Heard that Somerset was playing loose and relaxed. Great to hear! Looking forward to seeing how their season goes. I have a tremendous amount of respect for coach Cothron.

I agree with SHS, southwest will miss gaskins a lot! Issacs too, he brought a toughness to that team! And unless you're just flat out anti-Casey County, you have to think that as of now they have the best team in the 47th. They return everyone, and I hear they will be starting 5'10, 6'2, 6'4, 6'5, and 6'6.

Powells will be juniors, coldiron a senior. Honestly all Pc is getting is one proven player (so far) in Landon Powell, solid no doubt, but not enough to catapult them into the top 3. People forget that they lost both Shaun Ross and Blake Burton, and replacing them will be tough. Casey County is still my favorite for 47th district.

I'm so pumped for this year in the 12th. I feel like it's gonna be a dog fight trying to make it to rupp! I think arguments for #1 team in the region can be made for both Mercer and Wayne, simply based on the 'experience' factor. I think teams like Southwestern and Casey County will both pose legit threats come tourney time, as well as Pulaski, if what KyKing has said comes true. West Jessamine will always be a well coached team as long as coach Kelly is there, so wouldn't surprise me to see them in the mix either. Really looking forward to seeing Colton Elkins role at Boyle, but I feel like Danville and Garrard have the advantage in the 45th, as of now. Rockcastle County will have, in my opinion, the best overall big in the 12th this year in Lucas Gentry. As far as Lincoln, Somerset, and East Jessamine, only time will tell. I'm hyped!!!

Is Jake Smith from Casey not playing with them this year? He did last year.

Boyle's roster is built for Rupp! Win, lose, or draw Boyle has represented us here in the 12th well! That said, can someone give me a call when the Colton Elkins poster is out for sale? Made my night!!

The power of the dunk! Say what you want, but Hagen Tyler won this game with that steal and 2 handed jam! Changed the momentum completely!

I agree that the experience factor will play a big part in this game, as well as coaching, as I believe Ruthsatz and staff are one of the best at the tourney. Cov Cath by 6.

I have to go with Hopkinsville on this one strictly because they beat Henderson County, and if you can get by Henderson, you can get by anyone. That said, Taylor County has a great team! Wouldnt surprise me at all to see them advance, but I'll stick with hop-town. Should be one of the better first round games of the tournament I would think.

Boyle County will take this one. They are clicking on all cylinders right now! Why anyone is basing this game from another game that happened in December, is beyond me.

The only battling going on in the 47th next year will be for district runner-up between Pulaski, Somerset, and Rockcastle, because personally i think Casey County owns that district next season. DJ white will be an even stronger force down in the post on offense and defense, while Jacob Smith will be one of the better players in the region. Throw in another flashy guard in Collin Miller and you have one heck of a big 3 down in Liberty, who I could very well see contending for the 12th region crown next season. Not saying Pulaski can't string something together come next year, but eyeing their roster 'as it is now', I just don't see it happening. I heavily credit Shaun Ross and Blake Burton for their success this season. Mighty fine players!

Pulaski will struggle, they lose their leading scorer in Shaun Ross, best defender and a 10 ppg scorer in Blake Burton, and a Good shot blocker/Rim protector in Cameron Ellington. Rockcastle loses a great point guard in Sam Pensol. And Lincoln basically starts from scratch.

Spencer McKinney at 8 a game is somewhat surprising, but good for him! Really like the way he plays!

I'm sticking with Wayne County as my #1 for now. Lincoln took Mercer to the woodshed the other night, and that has just left a bad taste in my mouth. Danville loses Cody Woolridge, Jaylen Hendren, Trevin Washington, and Trent Johnson. They have a few pieces, but as far as being able to play with anyone in the region, I personally do not see that happening. Garrard has their best chance at success this year with Slade Crutchfield and Nick McCollum becoming seniors, and I can see them contending with Danville and Boyle for the 45th district crown, only time will tell. I sure hope the Golden Lions can make an improvement, 6 wins this year all coming from below .500 teams is a rough way to go.

Wasn't sold on Mercer County the other night, I mean they scored 34 points against a mild Lincoln Defense for peat sake, while also showing virtually no sign of life from the perimeter. Simply put, i feel like Mercer's size will hinder them next season if it comes down to a dual between them and wayne. Timmy Taylor chewed up their defense the other night. Trey Blevins would do the same, with an even greater 3pt shooting threat, and that could be dangerous against Mercer. Southwestern without a 15 ppg center next year will not beat Wayne County. I like their young guard talent, but they can't hold a candle right now to 2 guys who are consistently good, and have 2 regional championships to their name. I am interested to see what Garrard County will have in store for us next season!

