Plenty of kids do well with the extra year, but just for athletics is what makes no sense. Maybe do it,but if the kid is superior athleticallylet them play up so it makes them better. That will help even more. I know some schools won't allow because it takes away playing time for others.... that's what upward is for, everybody wins!!! There will always be someone better at something than you are in real life so they need to learn to deal with it.
I agree it helps get a wider area of looks. I do believe Treyvon has some interest already,or trip to Louisville to eat for free. You need to be really good to pay the fees these teams ask! Hotels, food, and whatever else. I just say for some it may help, others it won't.Be careful and not get your hopes up. That is all I'm saying.
High school is usually when the younger kids catch up though. It will not be as easy for the older ones as it was in middle. That's when the playing field evens back up!
Played there several times. Loved it. Played tournament there against Gerald Osbourne(UK football recruit) later was Todd Mays teammate at Virgie. Lots of memories, what a fun gym to play in..always thought about King Kelly Coleman when playing there.
I love the old gyms. Knott County will always be my home! Carr Creek was always our rivalry(Hindman) in elementary. The old middle school gym close to settlement school holds lots of memories for me too. My 8th grade class was the last year of that school.
I agree totally! I can see a one year older in grades....but if you're almost 2 years older-move up people! Play with kids that make you better, not look better.
