  1. I’m fascinated – or should I be concerned? The Sahara is 6,000 miles away! Hazy skies over Cincinnati? It's dust from the Sahara Desert Oops, could a mod edit thread title to Aug. 15 (instead of "today")?
  2. Great reminder! And off topic, but are my kids the only ones wrapping up their summer assignments with mere hours before school begins? lol
  3. I was going to say Panera when I read the thread title (and I wasn’t even following the other thread ha ha). Also, Dewey’s, Chik Fil A, Panada Express, Jimmy John’s, B-dubs, Canes, LaRosas – basically all the places my kids want all the time... Not overrated – Chipotle, LOVE IT!!
  4. Church and then cleaning out and organizing my master closet. I’ve recently reached a point of letting things go..... both physical and emotional baggage lol.... and ahhhh it feels (& looks) so nice!
  5. The older I get the more I want from my kid’s teacher.... is to truly truly care about them. HS can be such a tough time. Give each student as much love, support and confidence that you can. After that...., teach my child to think creatively, broadly, and to consider the big picture. Finally, teach them how to write well and collaborate well with others. Then focus on the subject/content area – lol.
  6. That’s what I keep coming back to. If my children’s sig other placed a hand on my child I would spend every effort until my last breath to bring justice upon them, no situation/reason would matter unless the sig other imminently feared for their life. Thus that should apply in ALL cases - I just don’t see any gray area.
  7. I think it’s very fair to educate yourself about the many reasons why domestic abuse victims choose to stay... Why Do People Stay in Abusive Relationships? - The Hotline According to the website you can help victims by “being there and offering support without judgement”. I have not read the details of the OSU case.
  8. And he throws his first interception... and gets his first sack, lol. But still awesome to see him in the NFL, excited to follow the Ravens this year!
  9. Lamar Jackson scores his first ever NFL (preseason) touchdown! Yay & congrats! Baltimore 17 Chicago 7 (third quarter)
  10. I don’t think there’s a one size fits all way to fix it. Probably have to address prevention/solutions from multiple fronts... homeless vets, victims of domestic abuse, runaways, those recently released from prison, homeless youth, and the chronic homeless (drugs, mental illness, etc..).
  11. Happy Happy Birthday to the one and only Deuce!!
  12. Burger from a Charcoal Grill, toasted Bun, American Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato, Onion + tons of ketchup
  13. Hooray for UofL’s new President Dr. Bendapudi.... “speaking up when it matters”!! Here’s the announcement: In moments of crisis, the best communities find a way to come together. Over the last 24 hours our community has been fractured by the comments made by former UofL trustee John Schnatter. These comments were hurtful and unacceptable, and they do not reflect the values of our university. I have decided, with the support of our Board of Trustees, to rename our football stadium “Cardinal Stadium” and to remove John Schnatter’s name from the Center for Free Enterprise at our College of Business effective immediately. I have stated since my first day on this job that my commitment to the University of Louisville is to make it a great place to learn, a great place to work, and a great place in which to invest. We can only accomplish this if we truly celebrate diversity, foster equity, and aim to achieve inclusion. I appreciate your support as we have reviewed this difficult situation. By taking this action, we renew our community’s commitment to speaking up when it matters, doing what is right, and coming together as one team – our Cardinal family – to heal and move forward. The brightest days for this university are still ahead.

  15. As a UofL fan this lawsuit doesn’t bother me or delay me from “moving on”. It’s obviously very personal for the players. Love me some Luke Hancock..... you do you UofL 2013 NCAA Champion team!
  16. Summertime is my favorite time for nightly drinks and conversation on the deck! We are so lucky to have a great view of nature and varying wildlife, so there’s nothing better than chilling out with a glass of wine or beer as the sun is setting into the gradual darkness. Last night the group was drinking a white zinfandel & some 50 West. If we do fruity it’s usually mixing up a pitcher of frozen pink lemonade concentrate + vodka + soda water + can of beer. Yum!
  17. I read that they entered the caves during a period of dry weather – but subsequent downpours of rain blocked the narrow entrance/exit passages. I guess they found a dry ledge where they’ve since been trapped. RIP to the diver, so sad...
  18. I haven't in years but participated this year since I saw the Reds pushing Scooter Gennett. I remember voting all the time when I was a kid - with those punch-out ballots, lol.
  19. It sounds like they had soccer practice in a park complex and afterward planned to spend the afternoon in the nearby cave trails. The saddest part (before their discovery) were the pictures of their empty bikes lined up in the park.
  20. Wow, this is unbelievable... hooray to the rescuers and those providing support! Hopefully the boys and their soccer coach make a full recovery, it sounds like they are still too weak to be moved out immediately. I loved seeing that the US was involved in the rescue efforts. 21. Ahhh high school music in the ‘80s.... these immediately come to mind: Journey Madonna Michael Jackson Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers Prince The Cars REO Speedwagon Bryan Adams John Cougar Mellencamp
