  1. *With rare exceptions, you must play club volleyball to be recruited. You want to play for the highest level club, the highest profile club, that you can. Even if that means sitting on the bench. Even if that means being on the 2nd or 3rd team. It may sound backwards, but you are better off being on the bench on the first team at the highest club, or starting on the 2nd team at the highest club vs starting for the 1st team for a medium or lower level club. How do you tell the difference? Look at who's playing in the Open division, look at who's playing in National Qualifiers where literally hundreds of coaches will see you, look at the club's track record on recruiting. Why? Because the coaching at a higher club is better and the players around your daughter at a higher club will be better, which will in turn make her better. It's not about playing time, it's about getting better. It's also not all about winning, but playing a tough schedule against national competition to make you better. Stick with that plan and the college looks will come, even with limited playing time.
  2. Just another reason I don't shop at WalMart. But seriously Moron brothers, want to impress me? Ride your kiddie bike through a Harley-Davidson store and videotape that..I can't wait to see what happens to you then.
  3. Lots of choices...which one is the best, not necessarily the cheapest. Who do you trust?
  4. You are missing the point, the game WAS decided on the field. This was not a missed call. The game had ended. It was over. Then officials wrongly tacked on another play. This was not a typical judgment call scenario.
  5. Maybe read the specifics of this case before you comment. This was not a judgment call situation. The game had finished.
  6. Judge rejects Fenwick's motion, case dismissed. The game results stand. In my opinion, just a terrible decision. The judge and the IHSA did not do the right thing.
  7. This should have never happened. It's not a judgment call and it doesn't set-off a bunch of "what-if" dominoes. Purely procedural error. The game was over, completed. This isn't a life lesson, tough loss, bad call situation. If the winning school can't do the right thing, then someone needs to step in and do it.
  8. Complicated, but short story is...game was over, clock at zeros, Fenwick has won the game, when officials wrongly gave Plainfield North one more untimed down. Plainfield North kicked a FG to tie game and send to OT where they won. It's important to note this was not a judgement call or a PI penalty or anything like that. There's no domino effect of "what if's", the game was over and the officials messed up big time. It's front page news in Chicago. Being decided in court right now. Sports Columnists - Chicago Tribune
  9. That may have been in the past, but don't think it's like that anymore. That said, I've never heard of anyone leaving club volleyball to focus on school basketball. But there are lots of examples of good to great school basketball players leaving for club volleyball - usually in the 8th or 9th grade. Why would you want the KHSAA involved in private club sports?
  10. 1. It's notable because from 2007-2014, Highlands' average margin of loss was 6.25 - that's over 8 seasons. 3 of those seasons it was 0. 2. It's a streak because for the last 2 years it's been 25.6 ('15) and 22('16)
  11. Highlands' average margin of loss this season was more than 3 TD's.
  12. Wouldn't $$ be the same barrier for everyone? You have to prioritize your budget. and most clubs offer some sort of financial relief on the club dues if it's needed.
  13. Greenwood made it a few years ago, **but they did not have to defeat one of the Big Four to get there** which is really the standard to be held to. They and HC are the only 2 Public Schools to ever make it. And yes, there have been long discussions on here about private schools having an advantage, that all their girls play club volleyball, etc. My answer has always been there's nothing stopping any girl anywhere from playing club volleyball, regardless of what HS they attend. It makes a huge difference, and you won't be successful at the State wide level without it. It also has many other benefits, college scholarships being one.
  14. Isn't it possible the answer is neither and the historic run is over because HHS no longer has the market cornered on good talent and good coaching staff?
  15. Since you are fascinated with my old posts (and they are pretty great, so I can't say I blame you) then why not look up my very, very first post on HHS football this year - where I asked if a losing season isn't the new norm for HHS, that maybe other NKY schools have caught up, that how does anyone really know the "Cavalry is coming"? Just by asking those questions, I'm labeled as a hater? Those are reasonable questions. True. But one was quick to pounce when I asked if a 3-7 team has an aura. Doss isn't playing 100 years of tradition tomorrow. They're playing a 3-7 team.
  16. I wasn't. I was posting about your posts, but I should have known you wouldn't bother to read it and would just go back to your same scripted answer.
  17. I asked a valid question. Your self-induced Highlands anxious paranoia labeled me a hater. Let me see if I have this straight...Highlands defenders have blasted those outside the program for posting about Highlands every week during a down year - insiders openly wondering in previous weeks why so much attention is being paid to a 1 win team, and why isn't everyone posting about other area 1 win teams. The gist of those posts by defenders/insiders was Highlands was just another team, why so much attention, nothing to see here. So if Highlands is just another 3-7 team, as all of the defender/insider posts have insisted all season, then there shouldn't be an aura or 100 years of tradition to worry about, right? They're just another 3-7 team.
  18. A 3-7 team has an aura? What does a 3-7 aura look like?
  19. I agree, you will not get a better match-up at State than tonight. and it's on the KHSAA to fix it. Re-draw the Region so they can both get in. Take the Region Champ and runner up to State. or have your 16 Region champs but add 6 at-large bids. Ryle, St. Henry, NDA, and Cooper could all easily defeat the majority of the other Region winners. It's a yearly travesty that the loser of this Region final doesn't go to State. The 3 Louisville schools are proven winners year in and year out - that only 2 of them make it to State is a waste.
  20. I don't have stats, but pretty sure Smith had a rough night. Ruppel looked like Cooper's most dangerous player vs NDA.
  21. I think we have some list confusion going on here... That Region 10 list looks to be a coaches association list from the 10th Region for the regular season. The 10th Region All-Tournament team will be a different list. And the KVCA Region 10 Player and Coach of the Year recognized at the KHSAA State Tournament is likely Faulkner and Franxman, but it's not official until the KVCA releases it. and yes, Region 9 will select an All-tournament Team on Thursday after the Championship game. But just like Region 10, the All-Tourney Team is a different selection from the 1st, 2nd, and HM 9th Region team, which comes out later I believe.
