Not that it is a bad thing, there are several younger players who are a little stuck in some of the shadows. They are eager when they get out on the floor. This, I think, adds depth to the roster that they have not had in the past. At the same time, those younger players have more confidence playing now than they did earlier in the year. Stowers and staff have done a better job with that this year. -

Jones was out of the starting line up again. The rotation and subbing seemed to be off tonight. Shooting seemed cold tonight except for Meier underneath. 3 point shots were probably less than 50 percent. Just not falling. Stamper out of game early with an injury. Harmeyer possibly injured. Did not play hardly any of 2nd half, could not get going and tearing up at times on bench. Jones didn't see a lot of action 2nd half as well. -
Simon Kenton 78 Williamstown 37

Congrats to Madi Meier and Morgan Stamper both had double doubles during the Williamstown game. Meier with 14 pts and Stamper with 20 pts off the bench to lead SK scorers. -

Just curious though if these are coach picked or based on stats from the tournament? -
Butler 66 Simon Kenton 62

Much better team effort today on the stage. More shooting opportunities happened as a result of better ball movement. Hope Meier to ok as I saw she didn't start today. -

Good win for Butler. Simon kenton, imo, has taken a couple of steps backwards over the last couple of games in the tourney both in play and coaching . Players were distraught after the win and visibly upset after loss on Thurs. Coaches going in a couple of different directions. Gone were the games with more balanced scoring and passing the ball and playing as a unified team. They need that back if they are going to be successful at the end of the season. -
Simon Kenton 71 Walton Verona 42
Ball_89 replied to UK#1fanisback's topic in KY Girls Basketball (High School)
I do hope that #20 Strunk for Walton Verona recovers from her fall tonight. Simon Kenton played a strong defensive game from the start. Quite a few deflections and steals during the game from SK. This year's SK team is quick, has very good ball movement during the game and more balanced scoring from starters and importantly from the bench. SK had three players scoring double digits: Ally Niece -14, Kendyl Gilliam -13, and Morgan Stamper -10. S/O to Morgan Stamper who also had 20 points in the JV game, if i heard the announcer correctly. -
Simon Kenton 70 Newport Central Catholic 30

Simon played all 10 girls they had last night subbing quite often. Niece, I believe was one of the first players subbed out in the game. -

Great game tonight. Thought SK was going to pull out a win. Tough one for the Pioneers to have both Buckner and Stamper out with injuries. -

Lead all scorers with 15 off the bench if the scoreboard was correct! -
This is very true, I believe, this season. The scoring this season is more even with everyone getting some good minutes.
-
There are several that could comfortably fill in the starting line up. Each bring a little something different. Harney Jones Stamper Buckner (injured)
-
I believe a couple of 7th grade kids from Twenhofel and Summit View moved up to the freshman level as well for Simon Kenton.

Cats Pause 8th Region Player Rankings
Ball_89 replied to Dixiefan1's topic in KY Girls Basketball (High School)
SK is returning all of its starters and has a couple of strong freshman coming back this year. Maggie Jones and Morgan Stamper had strong performances last year as 8th graders on the Varsity squad. Combined with the SK players previously mentioned, SK should have another strong showing this year if they can stay healthy. Hopefully with a Regional title. -
Simon Kenton Freshmen - Winning Season
Ball_89 replied to Ball_89's topic in KY Girls Basketball (High School)
The 7th grade starters on the freshmen team have been, I believe, the leading scorers for the team all season. They both have bright futures ahead! -
Congratulations to the Simon Kenton Freshmen girls on finishing a great season last night. The team ended up with a perfect regular season record of 20-0, with an overall record of 20-1.
-
Quite possible. There seems to a lot of movement of players in the 7th thru 9th grades. With all of the team tryouts that are happening in the next month, it will be interesting to see where everyone falls into new teams in the AAU season. Best of luck to everyone.

I believe she plays with Shining Stars as well.
