  1. How are these decisions made? I had to go to Providence this morning from Henderson on 41-A and it would be no problem whatsoever for Henderson to get to Webster County tonight. Why would you not play? To me it's a tainted championship. Settle it on the court. I heard at coffee this morning that there has been a departure from the Trojan squad. Is that true Cols 51?
  2. Bo Robison, Union County in the 2nd region. The kid nobody knows outside of the 2nd teams that play Union. Three sport athlete which is very common at small schools that share athletes. Q-back on the football team, center fielder on the baseball team ( hit around 450 last season ) and point guard on the basketball team, averaging around 22 points a game. High game this season, a 84-73 victory over Estil County, 52 points on 19-25 field goals inc. 4-6 threes, 10-13 free throws, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Low game, 57-51 win over Lyon County with 12 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. Very explosive 6'2 senior point guard off the dribble who has to score points on his own. No summer ball, no AAU ball and no team camps. Lot of potential, very young, will be 17 when he graduates. Friends at Union tell me he doesn't have any offers. He gets double teamed and chased at every game as any good player does. Friends tell me basketball is his favorite sport and he wants to play. Would be a steal for somebody who wants to take a small gamble on a kid nobody knows.
  3. If they are able to keep the athletes they have now. The revolving door for transfers in the 8th is like no other. Your best player might end up playing for another team next year. There were several this year but you are right, future very bright if everyone stays and who knows UH might get a transfer in if needed.
  4. No analyst here Chief. I thought at the beginning it would be fun and there would be a lot of posts because the 6th has always been interesting in some ways. Lot of views but no posts so this is my last post. Results and details are in The Gleaner the next day and actually on line most nights by 11. I am going to the game because I think it will be a good one. Good luck to all of the 6th district teams both boys and girls the rest of the season.
  5. Action begins again in the 6th tomorrow night with Webster visiting Henderson. It is homecoming for the Colonels and it should be a very good homecoming. Colonels playing very well with DeAngelo Ware hitting his stride scoring over 18 a game over the last few games. With Robert Dawson and Karteece Rollins doing their thing on the boards make the Colonels a sure favorite, especially at home. Jon Stubblefield leads the Trojans at 14 per game and can get hot and score much more like he did against Union County but the Cols want let Stubbs get those easy looks he got against that UC zone. You can't forget Cayden Edmonson scoring around 11 a game and getting 9 boards a game. Looks to be a close game for a while but I look for Henderson to pull away late and get a leg up on the top seed.
  6. Chief, I may or may not know Ky. football but I do know the realities of life. Winning a state championship in either class by either school is remote, very remote. What is important to most is getting their family in the best possible situation as far as best school system, community and money reward opportunities. I will assume Henderson pays their football coach much more than Union does and can. If you don't think if he got a call from the Administration like Lewis did, he would turn it down, you are living in a dream world. Union is a stopping off point for most of your major sports coaches. Your basketball coach tried to leave last year but that didn't work out. I don't have a clue if Coach Boston will apply or if he would be offered the job but regardless of the outcome of this situation, just like either school winning a state title in their class, the possibility of Coach Boston buying a house on the US 60 corridor between Waverly and Sullivan is remote, very remote.
  7. I tend to agree. He would not be looking to leave. His whole family inc his wife's family lives here. Actually a no brainier but same issues are there that kept him from getting the job before.
  8. Chief, I would suggest you consult your Tribal Council and reevaluate Coach Boston's Interest.
  9. Mainly talking about it being a great game and I am a fan of both organizations. Many Super Bowls are not that interesting. The Panthers will be 4-6 point favorites and I will be rooting for Manning and the Broncos.
  10. The Cards never cease to amaze me. Pitino does more with less than any Coach in the country.
  11. As far as I am concerned, this was the Super Bowl, great game.
  12. Can't blame him, if they kick the field goal instead of going for it on 4th and one. they win the ballgame.
  13. Sorry, posted again because I didn't think first post appeared.
  14. Did not figure to be but surprised it was this bad. Union not a very good defensive team and that showed tonight, 12 threes and outrebounded by a bunch by the Colonels. They put the clamps on Robison who was averaging 24 a game. He had 10-12 points but had several assists. Smithhart is a smart coach. He double team Robison at mid court, kept his defense in front of him all night keeping him from driving to the basket. I do think Robison is a much better player than he showed tonight. Union doesn't seem to help him much with screens, picks ect. Henderson is getting better with each game and the 6th is a gimmie for this bunch.
  15. Did not figure to be much of a game but surprised it was that bad. Union just not a very good defensive team and if you put the clamps on Robison, its a gimmie. Bo had 10 or 12 points and is averaging 24. Smithhart is a smart coach, he double teamed Robison at mid court, kept him in front of the defense not allowing him to get to the rim and score or get fouled and make free throws. I thought he played hard and was worn out at the end. I think he is a better player than he looked tonight. You have to give Smithhart credit. This team is getting better every time they play. The 6th is a gimmie for the Colonels.
  16. The 6th resumes Friday with Union at Henderson. Union 0-1 in the district after losing to Webster last Friday 70-61 as Jon Stubblefield led the charge with 26 points and killed Union hitting 5-6 three's, most in the 4th quarter. The Braves face another huge test with Henderson being a huge favorite, 21 in one poll and 17 in another poll plus home court. Kevin Patton summed it up today in his article saying "Henderson has lost three of it's last four but play Union County Friday". I think we all know the Colonels win this game.
  17. Hope you are not wasting your time in the second, the bias some of these guys have against some teams and players is really bad. Not many would be moving up. My team won Friday night but the calls against the other team were embarrassing.
  18. First 6th District game tonight as Union travels to Webster for a 7:30 match-up with Webster being a huge favorite. Even worse for Union, it's being reported that Bo Robison and Jacob Tapp, the two seniors and leading scorers will not play because of injuries.
  19. Coach Smithhart really likes his team. I listened to his radio show today and if you didn't know the outcome of this game, you would have thought the Colonels won.
  20. Just think where they would be if they had the 14-15 points a game Sebree is getting.
  21. Couple of big games in the region tonight, Webster travels to Christian County and Henderson entertains University Heights. The 8th prevails as usual.
  22. Meant to say best in the 6th, not the 2nd
