Williams rounding back into form, I look for them to continue doing so in this game. As a 6th region guy Doss winning would be great, but my basketball brain says Dunbar. Dunbar 64 Doss 58
  12. As a 6th region parent I love it. Coach Williams has done a great job, especially after all the drama last season. He is not a coach that all kids can play for, but if they buy in, its proven he can lead them to great things. He has a very bright future. Great win for him and the young man of Doss.
  13. Weyer is the real deal and great fun to watch, as has been the NCC team this tournament. I am still waiting for Williams to show up for Dunbar and I am thinking it has to be soon. I don't know that Weyer can be stopped, but I think that the speed and explosiveness for Dunbar is going to be a bigger problem for NCC. Should be a great game, but I think Dunbar will do what they have been doing all year long, beat really good teams. Dunbar 68 NCC 59
  14. Taylor is going to be Taylor, but Doss will do what Doss does. They will press and swarm defensively and make it tough to get the looks and openings that SL has been getting last couple of games. Their length and quickness will be the difference. Doss 62 SL 57
  15. Size will be an issue for South Oldham I think, but they split with Owen County during the season and, if memory serves me right, they have a pretty good big man. As it always does with South Oldham......so goes the three, so goes the game. I thought that the larger arena was going to give them more trouble then it seemed to with there shooting. It didn't seem to bother them too much, so I will go with South Oldham 62-59
  16. Dunbar 62 BG 57 Williams didn't have a good game yesterday, don't think it will happen again. Bowling Green is a nice team, but Dunbar I think has proven all year that they can play with and beat the best in the state and I look for them to go it again here.
  17. Doss will bring the pressure you can bet, and it will be non stop will be my guess. They go about 7-8 deep and like to cause chaos. I also think they are a better outside shooting team then they are given credit for, although I think Rupp has messed with all of the teams and there shooting. South Laurel is really a nice team, we will see how they handle pressure tomorrow.
  18. Is a shame that they are matched first round. I think Dunbar wins because of their defense. Should be a good one.
  19. Two of the few teams I haven't seen play this year. I don't think they will, but I have to root for the small school to win. I have no idea if it will happen just love seeing the stories being written this time of year.
  20. Congratulations! I have seen him play a couple times and he was a dominate HS ball player. I also think he will do very well at the next level. People have to understand that playing at the next level is more about fit then going high D1. Carson will do VERY well at NKU and have a great career there, not because he couldn't play at the higher D1 school, but because the fit for him is a great one (see Kentucky kid,Dwayne Sutton UNCA, who tore it up his first year). I wish him the best of luck in the continuation of his journey.
  21. Opening Round 1 Murray 1 Trinity 1 Dunbar 1 Bowling Green 1 Doss 1 Taylor County 1 Christian County 1 South Oldham 1 Quarter-finals 2 Trinity 2 Dunbar 2 Doss 2 South Oldham Semi-finals 3 Dunbar 3 Doss 2016 Sweet 16 State Champion 5 pts Dunbar Tiebreaker 129
  22. just a brief over view for those not familiar. The reason that I think they are so different then other camps, is they teach the game. They don't throw the ball on the court and say play, and they don't just do skill work. They watch film and break it down, they talk situational basketball, and spend about 2-3 hours a day in the class room listening to teaching and taking notes. Like I said, I think they do the best job, I have seen (and I have helped and been to a lot), of teaching the game outside of the normal skills and drills. They are all over the country and at different times, we went to the one at Anderson College, nice place and great facilities. Again, I would say, if your kid is serious about honing their game it is a great camp.....just get ready to loosen the wallet:lol2:
