Trinity at St. Xavier (OH) Predictions/Updates
I know Herbstreit was the one who led the drive to get the game tying field goal at the end of regulation, but it definitely seems like we will get X in the wing offense for a big piece of this game. 382 rushing yards against the Panthers is an eye popping stat and the sophomore Vollmer is a very capable runner. I thought he could really push Herbstreit this year after seeing him as a freshman against the Rocks last year but I never thought I would see them run the Wing. Napier is also a quality back and putting 4* Michigan DL commit Ted Hammond on offense makes them very tough to stop. I have to think they will try to slow the game down, limit the amount of possessions and really test the mettle of the Trinity linebackers and secondary. The front seven has to understand that this now becomes assignment football, in the words of legendary defensive coordinator Mickey Kalbhin. Know your man and know where he's going. Defensively, this is the traditional 3-3-5 Specht stack with the adjuster. Cobb and the Trinity offense have done well against them in recent years and Johnson has been getting a crash course in his defense all week. Elder did a decent job against them but GCL passing leader Matt Ponatoski was only 6-of-21 for 62 yards for Moeller against them. Hammond is an absolute monster who played hard all game for them, so it remains to be seen how capable he is playing both ways now. Gordy Sulfsted is also a tremendous ball player and will be a sure-fire high D-1 prospect. He leads the GCL in sacks and anchors another solid Specht defense. Jakobe Clapper and Noah Beck are tackling machines and also really stand out on film. Thanks to last week, a lot of the "pressure" seems to have lifted off of the Trinity staff. Johnson, Sansbury, and the Trinity offense played their best game in a long time against the Tigers and the defense was flying all over the field. Brandon Stafford had maybe 1 ball thrown his way at cornerback and Sekou Kamara did an outstanding job against the speedy receivers Louisville X threw at him. However, I know after losing back-to-back GCL games it will not be easy to go into Ballaban Field and get a win against the Bombers. Steve Specht and Andrew Coverdale are two of the best coaches I have ever been in the presence of and are more than capable of giving us nightmares all game long to deal with. Trinity must come in ready to attack the wing on defense, frustrate Vollmer or Herbstreit any time they drop back to pass, and keep running the ball to open up the passing attack. I also think this is a game where Carson Hilbert will be relied on heavily. He has done an outstanding job punting and the last time we went up to North Bend Road, Kellen McLaughlin needed to hit hit 4 field goals including a school-record 53 yarder in that 33-32 classic. His Howitzer of a leg can pin them deep on kickoffs and get points on the board if we need them in a field goal type scenario. I personally can't wait to get up there and see this matchup! Go Rocks! ☘️

Saint Xavier vs. Trinity Predictions/Updates
Just from my perspective as keys to the game: -Pressure on Havill is a must. He likes to "hike it and heave it" a little too much under duress and he definitely has guys who can come down with it in Holloway, Harbin, and Barbee. The Rocks are much better at the corners this time around with Kamara and Stafford, but any blips could be touchdowns to those guys. -Mahan/Washburn vs. Guillaume. Guillaume is clearly X's best lineman and probably the best player on the team. Claude, Zyan and any other DL he faces has to win at least part of the time. Tronzo will get doubled all game as he has all year, so whoever the interior 0-technique/shade defenders are have to get loose and get in the backfield. Coach Fox will no doubt rely on sim pressures and blitzes up the middle to confuse him and help our DL. Yates and Gray are quality backs who average over 5.9 yards per carry, so beating Guillaume in the middle can really hamper the X run game. -Zero Mistakes. The Rocks have continued to get punts and kicks blocked again this year and that cannot happen if they want to win this game. No more red zone turnovers, no snaps over the head or on the ground. This has all led to being in high-leverage situations either being backed up against their own goal line or getting behind on the scoreboard. Offensive drives need to end in points and the defense will need their rest against this big offensive line and speedy skill players I hope Coach Cobb can put it together and get the monkey off his back in the series. Trinity definitely has the ability to win this game, and were a dropped pass from it last year. Hopefully the Shillelagh is back on Shelbyville Road around 11pm tonight! Go Rocks! ☘️

Who Is Your Stadium Named After?
Fr. Harry Jansing was our longtime AD and a major figure in putting Trinity on the map in the State of Kentucky...Buck Marshall owned Marshall Realty Company which sat adjacent to the Trinity land and he donated money and land to Trinity to be used

Moeller (OH) 13 Trinity 6 (Frosh)
Rocks played the A team and Ft. Wayne Dwyer (IN) played the B team on Saturday...Trinity did not dress any immediate backups for this game (Kamara, Johnson, McBroom, Carney, etc.) Backup QB at Moeller was exceptional. Trinity QB Pfeiffer showed flashes and Rocks need to get off the mat to go up to CG this Saturday.

Not 100% sure, but I think everything that goes onto the Videoboard will be what is streamed, so I’d say yes…I’ll try to get an answer for that.

