9th Region Quarterfinal Updates: St. Henry - Cooper

Recommended Posts

Not looking good for Cooper. 5 errors in the game and terrible coach management. Goes to show a good team can win despite the Coach. This game shows you play you best pitcher or not live to see the next game.

It is typical for this year. I have bit my tongue all year hoping the coach would figure things out when it counted but sadly no. Leaving your two best pitchers, best outfielder and playing average players cause they have the "name" ends a season earlier than it should have.

Wow I am speechless... Coach Collins sat on the bench and didn't go out to support his players for their likely last atbat! Cooper needs better than that!

Congrats to St. Henry. You were the better team today and good luck in round 2.

Sounds like sour grapes from an angry parent to me. Some things to think about while you sit behind a computer screen or phone and question someone doing something you obviously don't want to do. How about the fact that both pitchers still had sore arms when they woke up this morning so the coach didn't want to throw them. Also, the coach doesn't play the field, and doesn't make 5 errors that four of them were routine plays. As for the players playing because of the name, nothing I can say about that because I am not there everyday to see what the coaches see.

Cooper is young, and talented, and I expect them to be right back here next year with some experience to boot. To question a coach who wins the teams first district championship and makes it to the regional is tacky and classless, at the very least. Grow up and quit living vicariously through your son!

Call it what you want but I am betting you didn't have a boy on the team or you would understand where I am coming from.

Due to so many issues, The boys had two team meetings with the AD/principal and told only way to fire coach was for ethic issues during season.

This was the boys trying to address the issues, not parents.

Collins had as many off field issues with boys as on field. He "didn't have the time" to find an assistant coach. He didn't want parents as assistant coaches until he was finally was told by the AD to use one of the parents, so he did.

This all been said, how coach Collins acted at the end of this regional game he is likely planning to quit anyway. He didn't shake his players hands and just pretty much left in the 6th inning.

Like I said, this team did a lot despite the coach. I didn't say anything all season but now it is time for a change.

Copperhead. And you my friend are the exact reason why cos he's quit. Give the man a little credit. Most wins by the team. District title and making the region. He cannot play all 9 spots on the field. 5 errors. You are not going to win with that. If you think you can do better get on the staff

Yes, several of us wanted to be on the staff but were told no. Not until the AD stepped in did he have 1 assistant.

And the errors, he is partially at fault as he was the one that chose to play those players instead of statistically better players left on the bench. And no, this wasn't for batting as the two that played - 1 was dhed for and the other has the lowest batting average in all the district. Again it's the "name" and whining parents that got their kids in to play likely costing the game.

Again, these boys won the district DESPITE the coach, not because of him. It caught up in this regional game.