Big Congrats to Boyle County on the huge region win, very well deserved! Going into this year's regional tournament i had it narrowed to Lincoln, Boyle, and Wayne so it wasn't a surprise to see a rematch of the always heated, always intense power-houses of the 45th district! So much can be said about Boyle County and Lincoln County, their players, and the fantastic seasons they have had, but I'm gonna leave that to you 45th gurus while I look toward the future. It's never to early to set the stage for the 2015-2016 while this year's 12th region season is still fresh in our minds! Top 5 12th region basketball! 1. Wayne County- Wayne is losing a key piece that has been in their puzzle for the past 4 years in Peyton Woods, make no mistake however, as they will still have 2 studs in Trey Blevins and Corey Stearns. Im giving them my pre-pre-pre-season number 1 simply because they've been there, they've done that, and they seem to always find a way to win. Will be interesting to see just exactly how Coach Rodney Woods fills in the 20+ppg gap left by his son, but I feel as though he'll make it happen. 2. Mercer County- I felt like the Titans made a great impression against Southwestern in the tournament, as well as their season in general, but left a little to be desired when playing Lincoln in the semi-finals. Coach Josh Cook seems to know how to run a team, and the roster will be loaded with seniors next year, including one of my favorite players in the 12th, Will Hager. Malik Dow and Treyvon Faulkner, are also sure to be valuable assets for next seasons success. 3. Southwestern- Southwestern's season was somewhat of an enigma to me, with them beating teams like Knott County Central, Hopkinsville, and Wayne County. Just when you thought they had established themselves as a 12th region contender, they'd change your mind. Overall they had a exceptional season, however i never felt like they were in a position to beat someone like Boyle or Lincoln, when the time came. They lose, in my opinion, the best scoring big man in the region in Dylan Gaskins, as well as a tough senior guard in Adam Isaacs. If the Warriors from Southwestern want a legitimate chance at the title next year, Peyton Gover, Steven Fitzgerald, and Danny Butt will have to make it happen. Giving them 3rd on the pre-pre-pre-season rankings by a splitting hair over Casey County. 4. Casey County- Walked away a bit stunned with what the Rebels of Casey County managed to do against Lincoln County the other night, and if you would have told me it was gonna be a 2 point game in the 4th quarter, i would have called you crazy! I really feel like this time next year coach Maze Stallworth will have claimed a 47th district championship, as well as have a great chance at making big noise in the Regional Tournament. Casey County loses a few role players, but overall keeps their core in DJ White, Jacob Smith, and Collin Miller. 5. Boyle County/Danville/West Jessamine- This 5th spot was particularly hard to narrow down, but I figure when in doubt, go with the champs. Even though they are losing 2 of the best players in the region, and numerous role players, they are keeping my favorite 12th region big man in Colton Elkins. Colton Elkins is a stud on the defensive end, and creates a tough situation for players looking to drive and score. If Coach Steve Adams can surround him with a balanced offense, and make teams play at their pace, look for Boyle to emerge as the 45th district champs once again. This spot is up for debate though, as I can also see arguments related to Danville or West Jessamine being in the talk as well. Really enjoy Ed McKinney's intense coaching style, not to mention the Admirals return some quality talent. West Jessamine's coach Damon Kelly, also knows what it takes to get his boys to play at a high level, and the Colts return some younger talent of their own.

Guards Jake Smith and Collin Miller from Casey County. Best sophomore combo in the 12th region, possibly state. Really the only ones I've got to watch so far this year. Peyton Gover from Southwestern. Landon Powell from Somerset. Noah Young from Lincoln County. Lucas Gentry from Rockcastle County. Lots of young talent coming up through the 12th!

That's like saying until Wayne County beats a top 4 team in the region, they aren't a top 4 team in the region? To each his own.

Props to Mercer County, they showed a lot of intensity, and proved that they could flat out play! Will Hagar was dominant in this one, and Trevon Faulkner is a definite player! Mercer Impressed me tonight, and I will even go as far as saying by that performance I'd put them at #3 in the 12th region. In the predictions earlier i said that this game would be a battle for #5, and if Casey County would have played anything like they did against Marion County, I truly believe it would have been. Casey is a young team full of potential, and tonight just wasn't their night, similar to the Southwestern mauling of Perry County Central earlier, who seen that coming? Game's a game, and I give credit where credit is due.
