  1. What makes them so special, even after years and years? I work with a guy “Harry”, and I’m friends with a woman in the neighborhood “Meghan”. The first time I met Meghan we were chit chatting about where we worked, etc. and she said Oh! Do you know Harry? He works where you work. We were really close friends in high school. I told her that of course I know Harry, everyone knows Harry, Harry is awesome! A few months later I ran into Harry at work and told him my friend Meghan knows him. He’s like Really??? Oh wow Meghan.... we went to high school together. Periodically when I run into either they always ask about the other and tell me to say hi. Recently Harry & I coordinated a work event together and at one meeting he got a dreamy look in his eye and talked about Meghan. I’ve finally figured out they were high school sweethearts, lol.
  2. Ohh didn’t realize that - but agree about Dallas!
  3. Nice to wake up and see Ray Spalding was drafted #56 to the Sixers. Go Ray!
  4. Thanks so much you guys, this is so helpful!!
  5. The bathroom is in the corner of the basement – 1 wall concrete, 1 wall wood framing because there’s a room on the other side. Concrete floor. We installed a utility sink right away (where the “nice” sink will eventually go) and recently added a toilet next to it (both back up to the wood framing wall) but toilet is moving toward the concrete wall (corner). Privacy at this point is from folding privacy panels – yes we are the Beverly Hillbillies. The shower is supposed to go next to the toilet right into the corner. There’s about 4 to 5 feet from the concrete wall to the toilet (the space for the shower). Drain for the shower is flushed right in the corner of the 2 walls, it’s pretty open. The basement is large, dry, high ceilings & awesome. It’s partially finished and is looking great. We just haven’t gotten around to the bathroom, lol.
  6. @coldweatherfan - You are awesome!!
  7. Yes, floor/walls are concrete.
  8. The drain worries me slightly since it sits at an odd angle in the basement, i.e. it’s in a corner set up for one of the typical bathtub/shower contraptions that drain on the end, right under the shower head. Most of these free standing showers drain in the center. Yikes. Otherwise good skills in the rest you mentioned (ok not me personally but my assistant, lol). I guess I’m wondering if the free standing will work ok for a while, or will fall apart after a couple uses.
  9. Has anyone installed a cheap, free standing shower? How did it work out, lol? I’m contemplating adding a shower in my basement for temporary use for a guest who will be here for an extended stay. I already have a toilet and sink. Trying to DIY for the most part, since I don’t have a ton of time/money to prepare.
  10. Yes, Harambe & Fiona! I would add Marty Brennaman & Johnny Bench How about a BGP mount rushmore? lol
  11. I just read Sweetbitter by Stephanie Danler. During the NBA Tournament I kept seeing the advertisements for the Starz TV series based on this “coming of age” book. A young woman moves to New York City and starts working in the restaurant business. It was very good – loved Danler’s writing style... it was sortof poetic.
  12. Let’s just say it will be Warriors vs. Philly in the finals next year.
  13. There were 2 surprising celebrity suicides this week, Kate Spade & Anthony Bourdain. In response I’ve seen a lot of suicide related posts on social media. In fact one of my Facebook friends just posted that she has a network of support to help with her mental illnesses, but she still thinks about suicide daily and sometimes feels life isn’t worth the cost. I just read that the US suicide rate has increased 25% since 1999; and 45,000 in the U.S. died by suicide in 2016. I’ve seen posts by BGP members who have lost loved ones. It’s heart-wrenching.
  14. Brilliant idea, last night was gorgeous and a perfect night for the concertst!
  15. Liked the singing siblings and the 14 year old girl rapper.... And for whatever reason, the guys shooting water fountains from their mouths had me on the floor laughing.
  16. I send my kids to Catholic schools and have a solid understanding of the morality taught. I can guess, but it still remains unclear to me why the speech was not allowed. I admire the Catholic Church too – it’s where I find the greatest love, forgiveness, peace and hope that I’m constantly searching for in my life. However I find it offensive and degrading and sad when it’s used as a pawn in the conservative/liberal/political correctness war in our society.
  17. That reminds me of another difference with my parents. When my siblings & I first started driving our parents stressed the risks of drinking/driving and speeding. When our kids started driving we preached the same of course, but I would say I placed more of an emphasis on texting/driving and wearing your seatbelt. My heart is still broken over the poor Cincinnati girl who died in that car accident on prom night – when the kids wearing seatbelts in the car survived.
  18. Just went to see about buying tix for Sunday and its saying sold out – bummer. I wanted to see Post Malone (don’t hate on me).
  19. Walk/ride our bikes 2 miles to the pool each summer, which included crossing a 4 lane roadway. Remain at said pool for hours, and walk/ride our bikes home by dinner.
  20. Or tell me how to vote... Thanks for this camelman. As direct and in your face as this is.... I couldn’t help but nod in solidarity and crack up at the same time.
  21. Warriors in 7. Our family will be split. Most of us like the Warriors/dislike the Cavs. But the daughter’s new boyfriend is a huge Cavs fan (his parents are from the Land) so it’ll make it kinda fun/interesting.
  22. I read the speech and do not see the issue - i find it positive and empowering. I think the issue could be the reference to “the young people will win” which is associated with gun control activism which is (unfortunately) viewed as a political. I’ve been following David Hogg for several months. He is one of the Stoneman Douglas High School (FL) student gun control activists since the school shooting on Feb 14. He uses the tag line “the young people will win” - I have to say his work/efforts and results over the last few months are fascinating.
  23. Anyone have good ideas for a Kentucky related gift – to help someone who’s moving far away, remember from whence they came?
