St. Henry 8 Cooper 3

Featured Replies

(9th Region Quarterfinal)

St. Henry scores the last 8 runs to win 8 - 3.

Will Brady for the Cru had at least 4 RBI's.

Yes, Cooper left their 2 aces on the bench and both were ready and planning to play.

I heard Cooper "threw off". If so I will never understand that logic.

The logic was simple, as I spoke to one of the kids and heard from numerous people that both were still a little sore and fatigued. It is a shame that some people out there car more about a kids well being then winning a high school baseball game.

It's pretty simple, Blaine Walters threw really well and before a few big errors in the 5th he was pitching a 3 hit shutout then the wheels fell off

Let me say something else that's pretty simple. 5 errors or not St. Henry still has to bat and play the field and they did both which is why they won the game. They were not handed this game. They got a well pitched game, I think 8 hits and only a couple errors. This team has spent the entire season not getting the credit they've deserved and today they showed alot of people that they are a good baseball team.

Don't think it's a lack credit, but a lack of posters. You may be the only regular baseball poster for St. Henry on the board. Most of the posts I've seen this season do give St Henry credit, once they got on a roll. Win the next game and they will be the darlings of the region.

Only partly correct. Directly from the boys, Phillips was aching but Reid was told he was being saved for tomorrow.....

St. Henry played a good game and the better team won today. They have had a great second half of the season and I wish them luck going forward.

I agree. St. Henry may be one of the hottest teams in the 9th right now. Have to give them credit. The point is was stating is that pitching did not lose this game for Cooper, the errors did. That's what happens when you put the ball in play. Congrats St. Henry on moving on

Was Reid available or not? In the update thread you indicated he was not?

Again, no inside knowledge just the people I spoke to told me that he woke up this morning and still had a sore arm from Thursday

If they threw off, they got what they deserved. Enough teams have thrown off in the past years (just last year 2 teams did it and it cost them) for them to know better. Walters was the victim of bad defense that allowed extended innings and some good hitting by SH. If Reid was available and you don't throw him you live and die with that decision....THERE IS NOT TOMORROW IF YOU DON"T WIN TODAY!

But SH played very well so I'm not going to say they wouldn't have beaten Reid either.