- Trinity at Springfield (OH) 8/5 Scrimmage Updates
The DL I mentioned in the OP is actually Julian, not Frost. I did not have a roster and was corrected by someone on staff. Apologies.- Trinity at Springfield (OH) 8/5 Scrimmage Updates
Offensive line for Varsity looks further along than last year, but still things to work on. The snap by Kays over Hepner's head was bad. Higgins looked great and I thought Kays was solid other than the fumble. They blocked the screen plays well and Sansbury had some room to run. Hernandez and Bratcher will continue to gel with the others and hopefully we have a formidable unit by Week 11!- Trinity at Springfield (OH) 8/5 Scrimmage Updates
Very early to tell but they have the hype. I was on staff and around the '13 guys as Freshmen a lot and this team has a little different feel. Quick was touted as the next Mike Bush and he definitely lived up to that. Ryan White became the best DB in school history and had a tremendous career at Vanderbilt. Dalyn Dawkins became a superstar and had was on a few NFL rosters. Travis Wright became the winningest QB in school history (more wins than Brian, Jeff, DeSensi, Petrino, et al.) Hatcher, Trey Wright, Bobby Bryant, Connor Hill and some others I am for sure forgetting all had All-State type careers. That being said, I am not putting these guys in that category after one scrimmage. The QB looks the part, for sure. Outstanding arm talent and poise. Dad is a coach and it shows. Also quick to own a mistake and put the reassurance back in his WR to come back to him. The corner also looks very solid, albeit small for a Varsity player. The LB's and DL that I saw are big and fast and will grow under this outstanding defensive staff. Didn't see much of the OL, but they are big also. The jury is out, but it will be fun to see how it plays out.- Trinity at Springfield (OH) 8/5 Scrimmage Updates
Just a few observations from this 3 quarter scrimmage: Trinity's defense is again the backbone of the program. LB Brady McEnaney came up huge with a red zone INT, and then a strip-sack fumble recovery to stop another drive. How he doesn't have a D-1 offer is mind boggling to me. DL Nate Tronzo has picked up where Mitchell Toney left off. Tronzo is a game wrecker and was pulling double-teams all day. DL JC Wilson, Claude Mahan, and Jahbarri Frost also looked very good against the run as Springfield had almost no room to move the ball. I thought the linebackers flowed to the ball very well and kept the Wildcats QB on roller skates for most of the game. The back end gave up a few touchdowns, but CB Brandon Stafford's pick-6 was a bright spot. This was a tough matchup for the offense. But in saying that, this might be the best defense Trinity will see all year. The secondary for Springfield was elite and will keep them in every game they play in 2023. QB Jackson Hepner earned the start and he tried to fit in nearly every throw due to suffocating coverage. Will DeSensi came in and made a few nice plays with his mobility but the Rocks just couldn't punch it in against the Wildcats. RB Clint Sansbury was fantastic and amassed what I believe was close to 200 total yards. He had a huge run down to the 1 on the first drive and also had a few screen passes and runs where he drug defenders down the field for 10-15 yards each time. The touchdown drive came in the third quarter when Freshman QB Zane Johnson entered. Johnson showed why he has so much hype coming in, showing major arm talent and poise. After zipping one past an open Luke Sasser, he walked up to him and apologized, then on the next drive hit him in stride after dodging two blitzes and stepping up in the pocket. Sansbury finished it off with a run up the middle on fourth down into the end zone. K/P Carson Hilbert made a 45-yard field goal into the wind, which would have been good from 55-60 yards. He also hit 2 touchbacks and did a nice job punting. While Springfield technically won the game with a score of 28-17, much of this game was Coach Cobb trying out some things and not necessarily worrying about down and distance. I heard some people complaining about not going for it on 4th and short or when Trinity did go for it on 4th and long, but it must be said that he was clearly trying to test the troops out there and see what they were capable of. All and all, this was a good showing for both teams and Trinity now has a much better picture of what to work on if they are to compete for a State Championship this year.- 2023 Trinity Shamrocks
The Shamrocks scrimmage on Saturday will be 3 quarters beginning at 11:30 and then JV for a while after. They play Springfield HS from Dayton, OH, who are slotted as the #42 team in the nation by MaxPreps right now. They have a top tier defender in CB Aaron Scott who is committed to Ohio State. SHS also went to the championship game last year where they lost to Cleveland St. Edward. This should be a good matchup for Trinity who is looking to find their footing amongst a difficult early season schedule against the likes of Center Grove, Frederick Douglass and Carmel. More to follow as I hear it.- 2023 Trinity Shamrocks
Definitely a lot of this...More running than I have seen in a while and the team is very focused. Also really good to see Travis Wright having a hand in it as QB's coach as well...Winningest QB in school history should definitely have a role somewhere, so I am glad to see him out there working with Williams and Cobb and sharing what he knows. ☘️- 2023 Trinity Shamrocks
Defense looks very impressive. Front 7 are all fast, aggressive and hungry...McEnaney, Davis, Frost, Mitchell, Wilson, Tronzo, etc. Offense has glimmers but is still getting there (albeit against perhaps the state's best, Iron sharpens Iron!!!) Kicking game will again be a strength with JR Carson Hilbert taking over Special Teams for McLaughlin (Miami U) and Schultz (UofL)...Offensive Line looks to be getting better and as many have said previously, the skill kids are all there...Hepner taking many of the reps at QB right now but I have a feeling he will be getting pushed all season Side Note: The WDRB App simulcast appears to be a go at this point and we should have a much better video presence this year alongside our normal radio broadcast- 2023 Trinity Shamrocks
Completely agree. I would dive head first into this if allowed. Alas...- School Logos: Best and Knock-Offs
<--- I like the fact that our helmet logo has a great backstory...I wish the guys coming through got to hear that from the upperclassmen and Mr. Semary like we did - Trinity at Springfield (OH) 8/5 Scrimmage Updates
