Can we list the teams that broadcast their games online and provide links for their pages? Very excited to get the season kicked off tonight.

Here you are, a game for every day this week today through Monday (with the exception of Wednesday) featuring some of the best the 12th region has to offer. It is great to have basketball finally here. Monday, December 2nd - Scott County at East Jessamine or Somerset at Mercer County. Tuesday, December 3rd - Danville Christian at Woodford County or Lincoln County at Lafayette or Madison Central at Pulaski County Wednesday, December 4th - no action Thursday, December 5th - Somerset at Berea Friday, December 6th - Pulaski County at West Jessamine (A ton of games this night but this game stands tallest among them.) Saturday, December 7th - Jeffersontown at Pulaski or North Hardin vs. DCA We will be back after Saturday to break down all the action and preview week 2.

1 minute left. Timeout Campbellsville. They have two left but after a first down run following the unsuccessful onsides kick, Sayre is all the way down to the 24 of Campbellsville, 2nd and 7.

After a lengthy delay due to an encroaching crowd around the field, the Eagles get to try for 2 and are successful. 28-14.

2:44 left in the game. Eagles touchdown makes it 28-12 Sayre up. I’m sure Campbellsville will go for 2.

The first play of the fourth quarter is a Ryle touchdown pass to the back right corner of the end zone. 35-0 Ryle leads with 11:53 left in the game.

Dual-threat quarterback Connor Hodge and the CAL Centurions host the streaking Lexington Catholic Knights for a chance to play for the 3A title. CAL is coming off a revenge win over Central, a 42 point swing between how bad they lost back in the regular season to how dominantly they won last night. Lexington Catholic is winner of 7 in a row. They have relied on Matthew Kern and Brady Wasik on both sides of the ball as well as a dynamic cast of playmakers both offensively and defensively. They have only allowed 14 points or less in every game they have played in class, and their marquee win is a 36-29 road victory over Scott County. The home team probably has the edge here but don’t count out the Knights as they may very well have the horsepower to slow down Hodge and the balanced offense needed to have success against the Centurion defense.

And then there were four teams left in 2A. This one is already being treated as the last perfunctory task Owensboro Catholic needs to complete to make it to the state championship tilt. However, the Briar Jumpers of Somerset aren’t going to just lay down and hand it to them. Brady Atwell spearheads the dynamic Ace offense that has put up incredible numbers this year in both yardage and scoring. Somerset is headlined by the fantastic trio of Bruner, Hughes and Cimala. Quarterback Josh Bruner also pitches in on defense where he has recorded an interception this year. Leading rusher Kris Hughes also is second on the team in receiving yards and has 2 interceptions on defense. Corban Cimala also has a pair of picks while leading in receiving yards on offense. The Jumper defense also boasts Reynolds, Koger, Lawless, Bartley, Alsip and Gulock. The Aces, beyond Atwell, have leading rusher Miles Edge, primary receivers Waryn Ebelhar and Dereon Crowe, defensive powerhouse Vince Carrico, and interceptions leader Jude Cecil. It will be hard for the Jumpers to keep pace in this one but crazier things have happened.

I am probably most interested in seeing if the defenses hang as tight as they did earlier in the year. Each team scored their second lowest amount for a game on the year in the first matchup. I think Cooper needs to score more than 24 this time around if they expect to win, something they are fully capable of. Give me Cooper 35 to 28.

I would like to know how many of those girls are still enrolled at Holmes. That seems to be the biggest problem is keeping teams together and kids in the district.

Yes, I watched every snap of that second half. Awesome game and Owensboro gave the Aces a serious scare for sure. Certainly some blueprint ideas opponents of the Aces can draw from that game.

Holmes, with a young roster coming off a 3-28 season, has opted out of varsity girls basketball competition for the 2024-2025 season and will play exclusively freshmen and junior varsity games.

The Undefeated Aces of Owensboro Catholic host the 7-5 Monroe County Falcons. The Falcons have ripped off 6 wins in a row, all in 2A regular play and the first two rounds of the playoffs. Their offense has been rolling as they have score 29 or more in all of those wins. Owensboro Catholic has really only been tested once and that was a game against Owensboro where they still won by double digits. Though they have fought through various injuries, nothing has slowed the Aces. Brady Atwell looks to continue his impressive season as it still seems Owensboro Catholic will have a relatively easy time getting through to the title game, including this week against Monroe County.

The Lexington Catholic Knights have rolled in their first two games of the 3A playoffs and now get to travel to Bell County in hopes of continuing their postseason run. Their record now stands at 6-6, all 6 wins coming consecutively after opening up 0-6. Matthew Kern has developed into a good dual threat quarterback as the year has progressed and has helped the offense find consistency after not being able to produce a complete effort earlier in the year. Bell County comes in 11-1, their sole loss coming in the season opener. Only once in their 11 wins have they scored less than 28 points. Kaleb Miller leads a ground game that averages over 270 rushing yards per game. Lexington Catholic has had a much harder schedule than Bell County. Will that preparation show this week? Will either defense step up to shutdown the other team’s powerful offense?

The undefeated Cooper Jaguars, after a 45-20 victory over Scott County, host the Southwestern Warriors in the 3rd round of the 5A playoffs. The Warriors come in off a win over North Laurel 31-14. All of their wins this year included them holding their opposition to 14 or less. I don’t see them doing that this week. Cooper has been an offensive juggernaut. While performing at a high level on both sides of the ball, they have just been unreal offensively. Can O’Hara, Johnson, Alexander, Combs and Maher keep that up against a stout Warrior defense? In this same game last year it produced 24 points to Southwestern’s 14. I think you can expect greater point production from the Jaguars this year and I don’t think Southwestern will be able to keep up.

9:33 left in game. Knights score a touchdown and make the extra point to start the running clock, 42-7.

Newport picks off Ludlow on the fourth down attempt to start the fourth but is down at their own 1.

Newport sacked on the fourth down attempt. They come up empty after the fumble recovery.

Ludlow had a defensive stop to start the second half but on the pursuing offensive possession a bad pitch results in Newport recovering the ball at the Ludlow 36, still 13-7.
