Ethics of an opposing coach watching your practice
I am just a parent, not part of the football staff..... but apparently there is some history I am not aware of.

Ethics of an opposing coach watching your practice
Let me correct 1 thing. Guess the opposing coach wasn't in the stands, but in his car in a spot overlooking the field. Everyone saw him there including the Cooper coaching staff.

Ethics of an opposing coach watching your practice
Apparently a NCC coach sat in the stadium stands today and watched Cooper's practice. The stadium is open for track walkers etc so in a sense practices are open to the public. My question is to the ethics of this. Do you think it is an issue? Should he have been asked to leave? Not only are they getting insight into the team they play in two days by watching the field, but I assume it also has to alter the practice as the team on the field doesn't want to give things away. Maybe teams do it all the time but I have not heard of it being so blatant.

2A #7 Newport Central Catholic vs. 6A Cooper
Unfortunately it appears not this week. Spencer, Jerry and I think a couple others won't be cleared for full pads till Saturday - a day late.

2A #7 Newport Central Catholic vs. 6A Cooper
I agree it will be low scoring but Cooper should pull away with the win. I think that Armour will be fine as QB. He had 1st game nerves and Borchers now has a good idea where he needs to work to get things where they need to be. Two bigger issues are the line giving him time to set up and make his reads, and receivers having butter fingers. Again, hoping they will be addressed but those are harder to adjust out. There are a number of players who will be coming back from injury/late arrivals who will also help, especially on D. This team has a strong secondary which will help the defense become the focal point by mid season. As long as the offense can be middle of the road and give that defense some rest, and stop the giving opponent short fields to score due to turnovers, from they should be fine this year.

Boone County/Cooper Updates Scrimmage
My bad, Linder was the JV qb last night. On Armour, I was going on what my son spoke of when asked if Miley had QB experience. Milburn likely did start but Mikey did see time there as well.

Boone County/Cooper Updates Scrimmage
Yes, Milburn was QB for the last quarter for the Jv/frosh. Mikey Armour is a Jr - as a So he played WR and as a Fr played QB.

Boone County/Cooper Updates Scrimmage
Armour played QB his freshman year so only had 1 year off from being at the position. Some of the veteran WRs didn't see a lot of action on offense yesterday, giving the younger guys some reps. Hopefully the drops will become less frequent quickly. Also I am hoping they start throwing quicker short routes. Saw a few times Armour seemed to hold on to the ball way to long and missed open guys. This was something that the team struggled with towards the end of last year as well.

Boone County/Cooper Updates Scrimmage
Couple thoughts on what I saw. both teams are going to live or die by their lines. Boone needs its o-line to gel and give their back 3-4 yards of space every play. If they can do that Boone will keep things close with long drives and wearing defenses down. It showed against Cooper in the second half although at that point a number of the 2-way players had been subbed out in coopers linebacking core so the penetration in the back field had slowed. For Cooper, they need to be able to better defend the situation above. With their lack of size on the defensive line they need to start using shifts/tricks to move the gaps and not give the runner a starting hole. That hole allowed Boone 3-4 yards each running play and allowed them to grind.

St. Henry 8 Cooper 3
St. Henry played a good game and the better team won today. They have had a great second half of the season and I wish them luck going forward.

St. Henry 8 Cooper 3
Only partly correct. Directly from the boys, Phillips was aching but Reid was told he was being saved for tomorrow.....

9th Region Quarterfinal Updates: St. Henry - Cooper
Yes, several of us wanted to be on the staff but were told no. Not until the AD stepped in did he have 1 assistant. And the errors, he is partially at fault as he was the one that chose to play those players instead of statistically better players left on the bench. And no, this wasn't for batting as the two that played - 1 was dhed for and the other has the lowest batting average in all the district. Again it's the "name" and whining parents that got their kids in to play likely costing the game. Again, these boys won the district DESPITE the coach, not because of him. It caught up in this regional game.

St. Henry 8 Cooper 3
Yes, Cooper left their 2 aces on the bench and both were ready and planning to play.

9th Region Quarterfinal Updates: St. Henry - Cooper
Call it what you want but I am betting you didn't have a boy on the team or you would understand where I am coming from. Due to so many issues, The boys had two team meetings with the AD/principal and told only way to fire coach was for ethic issues during season. This was the boys trying to address the issues, not parents. Collins had as many off field issues with boys as on field. He "didn't have the time" to find an assistant coach. He didn't want parents as assistant coaches until he was finally was told by the AD to use one of the parents, so he did. This all been said, how coach Collins acted at the end of this regional game he is likely planning to quit anyway. He didn't shake his players hands and just pretty much left in the 6th inning. Like I said, this team did a lot despite the coach. I didn't say anything all season but now it is time for a change.

9th Region Quarterfinal Updates: St. Henry - Cooper
Wow I am speechless... Coach Collins sat on the bench and didn't go out to support his players for their likely last atbat! Cooper needs better than that! Congrats to St. Henry. You were the better team today and good luck in round 2.

9th Region Quarterfinal Updates: St. Henry - Cooper
Not looking good for Cooper. 5 errors in the game and terrible coach management. Goes to show a good team can win despite the Coach. This game shows you play you best pitcher or not live to see the next game. It is typical for this year. I have bit my tongue all year hoping the coach would figure things out when it counted but sadly no. Leaving your two best pitchers, best outfielder and playing average players cause they have the "name" ends a season earlier than it should have.

Early Predictions... Best NKY Juniors.
Putting in my two cents for Cooper as their squad has 13+ Juniors playing (currently 11-6, 2-0 in their district) Most wins ever already for Cooper and looking to win or share district champ for first time ever. Pitching Standouts: Conner Phillips - 6 starts (34 innings pitched), ERA 0.618 , BAA 0.167 Brenden Reid - 4 starts (22 innings pitched), ERA 1.254, BAA 0.120 Batting Standouts: Nathan Sowder - .418 average over 16 games Brayden Runion - .400 average, 3 HRs Roman McLane - .370 average, 10 SBs

Simon Kenton 30 Cooper 0 (JV)
For Cooper - The freshman QB (playing JV this year) was hurt on the first series and the backup was out due to shoulder injury this week. A WR was pulled over to play QB having never played a snap there. The fact they were able to get over 100 yards on the ground is no small feat given the circumstances.
